Switching off the reservoir through nonstationary quantum systems

Lucas C. Céleri, M. A. de Ponte, Celso J. Villas-Bôas +1 more

In this paper, we demonstrate that the inevitable action of the environment can be substantially weakened when considering appropriate nonstationary quantum systems. Beyond protecting quantum states against decoherence, an oscillating frequency can be engineered to make the system–reservoir coupling almost negligible. Differently from the program for engineering reservoir and similarly to the schemes for dynamical decoupling of open quantum systems, our technique does not require previous knowledge of the state to be protected. However, differently from the previously-reported schemes for dynamical decoupling, our technique does not rely on the availability of tailored external pulses acting faster than the shortest timescale accessible to the reservoir degree of freedom.

Entanglement Protection of Two‐Qubit System in Non‐Markovian Reservoir via Weak Measurement and Weak Measurement Reversal

Xiuli Guo, Yanliang Zhang, Guodong Kang +1 more

The protection schemes of the entanglement in the system of two entangled atoms from nonMarkovian reservoirs via previous Weak measurement (pre-WM) and posterior Weak measurement reversal (post-WMR) are investigated. We firstly compare the effects of combination applying of pre-WM and post-WMR (scheme 1) and twice Weak measurements (WMs) (scheme 2) in the condition of different initial entangled states. The analysis indicates that the protection performance of scheme 1 is much better than that of scheme 2. The scheme 1 was utilized when the system of two entangled atoms suffers from the independent reservoirs. The numerical results show that the combination of pre-WM and post-WMR can effectively enhance entanglement and shorten the time of Entanglement sudden death (ESD) in non-Makovain environment. We have found the optimum of WM strengthens is drastically related to the initial entangled state.

Improving Entanglement Generation Using the Coherence of a Nonthermal Reservoir

Xiao‐Ming Li, Zhong‐Xiao Man, Yun‐Jie Xia

Abstract The effect of environmental coherence on bipartite and tripartite quantum entanglements using quantum collision models is studied. In the collision model, an open quantum system of two qubits indirectly interacts with the reservoir via auxiliary qubits. The reservoir is modeled as a collection of initially uncorrelated qubits prepared in an identically nonthermal state. It is shown that the coherence of the nonthermal reservoir contributes to the generation and protection of entanglement. It is found that adding coherence to the initial state of the reservoir qubit can significantly enhance the steady‐state entanglement of the system, and the presence of coherence in the reservoir allows steady‐state entanglement to be obtained in a higher temperature region.
