Abstract

We investigate spin squeezing (SS) and the quantum Fisher information (QFI) for the Jaynes-Cummings Dicke (JC-Dicke) model in a two component atomic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) inside an optical cavity. Analytical expressions for spin squeezing and the reciprocal of the quantum Fisher information per particle (RMQFI) are derived using the frozen spin approximation. It is shown that in the superradiant phase near the critical point, maximum squeezing and maximum quantum entanglement occurs. The present study is relevant to quantum information processing and precision spectroscopy.

Enhanced spin squeezing and quantum entanglement near the critical point of the Jaynes–Cummings–Dicke model

Aranya B. Bhattacherjee, Deepti Sharma

We investigate spin squeezing (SS) and the quantum Fisher information (QFI) for the Jaynes–Cummings–Dicke (JCD) model in a two-component atomic Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) inside an optical cavity. Analytical expressions for spin squeezing and the reciprocal of the quantum Fisher information per particle (RMQFI) are derived using the frozen spin approximation. It is shown that in the superradiant phase near the critical point, maximum squeezing and maximum quantum entanglement occur and thus the critical point emerges as a useful resource for precision measurements. In the presence of decoherence and particle loss, we show that gradually with time, even though the ability of squeezing and entanglement generation are weakened, yet significant amounts are still present which can be relevant to quantum information processing and precision spectroscopy.

Quantum Fisher information as a signature of the superradiant quantum phase transition

Teng-Long Wang, Ling-Na Wu, Wen Yang +3 more

doi:10.1088/1367-2630/16/6/063039 The single-mode Dicke model is well known to undergo a quantum phase transition from the so-called normal phase to the superradiant phase (hereinafter called the ‘superradiant quantum phase transition’). Normally, quantum phase transitions can be identified by the critical behavior of quantities such as entanglement, quantum fluctuations, and fidelity. In this paper, we study the role of the quantum Fisher information (QFI) of both the field mode and the atoms in the ground state of the Dicke Hamiltonian. For a finite but large number of atoms, our numerical results show that near the critical atom-field coupling, the QFI of the atomic and the field subsystems can surpass their classical limits, due to the appearance of nonclassical quadrature squeezing. As the coupling increases far beyond the critical point, each subsystem becomes a highly mixed state, which degrades the QFI and hence the ultimate phase sensitivity. In the thermodynamic limit, we present the analytical results of the QFI and their relationship with the reduced variances of the field mode and the atoms. For each subsystem, we find that there is a singularity in the derivative of the QFI at the critical point, a clear signature of the quantum criticality in the Dicke model.

Critical behavior of quantum Fisher information in finite-size open Dicke model

Yu Meng, Yang Yang, Heng-Na Xiong +1 more

We explore the steady-state critical behavior of the finite-size open Dicke model—a model that incorporates spontaneous emission decay of the collective atomic spin states and decay of the cavity field. From the perspective of quantum information theory, we can often better characterize the quantum phase transition. In this paper, we characterize the super-radiant phase transition of the steady state of the open Dicke model by numerically calculating the quantum Fisher information (QFI). We calculate the QFI for the atomic state and the cavity field state, as well as their derivatives. We find that the QFI of the cavity field state is more sensitive to atomic decay, and is suppressed more severely in the presence of atomic decay. In contrast, the QFI of the atomic state is less sensitive to the photon loss of the cavity field.

We consider a previously modified Jaynes-Cummings model with single-photon cavity radiation field and atomic system exchanging a squeezed photon and deduce a normal/superradiance quantum phase transition in the Dicke model of N atoms of arbitrary spin with independent co- and counter-rotating coupling terms.

Critically enhanced spin-nematic squeezing and entanglement in dipolar spinor condensates

Qing-Shou Tan, Yixiao Huang, Qiongtao Xie +1 more

We study the quantum critical effect enhanced spin-nematic squeezing and quantum Fisher information (QFI) in the spin-1 dipolar atomic Bose-Einstein condensate. We show that the quantum phase transitions can improve the squeezing and QFI in the nearby regime of the critical point, and the Heisenberg-limited high-precision metrology can be obtained. The different properties of the ground squeezing and entanglement under even and odd number of atoms are further analyzed, by calculating the exact analytical expressions. We also demonstrate the squeezing and entanglement generated by the spin-mixing dynamics around the phase-transition point. It is shown that the steady squeezing and entanglement can be obtained, and the Bogoliubov approximation can well describe the dynamics of spin-nematic squeezed vacuum state.
