Analytical characterization of the genuine multiparticle negativity

Abstract

The genuine multiparticle negativity is a measure of genuine multiparticle entanglement which can be numerically calculated. We present several results of how this entanglement measure can be characterized in an analytical way. First, we show that with an appropriate normalization this measure can be seen as coming from a mixed convex roof construction. Based on this, we determine its value for n -qubit GHZ-diagonal states and four-qubit cluster-diagonal states.

Characterizing quantum correlations: the genuine multiparticle negativity as entanglement monotone

Martin Hofmann

Multiparticle entanglement is a useful resource in quantum information processing. It is involved in some quantum key distribution protocols, quantum metrology and many other physical applications and phenomena and can be experimentally observed in various quantum systems. Having said this, its classification, detection and especially its quantification is quite challenging. To this day there exists no general mixed state measure for genuine multiparticle entanglement, which can be computed and analytically treated at the same time.\n\nIn this thesis the analytical characterisation of genuine multiparticle entanglement in quantum systems using the computable genuine multiparticle negativity as entanglement measure is provided. Furthermore, the notion of stabiliser states, which are families of symmetric genuine multiparticle entangled states, is generalised and a useful method to exploit local symmetries to speed up the computation of the investigated entanglement measure is provided.

Taming Multiparticle Entanglement

Bastian Jungnitsch, Tobias Moroder, Otfried Gühne

We present an approach to characterize genuine multiparticle entanglement by using appropriate approximations in the space of quantum states. This leads to a criterion for entanglement which can easily be calculated by using semidefinite programing and improves all existing approaches significantly. Experimentally, it can also be evaluated when only some observables are measured. Furthermore, it results in a computable entanglement monotone for genuine multiparticle entanglement. Based on this, we develop an analytical approach for the entanglement detection in cluster states, leading to an exponential improvement compared with existing schemes.

Multiparticle entanglement in graph-diagonal states: Necessary and sufficient conditions for four qubits

The characterization of genuine multiparticle entanglement is important for entanglement theory as well as experimental studies related to quantum-information theory. Here, we completely characterize genuine multiparticle entanglement for four-qubit states diagonal in the cluster-state basis. In addition, we give a complete characterization of multiparticle entanglement for all five-qubit graph states mixed with white noise, for states diagonal in the basis corresponding to the five-qubit $\mathsf{Y}$-shaped graph, and for a family of graph states with an arbitrary number of qubits.

Genuine Measure of Multipartite Entanglement and its Monogamy Relation.

Yu Jing Guo, Lin Zhang

Although many different entanglement measures have been proposed so far, much less is known in the multipartite case, which leads to the previous monogamy relations in literatures are not complete. We establish here a strict framework for defining multipartite entanglement measure (MEM): apart from the postulates of bipartite measure [i.e., vanishing on separable and nonincreasing under local operations and classical communication (LOCC)], a genuine MEM should additionally satisfy the \textit{unification condition} and the \textit{hierarchy condition}. We then come up with a \textit{complete monogamy formula} under the unified MEM (an MEM is called a unified MEM if it satisfies the unification condition). Consequently, we propose MEMs which are multipartite extensions of entanglement of formation (EoF), concurrence, tangle, the convex-roof extension of negativity and negativity, respectively. We show that multipartite extensions of the bipartite measures that are defined by the convex-roof structure are completely monogamous, the extensions of EoF, concurrence and tangle are genuine MEMs (an MEM is called a genuine MEM if it satisfies both the unification condition and the hierarchy condition), and multipartite extensions of both negativity and the convex-roof extension of negativity are unified MEMs but not genuine MEMs.

Accessible quantification of multiparticle entanglement

Marco Cianciaruso, Thomas R. Bromley, Gerardo Adesso

Abstract Entanglement is a key ingredient for quantum technologies and a fundamental signature of quantumness in a broad range of phenomena encompassing many-body physics, thermodynamics, cosmology and life sciences. For arbitrary multiparticle systems, entanglement quantification typically involves nontrivial optimisation problems, and it may require demanding tomographical techniques. Here, we develop an experimentally feasible approach to the evaluation of geometric measures of multiparticle entanglement. Our framework provides analytical results for particular classes of mixed states of N qubits, and computable lower bounds to global, partial, or genuine multiparticle entanglement of any general state. For global and partial entanglement, useful bounds are obtained with minimum effort, requiring local measurements in just three settings for any N. For genuine entanglement, a number of measurements scaling linearly with N are required. We demonstrate the power of our approach to estimate and quantify different types of multiparticle entanglement in a variety of N-qubit states useful for quantum information processing and recently engineered in laboratories with quantum optics and trapped ion setups.

Construction of genuinely entangled subspaces and the associated bounds on entanglement measures for mixed states

K. V. Antipin

Abstract Genuine entanglement is the strongest form of multipartite entanglement. Genuinely entangled pure states contain entanglement in every bipartition and as such can be regarded as a valuable resource in the protocols of quantum information processing. A recent direction of research is the construction of genuinely entangled subspaces (GESs)—the class of subspaces consisting entirely of genuinely entangled pure states. In this paper we present methods of construction of such subspaces including those of maximal possible dimension. The approach is based on the composition of bipartite entangled subspaces and quantum channels of certain types. The examples include maximal subspaces for systems of three qubits, four qubits, three qutrits. We also provide lower bounds on two entanglement measures for mixed states, the concurrence and the convex-roof extended negativity, which are directly connected with the projection on GESs.
