Exact solutions of the radial Schrodinger equation for some physical potentials

Sameer M. Ikhdair, R. Sever

By using an ansatz for the eigenfunction, we have obtained the exact analytical solutions of the radial Schrodinger equation for the pseudoharmonic and Kratzer potentials in two dimensions. The energy levels of all the bound states are easily calculated from this eigenfunction ansatz. The normalized wavefunctions are also obtained.

Series Solutions of theN-Dimensional Effective-Mass Schrödinger Equation with the Power Law Potential

Zidong Chen, Gang Chen

In this paper the N -dimensional Schrödinger equation with position-dependent effective mass for any physical potential is derived. As an example, the analytical bound state solutions of the power law potential with the position dependent mass are obtained by series expansion method. The special cases of the Coulomb potential and the harmonic oscillator are discussed.

The bound state solutions of the D-dimensional Schrödinger equation for the Hulthén potential within SUSY quantum mechanics

H. I. Ahmadov, M. V. Qocayeva, N. Sh. Huseynova

In this paper, the analytical solutions of the [Formula: see text]-dimensional hyper-radial Schrödinger equation are studied in great detail for the Hulthén potential. Within the framework, a novel improved scheme to surmount centrifugal term, the energy eigenvalues and corresponding radial wave functions are found for any [Formula: see text] orbital angular momentum case within the context of the Nikiforov–Uvarov (NU) and supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSY QM) methods. In this way, based on these methods, the same expressions are obtained for the energy eigenvalues, and the expression of radial wave functions transforming each other is demonstrated. The energy levels are worked out and the corresponding normalized eigenfunctions are obtained in terms of orthogonal polynomials for arbitrary [Formula: see text] states for [Formula: see text]-dimensional space.

The solution of D-dimensional Schrodinger equation for potential V(r)=ar2+br+cr-1+dr-2+er-3+fr-4 by using Ansatz method

The solution of the Schrodinger equation with the physical potential is important part in quantum mechanics. The anharmonic potential is one of the physical potential that is interesting to be explored. Many methods have been developed to solve the Schrodinger equation. The Ansatz wave function method is one of the many methods that used to solve the Schrodinger equation. The Ansatz wave function method was used to solve the radial part of Schrodinger Equation. In this study we present the solution of the radial part Schrodinger equation in D-dimensional system with potential V(r)=ar2+br+cr-1+dr-2+er-3+fr-4. The important part in Ansatz wave function method is to determine the wave function Ansatz corresponding to the shape of the anharmonic potential that used. The Ansatz wave function determined by using supersymmetric approximation. By substituting the wave function Ansatz into Schrodinger equation and using algebraic we obtain the radial eigenfunction and the energy, and then the eigenfunction visualized.

The infinite square well potential in momentum space

Alberto G. Rojo, P. R. Berman

Abstract We address an interesting problem in elementary quantum mechanics, namely how can one obtain the momentum state eigenfunctions for the infinite square well potential as a direct solution of the time-independent Schrödinger equation in momentum space. The conventional method for obtaining the momentum state eigenfunctions for the infinite square well potential is to take the Fourier transform of the coordinate space eigenfunctions. Unfortunately, the Schrödinger equation in momentum space for the infinite well potential is not well-defined. As such we must use a potential whose Fourier transform is well-defined and then take a limit in which the potential approaches that of the infinite well potential. We present three approaches to the problem: one based on dimensional analysis, one in which the infinite well potential is viewed as the limit of a finite well whose depth approaches infinity, and one in which the infinite well potential is viewed as the limit of a power law potential in the limit that the power approaches infinity.
