Abstract

We study quantum dynamics of a kicked relativistic spin-half particle in a one dimensional box. Time-dependence of the average kinetic energy and evolution of the wave packet are explored. Kicking potential is introduced as the Lorentz-scalar, i.e., through the mass-term in the Dirac equation. It is found that depending on the values of the kicking parameters E(t) can be periodic, monotonically growing and non-periodic function of time. Particle transport in the system is studied by considering spatio-temporal evolution of the Gaussian wave packet.Splitting of the packet into two symmetric parts and restoration of the profile of the packet is found.

We study kicked particle dynamics in a rectangular quantum billiard.The kicking potential is chosen as localized at the center of the billiard.The exact solution for the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for a single kicking period is derived.Using this solution, the time-dependence of the average kinetic energy and probability density as a function of spatial coordinates are computed.Different regimes for trapping of the particle in kicking area are analyzed.It is found that depending of the values of kicking parameters, the average kinetic energy can be a periodic or a monotonically growing function of time or can be suppressed.Such behavior is explained in terms of particle trapping regimes.Wave packet dynamics are also studied.

Quantum dynamics of a parity-time-symmetric kicked particle in a 1D box

J Yusupov, S. Rakhmanov, D Matrasulov +1 more

Abstract We study quantum particle dynamics in a box and driven by a parity-time (PT)-symmetric, delta-kicking complex potential. The dynamical characteristics, identified by the average kinetic energy as a function of time, and quasi-energy are computed for different values of the kicking parameters. Breaking of the PT-symmetry at certain values of the non-Hermitian kicking parameter is shown. Experimental realization of the model is also discussed.

Time Evolution of Gaussian Wave Packets under Dirac Equation with Fluctuating Mass and Potential

Atis Yosprakob, Sujin Suwanna

Localization of relativistic particles have been of great research interests over many decades. We investigate the time evolution of the Gaussian wave packets governed by the one dimensional Dirac equation. For the free Dirac equation, we obtain the evolution profiles analytically in many approximation regimes, and numerical simulations consistent with other numerical schemes. Interesting behaviors such as Zitterbewegung and Klein paradox are exhibited. In particular, the dispersion rate as a function of mass is calculated, and it yields an interesting result that super-massive and massless particles both exhibit no dispersion in free space. For the Dirac equation with random potential or mass, we employ the Chebyshev polynomials expansion of the propagator operator to numerically investigate the probability profiles of the displacement distribution when the potential or mass is uniformly distributed. We observe that the widths of the Gaussian wave packets decrease approximately with the power law of order $o(s^{-ν})$ with $\frac{1}{2}

Space-time evolution of Dirac wave packets

V. Ya. Demikhovskiǐ, Galina M. Maksimova, А. А. Перов +1 more

In this work we study the dynamics of free three-dimensional relativistic Gaussian wave packets with different spin polarizations. We analyze the connection between the symmetry of initial state and the dynamical characteristics of moving particle. The corresponding solutions of the Dirac equation having different types of symmetry were evaluated analytically and numerically and after that the electron probability densities, as well as the spin densities were visualized. The average values of velocity of the packet center and the average spin were calculated analytically, and the parameters of transient Zitterbewegung in different directions were obtained. These results can be useful for the interpretation of future experiments with trapped ions.

Relativistic kicked rotor

D. U. Matrasulov, G. M. Milibaeva, Uktam Salomov +1 more

Transport properties in the relativistic analog of the periodically kicked rotor are contrasted under classically and quantum mechanical dynamics. The quantum rotor is treated by solving the Dirac equation in the presence of the time-periodic delta-function potential resulting in a relativistic quantum mapping describing the evolution of the wave function. The transition from the quantum suppression behavior seen in the nonrelativistic limit to agreement between quantum and classical analyses in the relativistic regime is discussed. The absence of quantum resonances in the relativistic case is also addressed.
