Vectors, Spinors and Galilean Frames

Abstract

The quaternion is a natural representation of the magnetic moment of the fundamental particles. Under the hopf-fibration the parameter space of the quaternion separates into an intrinsic and extrinsic parameter space, and accounts for the intrinsic and extrinsic spin of the fundamental particles. The intrinsic parameter space is the global, geometric and dynamic phases which are presented in this article in full generality. The equivalence between the quantum and classical equations of motion is established, and the global phase of the quaternion is shown to be a natural hidden variable which deterministically accounts for the results of the Stern-Gerlach experiment.

Paper XI: Quantum Mechanics as a Geometric Consequence of the Quaternionic Vacuum

Yunus Emre Tikbaş

The complete mathematical structure of non-relativistic quantum mechanics — Hilbert space, canonical commutation relations, the uncertainty principle, the de Broglie relation, the Schrödinger equation, the Born rule, spin-statistics, and quantum entanglement — is shown to be derivable from three geometric axioms: the spatial universe is an S³ hypersurface propagating at velocity c through the quaternionic vacuum H ≅ ℝ⁴, subject to an isoclinic rotation enforced by the extremality condition. Phase space and quantisation of ℏ. The null constraint |v₄| = c forces the phase space to be T*S³. The Hopf fibration S¹ ↪ S³ → S² with first Chern class c₁ = 1 quantises the symplectic flux, determining Planck's constant ℏ as both the minimum symplectic area and the conserved Noether charge of the contact-conformal symmetry. The universality of ℏ — its identical value across all particles and interactions — is proved to be a consequence of the isoclinic condition: only isoclinic rotation preserves the Hopf fibration structure required for symplectic flux quantisation. Five principal results. (i) Born rule. The probability measure |ψ|² arises from marginalisation over the inaccessible Hopf fibre coordinate; it is not postulated. (ii) Quantum entanglement. Entanglement is topological, forced by the universal Hopf linking number lk = 1. (iii) Bell correlations. The correlator E(a,b) = −a·b is a consequence of SO(4) rotational invariance on S³, without hidden-variable supplementation. (iv) Classical–quantum decomposition. Classical physics is the radial projection of the membrane dynamics; quantum mechanics is its rotational projection. The two regimes are not separate postulates but orthogonal projections of a single geometric structure. (v) Quantisation obstruction. The Groenewold–van Hove quantisation obstruction does not apply to S³ because C^∞(S³) = U(su(2)) by the Peter–Weyl theorem; the algebra of observables is globally well-defined. Falsifiable predictions. Two predictions are stated with explicit observational protocols: — No gravitational decoherence: the geometric origin of ℏ implies that gravitational interaction cannot degrade entanglement coherence. Testable with the MAQRO space mission via matter-wave interferometry at mass scales m ~ 10⁻¹⁷ kg over baseline ~ 10³ km. — Perfect Bell correlations at arbitrary separation: the topological origin of entanglement (lk = 1) predicts no geometric suppression of Bell correlations with increasing spatial separation, in contrast to models coupling entanglement to background curvature.

Unit quaternions and the Bloch sphere

K B Wharton, D Koch

The spinor representation of spin-1/2 states can equally well be mapped to a single unit quaternion, yielding a new perspective despite the equivalent mathematics. This paper first demonstrates a useable map that allows Bloch-sphere rotations to be represented as quaternionic multiplications, simplifying the form of the dynamical equations. Left-multiplications generally correspond to non-unitary transformations, providing a simpler (essentially classical) analysis of time-reversal. But the quaternion viewpoint also reveals a surprisingly large broken symmetry, as well as a potential way to restore it, via a natural expansion of the state space that has parallels to second order fermions. This expansion to ‘second order qubits’ would imply either a larger gauge freedom or a natural space of hidden variables.

Quantum Mechanics as Real Geometry: Curvature, Torsion, and Holonomy

Kwon, Se Kyun

While the complex formalism of quantum mechanics has been extraordinarily successful, the fundamental geometric origin of its core elements—the imaginary unit, operator non-commutativity, quantum phase, and the intrinsic geometry with quantum spin—has remained unresolved for more than a century. Here we resolve these foundational questions by deriving an exact and physically equivalent formulation of the Schrödinger equation as a Real Geometric Flow—a moving-frame evolution on a 2𝑁-dimensional real state space. In this restored framework, the global imaginary unit 𝑖 fully decomposes into a set of local skew-symmetric generators that drive planar rotations in real space, revealing that the traditional complex formalism is a compressed representation of an intrinsic rotational geometry.Within the real geometric flow, energy eigenvalues appear as the Curvatures of the state trajectory, energy gaps correspond to Torsions that couple internal planes—naturally generating the geometry of quantum spin—and quantum phase emerges naturally as the Holonomy of the real moving frame. This formulation preserves the full empirical content of quantum mechanics while exposing the geometric mechanisms hidden beneath its notation, providing the first coherent explanation of curvature, torsion, non-commutativity, spin behavior, and quantum phase within a single framework.By demonstrating that the algebraic postulates of quantum mechanics arise from a deeper geometric order—one that stands alongside curvature-based theories such as General Relativity—this work establishes a unified differential-geometric foundation for quantum dynamics. It opens new directions for quantum control, quantum information, and fundamental physics.

Connection Between Dirac's Electron and a Classical Spinning Particle

Feza Gürsey

A connection is established between the classical and wave mechanics of a spinning relativistic particle. In the case of a plane wave comprising both positive and negative energies, the 4-dimensional stream-lines of the current density 4-vector coincide with the world-lines of a classical particle. Moreover, the wave function represents the spinor (or quaternion) which determines the generalized intrinsic frame of reference attached to the world-line of the classical particle. This provides a geometrical interpretation for the unquantized Dirac field as well as for the total angular momentum.
