Abstract

To each hyperbolic Landau level of the Poincaré disc is attached a generalized negative binomial distribution. In this paper, we compute the moment generating function of this distribution and supply its atomic decomposition as a perturbation of the negative binomial distribution by a finitely supported measure. Using the Mandel parameter, we also discuss the nonclassical nature of the associated coherent states. Next, we derive a Lévy-Khintchine-type representation of its characteristic function when the latter does not vanish and deduce that it is quasi-infinitely divisible except for the lowest hyperbolic Landau level corresponding to the negative binomial distribution. By considering the total variation of the obtained quasi-Lévy measure, we introduce a new infinitely divisible distribution for which we derive the characteristic function.

Generalized Binomial Probability Distributions Attached to LandauLevels on the Riemann Sphere

Allal Ghanmi, Ali Hafoud, Zouhaı̈r Mouayn

A family of generalized binomial probability distributions attached to Landau levels on the Riemann sphere is introduced by constructing a kind of generalized coherent states. Their main statistical parameters are obtained explicitly. As an application, photon number statistics related to coherent states under consideration are discussed.

Coherent states attached to Landau levels on the Poincaré disc

Zouhaı̈r Mouayn

We construct a family of generalized coherent states attached to Landau levels of a charged particle moving in the Poincaré disc under a perpendicular uniform magnetic field. The corresponding coherent state transforms enable us to connect, by an integral transform, spaces of bound states of the particle with the space of square integrable functions on the real line. The established connection provides us with a new way to obtain hyperbolic Landau states.

THE QUANTUM DECOMPOSITION OF RANDOM VARIABLES WITHOUT MOMENTS

Luigi Accardi, Habib Rebei, Anis Riahi

The quantum decomposition of a classical random variable is one of the deep results of quantum probability: it shows that any classical random variable or stochastic process has a built-in non-commutative structure which is intrinsic and canonical, and not artificially put by hands. Up to now the technique to deduce the quantum decomposition has been based on the theory of interacting Fock spaces and on Jacobi's tri-diagonal relation for orthogonal polynomials. Therefore it requires the existence of moments of any order and cannot be applied to random variables without this property. The problem to find an analogue of the quantum decomposition for random variables without finite moments of any order remained open for about fifteen years and nobody had any idea of how such a decomposition could look like. In the present paper we prove that any infinitely divisible random variable has a quantum decomposition canonically associated to its Lévy–Khintchin triple. The analytical formulation of this result is based on Kolmogorov representation of these triples in terms of 1–cocycles (helices) in Hilbert spaces and on the Araki–Woods–Parthasarathy–Schmidt characterization of these representation in terms of Fock spaces. It distinguishes three classes of random variables: (i) with finite second moment; (ii) with finite first moment only; (iii) without any moment. The third class involves a new type of renormalization based on the associated Lévy–Khinchin function.

Even and odd Wigner negative binomial states: Nonclassical properties

B. Mojaveri, Alireza Dehghani

By using Wigner–Heisenberg algebra (WHA) and its Fock representation, even and odd Wigner negative binomial states (WNBSs) [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text] corresponds to the ordinary even and odd negative binomial states (NBSs)) are introduced. These states can be reduced to the Wigner cat states in special limit. We establish the resolution of identity property for them through a positive definite measure on the unit disc. Some of their nonclassical properties, such as Mandel’s parameter and quadrature squeezing have been investigated numerically. We show that in contrast with the even NBSs, even WNBSs may exhibit sub-Poissonian statistics. Also squeezing in the field quadratures appears for both even and odd WNBSs. It is found that the deformation parameter [Formula: see text] plays an essential role in displaying highly nonclassical behaviors.

Quasiprobability distributions of negative binomial states

Richard D’Souza, Adya Prasad Mishra

We present the s-parametrized quasiprobability distributions for the negative binomial states. Marked changes in the quasiprobability distributions W(\ensuremath{\alpha},\ensuremath{\epsilon},s) are exhibited by states that are close to the random-phase coherent state (\ensuremath{\epsilon}=0), as the parameter s is varied continuously from s=-1, corresponding to the Q function, to s=1, corresponding to the P function. However, states close to the thermal-noise state (\ensuremath{\epsilon}=1) exhibit the usual Gaussian-like distributions for all values of s.

Husimi's Q-function isotonic oscillator in a generalized negative binomial states representation

Zouhaı̈r Mouayn

While considering a class of generalized negative binomial states, we verify that the basic minimum properties for these states to be considered as coherent states are satisfied. We particularize them for the case of the Hamiltonian of the isotonic oscillator and we determine the corresponding Husimi's Q-function. This function may be used to determine a lower bound for the thermodynamical potential of the Hamiltonian by applying a Berezin-Lieb inequality
