Abstract

We study, in the framework of open quantum systems, the entanglement generation between two mutually independent static two-level atoms in de Sitter spacetime. We treat the two-atom system as an open system in interaction with a bath of fluctuating conformally coupled massless scalar fields in the de Sitter invariant vacuum and derive the master equation that governs its evolution. With the help of the partial transposition criterion, we analyze entanglement generation between the two initially separable atoms and find that static atoms in de Sitter spacetime exhibit distinct characteristics from those in a thermal bath in flat spacetime in terms of entanglement generation. So, in principle, one can tell whether he is in a thermal bath or in de Sitter space by checking the entanglement creation between two initially separable static atoms in certain circumstances.

Radiative process of two entanglement atoms in de Sitter spacetime

Xiaobao Liu, Zehua Tian, Jieci Wang +1 more

We investigate the radiative processes of a quantum system composed by two identical two-level atoms in the de Sitter spacetime, interacting with a conformally coupled massless scalar field prepared in the de Sitter-invariant vacuum. We discuss the structure of the rate of variations of the atomic energy for two static atoms. Following a procedure developed by Dalibard, Dupont-Roc, and Cohen-Tannoudji, our intention is to identify in a quantitative way the contributions of vacuum fluctuations and the radiation reaction to the generation of quantum entanglement and to the degradation of entangled states. We find that when the distance between two atoms larger than the characteristic length scale, the rate of variation of atomic energy in the de Sitter-invariant vacuum behaves differently compared with that in the thermal Minkowski spacetime. In particular, the generation and degradation of quantum entanglement can be enhanced or inhibited, which are dependent not only on the specific entangled state but also on the distance between the atoms.

Open quantum entanglement: a study of two atomic system in static patch of de Sitter space

Samim Akhtar, Sayantan Choudhury, Satyaki Chowdhury +3 more

Abstract In this work, our prime objective is to study non-locality and long range effect of two body correlation using quantum entanglement from various information theoretic measure in the static patch of de Sitter space using a two body Open Quantum System (OQS). The OQS is described by a system of two entangled atoms, surrounded by a thermal bath, which is modelled by a massless probe scalar field. Firstly, we partially trace over the bath field and construct the Gorini Kossakowski Sudarshan Lindblad (GSKL) master equation, which describes the time evolution of the reduced subsystem density matrix. This GSKL master equation is characterized by two components, these are-Spin chain interaction Hamiltonian and the Lindbladian. To fix the form of both of them, we compute the Wightman functions for probe massless scalar field. Using this result alongwith the large time equilibrium behaviour we obtain the analytical solution for reduced density matrix. Further using this solution we evaluate various entanglement measures, namely Von-Neumann entropy, R $$e'$$ e′ nyi entropy, logarithmic negativity, entanglement of formation, concurrence and quantum discord for the two atomic subsystem on the static patch of De-Sitter space. Finally, we have studied violation of Bell-CHSH inequality, which is the key ingredient to study non-locality in primordial cosmology.

Dynamics of Quantum Correlation in de Sitter Spacetime

Zhiming Huang, Zehua Tian

In this article, we investigate the dynamics of quantum correlation for two atoms interacting with massless scalar field in the background of de Sitter spacetime. We firstly derive the solving process of master equation that governs the system evolution with initial Werner state. Then we discuss the production, revival and decay of quantum correlation for three cases of different initial states: zero-correlation state, non zero-correlation separable state and maximally entangled state. We find that quantum correlation degrades as temperature and the two-atom distance increase. Compared with the sudden death and birth of entanglement, quantum correlation change more smoothly and thus is more robust to decoherence, which can remain stable for long time when two atoms are very close.

Quantum entanglement of two bosonic modes in de Sitter space

Madalin Calamanciuc, Аурелиан Исар

Abstract The time evolution of Gaussian quantum entanglement of two bosonic modes associated with a scalar quantum field in de Sitter space and in interaction with a thermal reservoir is investigated in the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups. We show that quantum entanglement strongly depends on the squeezing of the bimodal state, the parameters characterizing the thermal environment, the curvature parameter of de Sitter space, and the mass parameter. The thermal environment and the curvature have a destructive influence on the entanglement, whose survival time depends on the competition between the contrary effects provided by the squeezing of the bimodal state, the curvature, and the thermal bath. The entanglement is minimized for values 1/2 and 3/2 of the mass parameter, corresponding to the conformally coupled scalar field, respectively, minimally coupled massless field.

Entanglement dynamics for uniformly accelerated two-level atoms

Jiawei Hu, Hongwei Yu

We study, in the paradigm of open quantum systems, the entanglement dynamics of two uniformly accelerated atoms with the same acceleration perpendicular to the separation. The two-atom system is treated as an open system coupled with a bath of fluctuating massless scalar fields in the Minkowski vacuum, and the master equation that governs its evolution is derived. It has been found that, for accelerated atoms with a nonvanishing separation, entanglement sudden death is a general feature when the initial state is entangled, while for those in a separable initial state, entanglement sudden birth only happens for atoms with an appropriate interatomic separation and sufficiently small acceleration. Remarkably, accelerated atoms can get entangled in certain circumstances while the inertial ones in the Minkowski vacuum cannot. A comparison between the results of accelerated atoms and those of static ones in a thermal bath shows that uniformly accelerated atoms exhibit features distinct from those immersed in a thermal bath at the Unruh temperature in terms of entanglement dynamics.
