Abstract

In this paper we propose a superadiabatic protocol where quantum state transfer can be achieved with arbitrarily high accuracy and minimal control across long spin chains with an odd number of spins. The quantum state transfer protocol only requires the control of the couplings between the qubits on the edge and the spin chain. We predict fidelities above 0.99 for an evolution of nanoseconds using typical spin-exchange coupling values of $\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{eV}$. Furthermore, by building a superadiabatic formalism on top of this protocol, we propose an effective superadiabatic protocol that retains the minimal control over the spin chain and further improves the fidelity.

Efficient quantum state transfer in spin chains via adiabatic passage

K. Eckert, Oriol Romero‐Isart, Anna Sanpera

We propose a method for quantum state transfer in spin chains using an adiabatic passage technique. Modifying even and odd nearest-neighbour couplings in time allows transfer fidelities arbitrarily close to one to be achieved, without the need for precise control of coupling strengths and timing. We study in detail transfer by adiabatic passage in a spin-1 chain governed by a generalized Heisenberg Hamiltonian. We consider optimization of the transfer process applying optimal control techniques. We discuss a realistic experimental implementation using cold atomic gases confined in deep optical lattices.

High-dimensional quantum state transfer through a quantum spin chain

Wei Qin, Chuan Xi Wang, Gui Lu Long

In this paper, we investigate a high-dimensional quantum state transfer protocol. An arbitrary unknown high-dimensional state can be transferred with high fidelity between two remote registers through an $XX$ coupling spin chain of arbitrary length. The evolution of the state transfer is determined by the natural dynamics of the chain without external modulation and coupling strength engineering. As a consequence, entanglement distribution with a high efficiency can be achieved. Also the strong field and high spin quantum number can partly counteract the effect of finite temperature to ensure the high fidelity of the protocol when the quantum data bus is in the thermal equilibrium state under an external magnetic field.

Quantum state transfer in spin chains via shortcuts to adiabaticity

Bi‐Hua Huang, Yi‐Hao Kang, Ye‐Hong Chen +3 more

Based on shortcuts to adiabaticity and quantum Zeno dynamics, we present a protocol to implement quantum state transfer (QST) in a quantum spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ chain. In the protocol, the complex Hamiltonian of an $N$-site system is simplified, and a simple effective Hamiltonian is present. It is shown that only the control of the coupling strengths between the boundary spins and the bulk spins are required for QST. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the protocol possesses high efficiency and is robust against the decay and the fluctuations of the control fields. The protocol might provide an alternative choice for transferring quantum states via spin chain systems.

Counterdiabatic transfer of a quantum state in a tunable Heisenberg spin chain via the variational principle

Yunlan Ji, Feifei Zhou, Xi Chen +4 more

We present a couple of counterdiabatic (CD) schemes for a rapid and high-fidelity transfer of quantum state across a one-dimensional spin chain, between two weakly coupled external qubits at each end. Employing the effective low-energy Hamiltonian of the system, we first construct the optimal CD terms based on the variational principle and then put forward two experimentally feasible shortcuts, which only need to manipulate couplings between the external qubits and chain. Compared to traditional adiabatic protocol, the resulting schemes allow a drastic increase in state-transfer fidelity in a short time. Furthermore, numerical simulation demonstrates that our speed-up protocols hold robustness against the imperfections of control fields and evolution time. The proposed schemes may be applicable to fast quantum-information transport in various spin-based physical systems.

Quantum-state transfer in spin chains via isolated resonance of terminal spins

Kamil Korzekwa, Paweł Machnikowski, Paweł Horodecki

We propose a quantum-state transfer protocol in a spin chain that requires only the control of the spins at the ends of the quantum wire. The protocol is to a large extent insensitive to inhomogeneity caused by local magnetic fields and perturbation of exchange couplings. Moreover, apart from the free evolution regime, it allows one to induce an adiabatic spin transfer, which provides the possibility of performing the transfer on demand. We also show that the amount of information leaking into the central part of the chain is small throughout the whole transfer process (which protects the information sent from being eavesdropped) and can be controlled by the magnitude of the external magnetic field.

Time-Optimal Quantum State Transfer in Long Qubit Chains

Kseniia S. Chernova, Andrei A. Stepanenko, Maxim A. Gorlach

Recent progress in quantum technologies enables the fabrication of large-scale qubit arrays, but their optimal control remains challenging. In our work, we present a protocol for perfect quantum state transfer in a nearest-neighbor coupled chain of qubits, achieving maximal fidelity and minimal transfer time simultaneously. We apply the quantum brachistochrone method and obtain a protocol for the transfer of Fock and Bell states. Our solution reaches the fundamental quantum speed limit in the lattices with time-varying couplings.
