The relation between the quantum discord and quantum teleportation: The physical interpretation of the transition point between different quantum discord decay regimes

Abstract

We study quantum teleportation via Bell-diagonal mixed states of two qubits in the context of the intrinsic properties of the quantum discord. We show that when the quantum-correlated state of the two qubits is used for quantum teleportation, the character of the teleportation efficiency changes substantially depending on the Bell-diagonal-state parameters, which can be seen when the worst-case-scenario or best-case-scenario fidelity is studied. Depending on the parameter range, one of two types of single-qubit states is hardest/easiest to teleport. The transition between these two parameter ranges coincides exactly with the transition between the range of classical correlation decay and quantum correlation decay characteristic for the evolution of the quantum discord. The correspondence provides a physical interpretation for the prominent feature of the decay of the quantum discord.

Quantum Correlations and Discord in Werner States for Quantum Teleportation

Saida M. Alkurkushi, Malek Nasser Ali Algabri, Ali Saif M. Hassan

Abstract Quantum teleportation fundamentally depends on shared quantum correlations between spatially separated parties. Although entanglement is widely recognized as the primary resource enabling teleportation, quantum discord represents a more general form of nonclassical correlations that can persist even when entanglement is absent. We provide a thorough analysis combining analytical and numerical evaluations of quantum discord, negativity, and concurrence across varying noise parameters. The study includes simulations under both ide-alized and realistic noisy conditions, incorporating depolarizing noise models alongside experimentally relevant constraints. To improve quantum fidelity and accurately characterize quantum correlations in noisy environments, advanced error mitigation techniques—such as measurement error correction and zero-noise extrapolation—are applied. In this study, we focus on teleportation protocols utilizing two-qubit Werner states, which constitute a significant class of noisy mixed states modeling imperfect entanglement. We systematically examine how the teleportation fidelity varies as a function of the Werner mixing parameter λ and investigate its relationship with the corresponding quantum discord. Our findings indicate that quantum discord remains strictly greater than zero even in parameter regions where entanglement vanishes, emphasizing the role of discord in sustaining quantum advantages in teleportation schemes exposed to noise and imperfections. This highlights the importance of considering non-entanglement quantum correlations for a comprehensive understanding of teleportation resources in realistic settings.

Operational meaning of discord in terms of teleportation fidelity

Satyabrata Adhikari, Subhashish Banerjee

Quantum discord is a prominent measure of quantum correlations, playing an important role in expanding its horizon beyond entanglement. Here we provide an operational meaning of (geometric) discord, which quantifies the amount of nonclassical correlations of an arbitrary quantum system based on its minimal distance from the set of classical states, in terms of teleportation fidelity for general two-qubit and ($d\ensuremath{\bigotimes}d$)-dimensional isotropic and Werner states. A critical value of the discord is found beyond which the two-qubit state must violate Bell's inequality. This is illustrated by an open-system model of a dissipative two-qubit state. For the ($d\ensuremath{\bigotimes}d$)-dimensional states the lower bound of discord is shown to be obtainable from an experimentally measurable witness operator.

Dynamics of Quantum Discord in Asymmetric and Local Non-Markovian Environments

Xiang Hao, Tao Pan, Sha Jin-Qiao +1 more

The non-Markovian decoherence of quantum and classical correlations is analytically obtained when two qubits are asymmetrically subjected to the bit flip channel and phase flip channel. For one class of initial mixed states, quantum correlations quantified by quantum discord decay synchronously with classical correlations. The discovery that the decaying rates of quantum and classical correlations suddenly change at the characteristic time is physically interpreted by the distance from quantum state to the closest classical states. In a large time interval, quantum correlations are greater than classical correlations. The quantum and classical correlations can be preserved over a longer period of time via the kernel characterizing the environment memory effects.

Thermal Quantum Discord and Super Quantum Discord Teleportation Via a Two-Qubit Spin-Squeezing Model

Sodeif Ahadpour, Фороузан Мирмасоуди

We study thermal quantum correlations (quantum discord and super quantum discord) in a two-spin model in an external magnetic field and obtain relations between them and entanglement. We study their dependence on the magnetic field, the strength of the spin squeezing, and the temperature in detail. One interesting result is that when the entanglement suddenly disappears, quantum correlations still survive. We study thermal quantum teleportation in the framework of this model. The main goal is investigating the possibility of increasing the thermal quantum correlations of a teleported state in the presence of a magnetic field, strength of the spin squeezing, and temperature. We note that teleportation of quantum discord and super quantum discord can be realized over a larger temperature range than teleportation of entanglement. Our results show that quantum discord and super quantum discord can be a suitable measure for controlling quantum teleportation with fidelity. Moreover, the presence of entangled states is unnecessary for the exchange of quantum information.

Dynamics super quantum discord and quantum discord teleportation in the Jaynes–Cummings model

Фороузан Мирмасоуди, Sodeif Ahadpour

The aim of this paper is investigation on dynamics of super quantum discord (SQD) and quantum discord (QD) teleportation in the Jaynes–Cummings model. In order to teleport one and two qubit states, a scheme is proposed for quantum channel where is induced from an atom-field interaction. The initial state of the atom is its excited state while the state of field starts in a coherent one. The model reveals that the dynamics of quantum correlations depends crucially on atom-field initial conditions and the field parameters can be utilized as control parameters for optimal teleportation. Interestingly, we find that QD teleportation and SQD teleportation are not always zero when the entanglement falls to zero for a teleported state. This result clearly illustrates that in some cases we can only get a truly quantum teleportation by QD and SQD if we use a suitable field parameters and initial state, which have no entanglement. The results reveal that QD and SQD for teleported states are much robuster than entanglement in the process of communication. According to the results, the proposed scheme can greatly reduce the cost of quantum communication. We also obtain that the behaviour of the QD and SQD teleportation are similar to average fidelity. So, QD and SQD can be used to analyse teleported state as average fidelity.

A study of quantum correlations in open quantum systems

Indranil Chakrabarty, Subhashish Banerjee, Nana Siddharth

In this work, we study quantum correlations in mixed states. The states studied are modeled by a two-qubit system interacting with its environment via a quantum non demolition (purely dephasing) as well as dissipative type of interaction. The entanglement dynamics of this two qubit system is analyzed. We make a comparative study of various measures of quantum correlations, like Concurrence, Bell's inequality, Discord and Teleportation fidelity, on these states, generated by the above evolutions. We classify these evoluted states on basis of various dynamical parameters like bath squeezing parameter $r$, inter-qubit spacing $r_{12}$, temperature $T$ and time of system-bath evolution $t$. In this study, in addition we report the existence of entangled states which do not violate Bell's inequality, but can still be useful as a potential resource for teleportation. Moreover we study the dynamics of quantum as well as classical correlation in presence of dissipative coherence.
