Abstract

We discuss the correspondence between models solved by the Bethe ansatz and classical integrable systems of the Calogero type. We illustrate the correspondence by the simplest example of the inhomogeneous asymmetric six-vertex model parameterized by trigonometric (hyperbolic) functions.

An introduction to the algebraic Bethe ansatz

James Plunkett, Omar E. Foda

The algebraic Bethe ansatz is one of the main approaches to solving integrable models in statistical mechanics. This thesis is a detailed introduction to aspects of this technique. In chapter 1, following Takhtajan1, we fully explain all preliminaries that are required by this technique in the context of the 8-vertex model, including the solution of the Yang-Baxter equations in terms of Boltzmann weights that are parameterized by elliptic function. In chapter 2, also following Takhtajan, we restrict our attention to the special case of the 6-vertex model, with Boltzmann weights parameterized by hyperbolic trigonometric functions, formulate the model in detail on a finite lattice with periodic boundary conditions, and show how the algebraic Bethe ansatz can be used to characterize the eigenvectors and eigenvalues, in the homogeneous case (all vertical rapidities are equal, and all horizontal rapidities are also equal). In chapter 3, following Bogoliubov et al2, we consider the 6-vertex model in inhomogeneous case (all rapidities are now independenti variables) but with domain wall boundary conditions. Using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, and Izergin’s result for the partition function, we calculate boundary 1-point functions of the six-vertex model on a finite lattice and represent them in determinant form. Trigonometric version of quantum–classical duality in integrable systems

Maxim Beketov, Andrii Nikolaevich Liashyk, Anton Vladimirovich Zabrodin +1 more

We extend the quantum–classical duality to the trigonometric (hyperbolic) case. The duality establishes an explicit relationship between the classical N-body trigonometric Ruijsenaars–Schneider model and the inhomogeneous twisted XXZ spin chain on N sites. Similarly to the rational version, the spin chain data fixes a certain Lagrangian submanifold in the phase space of the classical integrable system. The inhomogeneity parameters are equal to the coordinates of particles while the velocities of classical particles are proportional to the eigenvalues of the spin chain Hamiltonians (residues of the properly normalized transfer matrix). In the rational version of the duality, the action variables of the Ruijsenaars–Schneider model are equal to the twist parameters with some multiplicities defined by quantum (occupation) numbers. In contrast to the rational version, in the trigonometric case there is a splitting of the spectrum of action variables (eigenvalues of the classical Lax matrix). The limit corresponding to the classical Calogero–Sutherland system and quantum trigonometric Gaudin model is also described as well as the XX limit to free fermions.

ON THE INTEGRABILITY OF CLASSICAL RUIJSENAARS–SCHNEIDER MODEL OF BC2 TYPE

V. I. Inozemtsev, Ryu Sasaki B

The problem of finding the most general form of the classical integrable relativistic models of many-body interaction of the BCn type is considered. In the simplest nontrivial case of n=2, the extra integral of motion is presented in explicit form within the ansatz similar to the nonrelativistic Calogero–Moser models. The resulting Hamiltonian has been found by solving the set of two functional equations.

The inhomogeneous six-vertex model

Sergii M. Koval

The inhomogeneous six-vertex model is a 2D multiparametric integrable statistical system. In the scaling limit it is expected to cover different classes of critical behaviour, which have remained mostly unexplored. For general values of the parameters and twisted boundary conditions, the model possesses U(1) invariance. We discuss the restrictions imposed on the parameters for which additional global symmetries that are consistent with the integrable structure arise. We also describe the Hermitian structures, which are consistent with the integrable one. The aforementioned general study laid the foundation for performing a detailed study of the scaling limit of a certain critical, integrable inhomogeneous six-vertex model subject to twisted boundary conditions. It is mainly based on a numerical analysis of the Bethe ansatz equations accompanied by the powerful analytic technique of the ODE/IQFT correspondence. The outcome of our study indicates that the critical behaviour of the lattice system is described by the gauged SL(2) WZW model with certain boundary and reality conditions imposed on the fields.

Bethe Ansatz and Classical Hirota Equations

Anton Vladimirovich Zabrodin

A brief non-technical review of the recent study of classical integrable structures in quantum integrable systems is given. It is explained how to identify the standard objects of quantum integrable systems (transfer matrices, Baxter's $Q$-operators, etc) with elements of classical non-linear integrable difference equations ($τ$-functions, Baker-Akhiezer functions, etc). The nested Bethe ansatz equations for $A_{k-1}$-type models emerge as discrete time equations of motion for zeros of classical $τ$-functions and Baker-Akhiezer functions. The connection with discrete time Ruijsenaars-Schneider system of particles is discussed.

The matrix product ansatz for the six-vertex model

Matheus J. Lazo

Recently it was shown that the eigenfunctions for the the asymmetric exclusion problem and several of its generalizations as well as a huge family of quantum chains, like the anisotropic Heisenberg model, Fateev- Zamolodchikov model, Izergin-Korepin model, Sutherland model, t-J model, Hubbard model, etc, can be expressed by a matrix product ansatz. Differently from the coordinate Bethe ansatz, where the eigenvalues and eigenvectors are plane wave combinations, in this ansatz the components of the eigenfunctions are obtained through the algebraic properties of properly defined matrices. In this work, we introduce a formulation of a matrix product ansatz for the six-vertex model with periodic boundary condition, which is the paradigmatic example of integrability in two dimensions. Remarkably, our studies of the six-vertex model are in agreement with the conjecture that all models exactly solved by the Bethe ansatz can also be solved by an appropriated matrix product ansatz.
