Freezing of quantum correlations under local decoherence

Titas Chanda, Amit Kumar Pal, Anindya Biswas +2 more

We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for freezing of quantum correlations as measured by quantum discord and quantum work deficit in the case of bipartite as well as multipartite states subjected to local noisy channels. We recognize that inhomogeneity of the magnetizations of the shared quantum states plays an important role in the freezing phenomena. We show that the frozen value of the quantum correlation and the time interval for freezing follow a complementarity relation. For states which do not exhibit ``exact'' freezing, but can be frozen ``effectively,'' by having a very slow decay rate with suitable tuning of the state parameters, we introduce an index---the freezing index---to quantify the goodness of freezing. We find that the freezing index can be used to detect quantum phase transitions and discuss the corresponding scaling behavior.

Comparative investigation of freezing phenomena for quantum coherence and correlations

Lian-Wu Yang, Wei Han, Yun‐Jie Xia

We show that the freezing phenomenon, exhibited by a specific class of two-qubit state under local nondissipative decoherent evolutions, is a common feature of the relative entropy measure of quantum coherence and correlation. All those measurement outcomes, preserve a constant value in the considered noisy channels, but the condition, property and mechanism of the freezing phenomenon for quantum coherence are different from those of the quantum correlation.

Observation of interaction induced blockade and local spin freezing in a NMR quantum simulator

V. R. Krithika, Soham Pal, Rejish Nath +1 more

We experimentally emulate interaction induced blockade and local spin freezing in two and three qubit NMR architecture. These phenomena are identical to the Rydberg blockade and Rydberg biased freezing. In Rydberg blockade, the simultaneous excitation of two or more atoms is blocked due to the level shift induced by the strong van der Waal's interaction. In such a strong interaction regime, one can also observe Rydberg biased freezing, wherein the dynamics is confined to a subspace, with the help of multiple drives with unequal amplitudes. Here we drive NMR qubits with specific transition-selective radio waves, while intermittently characterizing the quantum states via quantum state tomography. This not only allows us to track the population dynamics, but also helps to probe quantum correlations, by means of quantum discord, evolving under blockade and freezing phenomena. Our work constitutes experimental simulations of these phenomena in the NMR platform. Moreover, these studies open up interesting quantum control perspectives in exploiting the above phenomena for entanglement generation as well as subspace manipulations.
