Abstract

We consider the Temperley–Lieb (TL) open quantum spin chain with “free” boundary conditions associated with the spin- s representation of quantum-deformed s l ( 2 ) . We construct the transfer matrix, and determine its eigenvalues and the corresponding Bethe equations using analytical Bethe ansatz. We show that the transfer matrix has quantum group symmetry, and we propose explicit formulas for the number of solutions of the Bethe equations and the degeneracies of the transfer-matrix eigenvalues. We propose an algebraic Bethe ansatz construction of the off-shell Bethe states, and we conjecture that the on-shell Bethe states are highest-weight states of the quantum group. We also propose a determinant formula for the scalar product between an off-shell Bethe state and its on-shell dual, as well as for the square of the norm. We find that all of these results, except for the degeneracies and a constant factor in the scalar product, are universal in the sense that they do not depend on the value of the spin. In an appendix, we briefly consider the closed TL spin chain with periodic boundary conditions, and show how a previously-proposed solution can be improved so as to obtain the complete (albeit non-universal) spectrum.

Algebraic Bethe ansatz for the Temperley–Lieb spin-1 chain

Rafael I. Nepomechie, Rodrigo A. Pimenta

We use the algebraic Bethe ansatz to obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the spin-1 Temperley–Lieb open quantum chain with “free” boundary conditions. We exploit the associated reflection algebra in order to prove the off-shell equation satisfied by the Bethe vectors.

Counting solutions of the Bethe equations of the quantum group invariant open XXZ chain at roots of unity

Azat M. Gainutdinov, Wenrui Hao, Rafael I Nepomechie +1 more

We consider the -invariant open spin-1/2 XXZ quantum spin chain of finite length N . For the case that q is a root of unity, we propose a formula for the number of admissible solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations in terms of dimensions of irreducible representations of the Temperley–Lieb algebra; and a formula for the degeneracies of the transfer matrix eigenvalues in terms of dimensions of tilting -modules. These formulas include corrections that appear if two or more tilting modules are spectrum-degenerate. For the XX case ( ), we give explicit formulas for the number of admissible solutions and degeneracies. We also consider the cases of generic q and the isotropic ( ) limit. Numerical solutions of the Bethe equations up to N = 8 are presented. Our results are consistent with the Bethe ansatz solution being complete.

Counting solutions of the Bethe equations of the quantum group invariant open XXZ chain at roots of unity

We consider the sl(2)_q-invariant open spin-1/2 XXZ quantum spin chain of finite length N. For the case that q is a root of unity, we propose a formula for the number of admissible solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations in terms of dimensions of irreducible representations of the Temperley-Lieb algebra; and a formula for the degeneracies of the transfer matrix eigenvalues in terms of dimensions of tilting sl(2)_q-modules. These formulas include corrections that appear if two or more tilting modules are spectrum-degenerate. For the XX case (q=exp(i pi/2)), we give explicit formulas for the number of admissible solutions and degeneracies. We also consider the cases of generic q and the isotropic (q->1) limit. Numerical solutions of the Bethe equations up to N=8 are presented. Our results are consistent with the Bethe ansatz solution being complete.

Bethe ansatz for the Temperley–Lieb spin chain with integrable open boundaries

G A P Ribeiro, A Lima-Santos

In this paper we study the spectrum of the spin-1 Temperley-Lieb spin chain with integrable open boundary conditions. We obtain the eigenvalue expressions as well as its associated Bethe ansatz equations by means of the coordinate Bethe ansatz. These equations provide the complete description of the spectrum of the model.

On quantum group symmetry and Bethe ansatz for the asymmetric twin spin chain with integrable boundary

Anastasia Doikou, Paul Martin

Motivated by a study of the crossing symmetry of the asymmetric twin or ‘gemini’ representation of the affine Hecke algebra we give a construction for crossing tensor space representations of ordinary Hecke algebras. These representations build solutions to the Yang–Baxter equation satisfying the crossing condition (that is, integrable quantum spin chains). We show that every crossing representation of the Temperley–Lieb algebra appears in this construction, and in particular that this construction builds new representations. We extend these to new representations of the blob algebra, which build new solutions to the boundary Yang–Baxter equation (i.e. open spin chains with integrable boundary conditions). We prove that the open spin chain Hamiltonian derived from Sklyanin’s commuting transfer matrix using such a solution can always be expressed as the representation of an element of the blob algebra, and determine this element. We determine the representation theory (irreducible content) of the new representations and hence show that all such Hamiltonians have the same spectrum up to multiplicity, for any given value of the algebraic boundary parameter. (A corollary is that our models have the same spectrum as the open XXZ chain with nondiagonal boundary—despite differing from this model in having reference states.) Using these multiplicity data, and other ideas, we investigate the underlying quantum group symmetry of the new Hamiltonians. We derive the form of the spectrum and the Bethe ansatz equations.

Quantum group symmetries and completeness for A 2 n ( 2 ) open spin chains

Ibrahim Ahmed, Rafael I. Nepomechie, Wang Chunguang

Abstract We argue that the Hamiltonians for A 2 n ( 2 ) open quantum spin chains corresponding to two choices of integrable boundary conditions have the symmetries U q ( B n ) and U q ( C n ) , respectively. We find a formula for the Dynkin labels of the Bethe states (which determine the degeneracies of the corresponding eigenvalues) in terms of the numbers of Bethe roots of each type. With the help of this formula, we verify numerically (for a generic value of the anisotropy parameter) that the degeneracies and multiplicities of the spectra implied by the quantum group symmetries are completely described by the Bethe ansatz.
