COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CLASSICAL AND QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY APPROACHES: REVIEW AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Ruwayda Q. Alharbi, Soha S. Zaghloul

Maths-based cryptography has prevailed for years in the world of information security. Although this approach has succeeded till now, but it still has its drawbacks such as loopholes and life expectancy problem. Researchers found that Quantum Cryptography, which is based on the laws of physics, might be a good alternative. Therefore, we were motivated to analyze a number of research papers in the field. This paper studies both approaches, their advantages, disadvantages, and their expected future. Moreover, it exposes the basic principles of Quantum Cryptography as well as its protocols. It explains why Quantum Cryptography is considered as an alternative to the Classical Cryptography. In addition, it highlights the status of Quantum Cryptography in research nowadays. Finally, we predict which approach will dominate the world of information security in the far future.

Quantum Cryptography: The Future of Internet and Security Management

Faisal Abbasi, Pawan Singh

In today’s world, cryptography techniques are used and implemented on the elementary method of finding the prime factor of large integer, which is said to be “Inevitable to Track”. But living in an era where nothing is impossible to achieve, so cryptographic techniques are exposed to both technologies’ advancement in computational power of machines and advancement in the fields of mathematics to break the notion that factoring of large integers into their prime is impossible. To cope up with the threat that cryptography will face is handled by fusion of physics into cryptography, leading to the evolution of Quantum Cryptography. It is one of the fast-growing fields in computer technology. In this paper, I am going to brief the concepts of Quantum Cryptography and how this technology has led to the development of the strategy of complete secure key distribution. The paper covers the loophole present in the modern cryptography techniques, the fundamental principle of quantum cryptography, its implementation in the real world along with the limitation faced in this field, and the possible future of quantum cryptography.

Cryptography is a popular term in this modern world of digital era which has achieved a great focus and interest in the modern inter-connected digital world. There is a lot of productive research underway in such domain of communication so as to make it more secure, because it is the most fundamental technique used in day-to-day life of the common people as well as cyber professionals. Over time, the field of cryptography has experienced various breakthroughs that are being driven by the progress of quantum cryptography. Unsurprisingly, in this digital age of modern times, quantum cryptography is one of the new and efficient means of secure communication. Quantum cryptography syndicates the concepts of quantum physics to project safe channels to achieve secure communication. The calibre of research being done in the realm of quantum cryptography is set to rise amidst an increasingly volatile digital world. This paper discusses the latest trends of quantum cryptography specifically focussing on the quantum cryptography protocols with a significant contribution of recently published essential research papers with quite good productivity. The primary focus in this paper is concerned with the investigation of quantum cryptography protocols on various grounds such as quantum key distribution strategies, quantum distribution protocols and a comprehensive comparison between the past techniques and recent advancements. In light of these cutting-edge developments, a hybrid framework utilizing quantum cryptography protocols is also proposed. This study synthesizes existing findings to offer insights into quantum cryptography protocols, future challenges, and potential applications.
