Abstract

Employing the quadratic fermionic Hamiltonians for the collective and internal subsystems with a linear coupling, we studied the role of fermionic statistics on the dynamics of the collective motion. The transport coefficients are discussed as well as the associated fluctuation-dissipation relation. Due to different nature of the particles, the path to equilibrium is slightly affected. However, in the weak-coupling regime, the time scale for approaching equilibrium is found to be globally unchanged. The Pauli-blocking effect can modify the usual picture in open quantum system. In some limits, contrary to boson, this effect can strongly hinder the influence of the bath by blocking the interacting channels.

Non-Markovian dynamics of mixed fermionic-bosonic systems: Rotating-wave-approximation coupling

Employing quadratic fermionic and bosonic Hamiltonians for collective and internal subsystems with a linear rotating-wave-approximation coupling, we studied the role of heat-bath statistics on the dynamics of the collective motion. The master equations for the collective occupation number derived directly from the quadratic Hamiltonians and within the Non-Markovian Langevin approach are discussed and their solutions are obtained. Because of the different nature of the heat-bath statistics, the path to equilibrium or the relaxation time is affected as shown in the numerical calculations.

Non-Markovian dynamics of fully coupled fermionic and bosonic oscillators

Vazgen Valerikovich Sargsyan, Denis Lacroix A, G. G. Adamian +1 more

The non-Markovian Langevin approach is applied to study the dynamics of fermionic (bosonic) oscillator linearly coupled to a fermionic (bosonic) environment. The analytical expressions for occupation numbers in two different types of couplings (rotating-wave approximation and fully coupled) are compared and discussed. The weak-coupling and high- and low-temperature limits are considered as well. The conditions under which the environment imposes its thermal equilibrium on the collective subsystem are discussed. The sameness of the results, obtained with both the Langevin approach and the discretized environment method are shown. Short- and long-time nonequilibrium dynamics of fermionic and bosonic open quantum systems are analyzed both analytically and numerically.

Nonequilibrium quantum transport coefficients and transient dynamics of full counting statistics in the strong-coupling and non-Markovian regimes

Javier Cerrillo, Maximilian Buser, Tobias Brandes

Nonequilibrium transport properties of quantum systems have recently become experimentally accessible in a number of platforms in so-called full-counting experiments that measure transient and steady-state nonequilibrium transport dynamics. We show that the effect of the measurement back-action can be exploited to establish general relationships between transport coefficients in the transient regime which take the form of fluctuation-dissipation theorems in the steady state. This result becomes most conspicuous in the transient dynamics of open quantum systems under strong-coupling to non-Markovian environments in nonequilibrium settings. In order to explore this regime, a new simulation method based in a hierarchy of equations of motion has been developed. We instantiate our proposal with the study of energetic conductance between two baths connected via a few level system.

Non-Markovian modeling of Fermi-Bose systems coupled to one or several Fermi-Bose thermal baths

Denis Lacroix A, Vazgen Valerikovich Sargsyan, G. G. Adamian +2 more

A method is proposed to describe Fermi or Bose systems coupled to one or several heat baths composed of fermions and/or bosons. The method, called the coupled equations of motion method, properly includes non-Markovian effects. The approach is exact in the full-coupling approximation when only bosonic particles are present in the system and baths. The approach provides an approximate treatment when fermions are present either in the system and/or in one or several environments. Our approach has the advantage of properly respecting the Pauli exclusion principle for fermions during the evolution. We illustrate the approach for the single fermionic or bosonic oscillator coupled to one or two heat baths assuming different types of quantum statistics (fermion or boson) for them. The cases of a Fermi system coupled to fermion or boson heat baths or a mixture of both are analyzed in detail. With the future goal of treating Fermi systems formed of an increasing number of two-level systems (qubits), we discuss possible simplifications that could be made in the equations of motion and their limits of validity in terms of the system-bath coupling or of the initial heat bath temperatures.

Non-Markovian dynamics of fermionic and bosonic systems coupled to several heat baths

A. A. Hovhannisyan, Vazgen Valerikovich Sargsyan, G. G. Adamian +2 more

Employing the fermionic and bosonic Hamiltonians for the collective oscillator linearly FC-coupled with several heat baths, the analytical expressions for the collective occupation number are derived within the non-Markovian quantum Langevin approach. The master equations for the occupation number of collective subsystem are derived and discussed. In the case of Ohmic dissipation with Lorenzian cutoffs, the possibility of reduction of the system with several heat baths to the system with one heat bath is analytically demonstrated. For the fermionic and bosonic systems, a comparative analysis is performed between the collective subsystem coupled to two heat baths and the reference case of the subsystem coupled to one bath.

Exact quantum transport in non-Markovian open Gaussian systems

Guglielmo Pellitteri, Vittorio Giovannetti, Vasco Cavina

We build an exact framework to evaluate heat, energy, and particle transport between Gaussian reservoirs mediated by a quadratic quantum system. By combining full counting statistics with newly developed non-Markovian master equation approaches, we introduce an effective master equation whose solution can be used to generate arbitrary moments of the heat statistics for any number of reservoirs. This theory applies equally to fermionic and bosonic systems, holds at arbitrarily strong coupling, and resolves out-of-equilibrium transient dynamics determined by the system's initial state. In the steady-state, weak-coupling limit, we recover results analogous to those of the well-known Landauer-Büttiker formalism. We conclude our discussion by demonstrating an application of the method to a prototypical fermionic system. Our results uncover a regime of transient negative heat conductance contingent upon the initial system preparation, providing a clear signature of non-trivial out-of-equilibrium dynamics.
