Approach of the Generating Functions to the Coherent States for Some Quantum Solvable Models

Abstract

We introduce to this paper new kinds of coherent states for some quantum solvable models: a free particle on a sphere, one-dimensional Calogero-Sutherland model, the motion of spinless electrons subjected to a perpendicular magnetic field B, respectively, in two dimensional flat surface and an infinite flat band. We explain how these states come directly from the generating functions of the certain families of classical orthogonal polynomials without the complexity of the algebraic approaches. We have shown that some examples become consistent with the Klauder- Perelomove and the Barut-Girardello coherent states. It can be extended to the non-classical, q-orthogonal and the exceptional orthogonal polynomials, too. Especially for physical systems that they don't have a specific algebraic structure or involved with the shape invariance symmetries, too.

Approach of the associated Laguerre functions to the su(1,1) coherent states for some quantum solvable models

Hossein Fakhri, Alireza Dehghani, B. Mojaveri

Abstract Using second‐order differential operators as a realization of the su(1,1) Lie algebra by the associated Laguerre functions, it is shown that the quantum states of the Calogero‐Sutherland, half‐oscillator and radial part of a 3D harmonic oscillator constitute the unitary representations for the same algebra. This su(1,1) Lie algebra symmetry leads to derivation of the Barut‐Girardello and Klauder‐Perelomov coherent states for those models. The explicit compact forms of these coherent states are calculated. Also, to realize the resolution of the identity, their corresponding positive definite measures on the complex plane are obtained in terms of the known functions. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Generalized coherent states for classical orthogonal polynomials

Вадим Васильевич Борзов

For oscillator-like systems, connected with the Laguerre, Legendre and Chebyshev polynomials, coherent states of Glauber-Barut-Girardello type are defined. The suggested construction can be applied to each system of orthogonal polynomials including classical ones as well as deformed ones.

Some physical appearances of vector coherent states and coherent states related to degenerate Hamiltonians

S. Twareque Ali, Fabio Bagarello

In the spirit of some earlier work on the construction of vector coherent states (VCS) over matrix domains, we compute here such states associated to some physical Hamiltonians. In particular, we construct vector coherent states of the Gazeau–Klauder type. As a related problem, we also suggest a way to handle degeneracies in the Hamiltonian for building coherent states. Specific physical Hamiltonians studied include a single photon mode interacting with a pair of fermions, a Hamiltonian involving a single boson and a single fermion, a charged particle in a three-dimensional harmonic force field and the case of a two-dimensional electron placed in a constant magnetic field, orthogonal to the plane which contains the electron. In this last example, which is related to the fractional quantum Hall effect, an interesting modular structure emerges for two underlying von Neumann algebras, related to opposite directions of the magnetic field. This leads to the existence of coherent states built out of Kubo-Martin-Schwinger (KMS) states for the system.

Bosonic andk-fermionic coherent states for a class of polynomial Weyl–Heisenberg algebras

Mohammed Daoud A, M. Kibler

The aim of this paper is to construct coherent states à la Perelomov and à la Barut–Girardello for a polynomial Weyl–Heisenberg algebra. This generalized Weyl–Heisenberg algebra, denoted by , depends on r real parameters and is an extension of the one-parameter algebra (Daoud and Kibler 2010 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 43 115303) which covers the cases of the su (1, 1) algebra (for κ > 0), the su (2) algebra (for κ < 0) and the h 4 ordinary Weyl–Heisenberg algebra (for κ = 0). For finite-dimensional representations of and , where is a truncation of order s of in the sense of Pegg–Barnett, a connection is established with k -fermionic algebras (or quon algebras). This connection makes it possible to use generalized Grassmann variables for constructing certain coherent states. Coherent states of the Perelomov type are derived for infinite-dimensional representations of and for finite-dimensional representations of and through a Fock–Bargmann analytical approach based on the use of complex (or bosonic) variables. The same approach is applied for deriving coherent states of the Barut–Girardello type in the case of infinite-dimensional representations of . In contrast, the construction of coherent states à la Barut–Girardello for finite-dimensional representations of and can be achieved solely at the price of replacing complex variables by generalized Grassmann (or k -fermionic) variables. Some of the results are applied to su (2), su (1, 1) and the harmonic oscillator (in a truncated or not truncated form). This article is part of a special issue of Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical devoted to 'Coherent states: mathematical and physical aspects'.

Unified algebraic approach to few- and many-body correlated systems

Nakka Gurappa, Prasanta Kumar Panigrahi

The present paper is an extended version of another paper [Phys. Rev. B 59, R2490 (1999)], where we have established the equivalence of the Calogero-Sutherland model to decoupled oscillators. Here, we first employ the same approach for finding the eigenstates of a large class of Hamiltonians, dealing with correlated systems. A number of few- and many-body interacting models are studied and the relationship between their respective Hilbert spaces, with that of oscillators, is found. This connection is then used to obtain the spectrum generating algebras for these systems and make an algebraic statement about correlated systems. The procedure to generate solvable interacting models is outlined. We then point out the inadequacies of the present technique and make use of a method for solving linear differential equations to diagonalize the Sutherland model and establish a precise connection between this correlated system's wave functions, with those of the free particles on a circle. In the process, we obtain an expression for the Jack polynomials. In two dimensions, we analyze the Hamiltonian having Laughlin wave function as the ground state and point out the natural emergence of the underlying linear ${W}_{1+\ensuremath{\infty}}$ symmetry in this approach.

Quantum many-body systems exactly solved by special functions

Martin A. Hallnäs

This thesis concerns two types of quantum many-body systems in one dimension exactly solved by special functions: firstly, systems with interactions localised at points and solved by the (coordinate) Bethe ansatz; secondly, systems of Calogero-Sutherland type, as well as certain recently introduced deformations thereof, with eigenfunctions given by natural many-variable generalisations of classical (orthogonal) polynomials. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first provides background and a few complementary results, while the second presents the main results of this thesis in five appended scientific papers. In the first paper we consider two complementary quantum many-body systems with local interactions related to the root systems CN, one with delta-interactions, and the other with certain momentum dependent interactions commonly known as delta-prime interactions. We prove, by construction, that the former is exactly solvable by the Bethe ansatz in the general case of distinguishable particles, and that the latter is similarly solvable only in the case of bosons or fermions. We also establish a simple strong/weak coupling duality between the two models and elaborate on their physical interpretations. In the second paper we consider a well-known four-parameter family of local interactions in one dimension. In particular, we determine all such interactions leading to a quantum many-body system of distinguishable particles exactly solvable by the Bethe ansatz. We find that there are two families of such systems: the first is described by a one-parameter deformation of the delta-interaction model, while the second features a particular one-parameter combination of the delta and the delta-prime interactions. In papers 3-5 we construct and study particular series representations for the eigenfunctions of a family of Calogero-Sutherland models naturally associated with the classical (orthogonal) polynomials. In our construction, the eigenfunctions are given by linear combinations of certain symmetric polynomials generalising the so-called Schur polynomials, with explicit and rather simple coefficients. In paper 5 we also generalise certain of these results to the so-called deformed Calogero-Sutherland operators.
