Abstract

We analytically study the optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) in the N-cavity system with the Nth cavity driven by pump, probing laser fields and the 1st cavity coupled to mechanical oscillator. We also consider that one atom could be trapped in the ith cavity. Instead of only illustrating the OMIT in such a system, we are interested in how the number of OMIT windows is influenced by the cavities and the atom and what roles the atom could play in different cavities. In the resolved sideband regime, we find that, the number of cavities precisely determines the maximal number of OMIT windows. It is interesting that, when the two-level atom is trapped in the even-labeled cavity, the central absorptive peak (odd N) or dip (even N) is split and forms an extra OMIT window, but if the atom is trapped in the odd-labeled cavity, the central absorptive peak (odd N) or dip (even N) is only broadened and thus changes the width of the OMIT windows rather than induces an extra window.

The effect of oscillator and dipole-dipole interaction on multiple optomechanically induced transparency in cavity optomechanical system

Jin-Lou Ma, Lei Tan, Qing Li +2 more

We theoretically investigate the optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) phenomenon in a N-cavity optomechanical system doped with a pair of Rydberg atoms with the presence of a strong control field and a weak probe field applied to the Nth cavity. It is found that 2N - 1 (N < 10) numbers of OMIT windows can be observed in the output field when N cavities couple with N mechanical oscillators and the mechanical oscillators coupled with different even- or odd-labelled cavities can lead to diverse effects on OMIT. Furthermore, the ATS effect appears with the increase of the effective optomechanical coupling rate. On the other hand, two additional transparent windows (extra resonances) occur, when two Rydberg atoms are coupled with the cavity field. With DDI strength increasing, the extra resonances move to the far off-resonant regime but the left one moves slowly than the right one due to the positive detuning effect of DDI. During this process, Fano resonance also emerges in the absorption profile of output field.

Analog multicolor optomechanically induced transparency in a distant cavity-optomechanical system assisted by a three-level atomic medium

Abstract The multiple optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) of a compound optomechanical system is studied. The system contains two distant cavities and one of the cavity is filled with a three-level atomic medium. We focus on the number of OMIT windows, which is influenced by the coherent interactions between the system components. We find that four transparency windows can be observed from the output field at the probe frequency. When some of the internal interactions disappear, the number of transparent windows decreases. Moreover, we studied the influence of various factors on OMIT. The results show that the number and the width of the transparent windows are affected by the classical driving power, the coupling strength (between cavity field and atoms or between the two cavities), as well as the Rabi frequency. Our study provides a great flexibility for phonon storage and has potential applications in quantum information processing.

Hybrid electromagnetically-optomechanically induced transparency in an atom-assisted optomechanical system

Kai-Hui Gu, Dong Yan, Xin Wang +2 more

Abstract We study the reflected and transmitted output properties of a weak probe field incident upon an optomechanical cavity separated by a membrane oscillator and filled with two-level cold atoms. We find that electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) may simultaneously exist owing to separate cavity–atom coupling and cavity-oscillator coupling, respectively. It is more interesting that the hybrid EIT and OMIT phenomena can be manipulated on demand to exhibit various spectral features on dispersion, transmission, and reflection. In particular, we discover the new hybrid double transparency window (a narrow OMIT dip appearing inside the wide EIT window), analogous to double EIT for a four-level atomic system in inverted-Y configuration. Meanwhile, we can reduce the hybrid EIT–OMIT to a single EIT or OMIT shape by changing the magnitude of the driving field power or the atomic number as desired. Furthermore, by changing the system’s detuning it is possible to change the location and the profile of the EIT, therefore switching the shape of the hybrid EIT–OMIT from symmetric to asymmetric, as well as for the profile to change from a absorption dip-like EIT to dispersion-like EIT in both real and imaginary parts of the output probe field. Also, by modifying system’s detuning we have control over the distribution of the output energy, something difficult to achieve with only one of the sub-systems available.

Multiple optomechanically induced transparency in the hybrid optomechanical system with the two-level and three-level atomic ensembles

Gongtao Yu, Guixia Pan, Yongyang Yu +10 more

Abstract We investigate the optomechanically induced transparency in a hybrid optomechanical system, which consists of two optical cavities and a mechanical resonator. The two-level and three-level atomic ensembles are trapped in the two optical cavities, respectively. We focus on the changes in the number and width of transparency windows and the position of transparent points under different conditions influenced by various interactions. Five transparency windows can be observed when all the interactions are on. The introduction of two-level and three-level atomic ensembles can increase the number of transparency windows and also provide better flexibility for controlling the width of the transparency windows. Specifically, the two-level and three-level atomic ensembles contribute one and two transparency windows, respectively. The stronger coupling results in the larger transparency windows and movement of the transparent points. Moreover, we also study the slow/fast light phenomenon through the variation of phase and group delay. These results may contribute to the research of nonlinear optics and have potential applications in optical signal processing and communication.

Optomechanically induced transparency with Bose–Einstein condensate in double-cavity optomechanical system

Liwei Liu, Duojie Gengzang, Xiu-Jia An +1 more

We propose a novel technique of generating multiple optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) of a weak probe field in hybrid optomechanical system. This system consists of a cigar-shaped Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC), trapped inside each high finesse Fabry-Pérot cavity. In the resolved sideband regime, the analytic solutions of the absorption and the dispersion spectrum are given. The tunneling strength of the two resonators and the coupling parameters of the each BEC in combination with the cavity field have the appearance of three distinct OMIT windows in the absorption spectrum. Furthermore, whether there is BEC in each cavity is a key factor in the number of OMIT windows determination. The technique presented may have potential applications in quantum engineering and quantum information networks.

Multiple transparency in a multimode quadratic coupling optomechanical system with an ensemble of three-level atoms

Qing He, Fazal Badshah, Rafi Ud Din +3 more

We theoretically investigate a multimode quadratic coupling optomechanical system (OMS) assisted with N cold Λ-type three-level atoms. The coupling interaction between two mechanical membranes (MR1 and MR2) and the cavity is quadratic. The three-level atoms interact with an external controlling field and an internal cavity field. The optical cavity is driven by a strong coupling field and a weak probe field. In the resolved sideband regime, four transparency windows are obtained due to the atomic coherence and quadratic coupling in the absorption spectrum for the suitable choice of the controlling parameters. We analyze how to vary the number of the transparency window dips and to adjust their mutual spacing by changing the controlling parameters such as strength of the quadratic coupling between MR1 (MR2) and the cavity, the collective coupling strength between the atomic ensemble and the cavity field, the Rabi frequency associated with the coupling interaction between the controlling field and the three-level atom, power of the coupling field, different frequencies and decay rates of MR1 (MR2), decay rate of the cavity field, and the environmental temperature. Further, we also demonstrate the normal-mode splitting in the generated Stokes and anti-Stokes field in the OMS, where the changing collective coupling strength affects the splitting width of the output field at the Stokes (anti-Stokes) frequency.
