Singlet-State Preparation for Three Λ-type Atoms with Rydberg Blockade Mechanism *

Abstract

Abstract A proposal for the generation of singlet states of three Λ-type Rydberg atoms is presented via the interaction between a separate Rydberg state and an EPR pair. Different from previous schemes, we do not need to couple ground states by using microwave lights but to set appropriate frequency detuning between lasers and two atomic transitions between ground states and Rydberg levels to eliminate the degenerate of the two ground states, making the present protocol more easily in experiment. Moreover, a series of numerical simulations are made to show the feasibility.

Efficient Generation of Atomic Singlet State with Rydberg Blockade and Lie‐Transform‐Based Pulse Design

Xinyu Da, Zhi‐Cheng Shi

Abstract A protocol to generate atomic singlet state of three atoms is proposed. The strong Rydberg interactions between atoms mediate the multi‐qubit operations and help to simplify the dynamics of the system. The effective Hamiltonian is constructed in the regime of Rydberg blockade and the evolution path is built up from an initial state to the target singlet state via the Lie‐transform‐based pulse design. Numerical simulations show the protocol can produce atomic singlet state with high fidelity and holds robustness against several types of experimental imperfections. Therefore, it may provide some useful results for the generation of singlet states in atomic system.

Ground-state blockade of Rydberg atoms and application in entanglement generation

Xiao‐Qiang Shao, Dongxiao Li, Yan‐Qiang Ji +2 more

We propose a mechanism of ground-state blockade between two $N$-type Rydberg atoms by virtue of the Rydberg-antiblockade effect and the Raman transition. Inspired by the quantum Zeno effect, the strong Rydberg antiblockade interaction plays a role in frequently measuring one ground state of two, leading to a blockade effect for double occupation of the corresponding quantum state. By encoding the logic qubits into the ground states, we efficiently avoid the spontaneous emission of the excited Rydberg state and maintain the nonlinear Rydberg-Rydberg interaction at the same time. As applications, we discuss in detail the feasibility of preparing two-atom and three-atom entanglement with ground-state blockade in closed and open systems, respectively, which shows that a high fidelity of the entangled state can be obtained with current experimental parameters.

Steady three-dimensional dark state entanglement in dissipative Rydberg atoms

Shi‐Lei Su

Scheme to prepare three-dimensional entangled state between a pair of Rydberg atoms is proposed via dissipative dynamics and Electromagnetic Induced Transparency (EIT) associated with the single-atom dark state. The prepared entangled state is the dark state of the whole system. The schemes are feasible no matter the system initially in arbitrary purity or mixed states and do not have accurate requirements on evolution time. In contrast to most of the former Rydberg-atombased dissipative schemes, the Rydberg-Rydberg interaction (RRI) strength do not need to satisfy a certain relation with laser detuning since it works in the blockade as well as intermediate regimes.

Generation of three-dimensional entanglement between two antiblockade Rydberg atoms with detuning-compensation-induced effective resonance

Cong Wang, Jin‐Xuan Han, Jin‐Lei Wu +4 more

Abstract We propose a scheme for generating the three-dimensional (3D) entanglement between two Rydberg atoms. Two laser fields are imposed to drive two transitions of each atom. The Rydberg antiblockade is induced through the suitable choice of the relation among parameters. We propose to offset Stark shifts by introducing detuning compensation so as to induce an effective resonant three-level system concluding two collective ground states and the double-excitation state, instead of introducing the complicated auxiliary levels and laser fields. Four 3D entangled states are calculated out, and numerical simulations show that the high-fidelity 3D entanglement can be generated. The effect of the spontaneous radiations of the Rydberg states on the generation of the 3D entanglement is analyzed. In addition, we show the numerical search algorithm so as to get optimized parameters for shortening operation time and thus decreasing the decoherence accumulation.

Generation of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Pairs of Atoms

E. W. Hagley, Xavier Maı̂tre, Gilles Nogues +4 more

Pairs of atoms have been prepared in an entangled state of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) type. They were produced by the exchange of a single photon between the atoms in a high $Q$ cavity. The atoms, entangled in a superposition involving two different circular Rydberg states, were separated by a distance of the order of 1 cm. At variance with most previous EPR experiments, this one involves massive particles. It can be generalized to three or more atoms and opens the way to new tests of nonlocality in mesoscopic quantum systems.

Teleportation of Atomic States for Atoms in a Lambda Configuration

E. S. Guerra

In this article we discuss a scheme of teleportation of atomic states making use of three-level lambda atoms. The experimental realization proposed makes use of cavity QED involving the interaction of Rydberg atoms with a micromaser cavity prepared in a coherent state. We start presenting a scheme to prepare atomic EPR states involving two-level atoms via the interaction of these atoms with a cavity. In our scheme the cavity and some atoms play the role of auxiliary systems used to achieve the teleportation.
