Using the Grothendieck approach to the tensor product of locally convex spaces, we review a characterization of positive maps as well as Belavkin-Ohya characterization of PPT states. Moreover, within this scheme, a generalization of the idea of Choi matrices for genuine quantum systems will be presented.
We look for all linear isomorphisms from the mapping spaces onto the tensor products of matrices which send k-superpositive maps onto unnormalized bi-partite states of Schmidt numbers less than or equal to k. They also send k-positive maps onto k-block-positive matrices. We also look for all the bilinear pairings between the mapping spaces and tensor products of matrices which retain the usual duality between k-positivity and Schmidt numbers ≤k. They also retain the duality between k-superpositivity and k-block-positivity.
Several investigations have been done on positive maps on their algebraic structures with more emphasis on completely positive maps. In this study, we have described the structure of the Choi matrices for 2-positive maps on positive semidefinite matrices and the conditions for complete positivity of positive linear maps from n to n+1. The motivation behind these objectives is work done by Majewski and Marciniak on the structure of positive maps ф from Mn to Mn + 1(2 ≥ 2) between matrix algebras.
This paper investigates the properties of Choi polynomials and their fundamental role in the theory of positive linear maps between matrix algebras. By focusing on Hermitian symmetric biquadratic forms, we establish a connection between the positivity of these forms and the structure of positive maps. We specifically explore the construction of indecomposable positive maps in matrix algebras, and their application as entanglement witnesses. Our analysis extends to the detection of Positive Partial Transpose (PPT) entangled states and the classification of edge PPT states in Mm(C)⊗Mn(C). Our results provide a refined framework for identifying non-separable states that escape the standard PPT criterion, contributing to the broader understanding of entanglement distillation and quantum information theory.
A natural and intrinsic characterization of the structure of the set C of positive unital maps is given, i.e. it is shown that C is isometrically isomorphic to the subset $\gD$ of bp-positive density matrices endowed with the geometry given by the norm α dual to the Grothendieck projective norm π, the structure of $\gD$ is determined by the set of its exposed points, and finally a characterization of exposed points of $\gD$ in terms of convex analysis is presented. This seems to be an answer to an old open problem, characterization of the structure of the set of positive maps, studied both in Quantum Information and Operator Algebras. Our arguments are based on the concept of exposed points and links between tensor products and mapping spaces. It should be emphasized that the concept of exposed point depends strongly on the geometry, hence the role of the norm α is crucial.
A linear map between matrix algebras corresponds to the Choi matrix in the tensor product of two matrix algebras whose definition depends on matrix units. Paulsen and Shultz [J. Math. Phys. 54, 072201 (2013)] considered the question if one can replace matrix units by another basis of matrix algebras in the definition of the Choi matrix to retain the correspondence between the complete positivity of maps and the positivity of Choi matrices and gave a sufficient condition on basis under which this is true. In this note, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions to see that the Paulsen–Shultz condition is also necessary.
This paper and the results therein are geared toward building a basic toolbox for calculations in quantum information theory of quasifree fermionic systems. Various entropy and relative entropy measures are discussed. The main emphasis is on completely positive quasifree maps. The set of quasifree affine maps on the state space is determined and fully characterized in terms of operations on one-particle subspaces. For a subclass of trace-preserving completely positive maps and for their duals, Choi matrices and Jamiolkowski states are discussed.
