Abstract

We propose a feasible and efficient scheme to generate N-atom W-class states in spatially separated cavities without using any classical driving pulses. We adopt the model in which the couplings between different atoms are mediated only by virtual excitations of the cavity and fiber fields, so the scheme is insensitive to the cavity decay and fiber photon leakage. We carry out both theoretical investigation in a decoherence-free subspace and numerical calculation accounting for decoherence due to the atomic spontaneous emission as well as the decay of cavity and fiber modes. The theoretical and numerical results agree in the large atom-cavity detuning regime. Our scheme proves to be useful in scalable distributed quantum networks.

Dispersive atom-field interaction scheme for three-dimensional entanglement between two spatially separated atoms

Xin‐You Lü, Jibing Liu, Chunling Ding +1 more

We propose a scheme for deterministically generating three-dimensional (3D) entanglement between two distant five-level atoms based on the dispersive atom-field interaction. In our scheme, the two atoms are trapped separately in two spatially separated optical cavities coupled by an optical fiber. To check the experimental feasibility of our scheme, we numerically simulated effects of the atomic spontaneous decay and photon leakage out of the fiber, and the numerical simulation shows that those effects can be suppressed by appropriately choosing the frequency detuning of atom-field and the coupling intensity of cavity fiber, respectively. We also discussed the influence of photon leakage out of the cavities, and the strictly numerical simulation shows our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of 3D entanglement with high fidelity and within the current experimental technology.

Shortcuts to adiabatic passage for the generation of maximally entangle states in a distributed atom-cavity system

Mei Lu, Chun‐Ling Zhang, Bin Zhang +1 more

Abstract We propose an efficient scheme to generate maximally entangled states between two three-level atoms in multi-cavity systems via shortcuts to the adiabatic technique. Two atoms are trapped in spatially separated cavities which are linked through direct coupling and optical fiber coupling, respectively. Time-dependent lasers which are tactfully designed radiate the atoms to drive the evolution rapidly. A determinate analysis solution for this distributed maximally entangled state is achieved by controlling the detuning between the cavity mode and laser fields. Numerical simulations show that the shortcut scheme permits the decoherence which arises from the noisy environment and spontaneous emission to some extent. Meanwhile, the scheme tolerates the imprecision of the experimental parameters, such as evolution time, laser parameters and so on. Our research provided a fast, analytical and feasible technology in non-locality quantum entanglement preparation in quantum electronic dynamics.

Implementing ancilla-free phase covariant quantum cloning with atoms trapped in cavities

Li Ai

We propose a scheme to implement ancilla-free 1 to 2 optimal phase covariant quantum cloning with atoms trapped in cavities. In the scheme the W-class state of three atoms, which are individually trapped in three spatially separated cavities,is deterministically generated. Then by the use of this W-class state and detection of the atomic state,an optimal ancilla-free 1 to 2 phase-covariant quantum cloning between two spatially separated trapped atoms can be realized. The scheme is robust for atomic spontaneous decay, cavity decay and photon leakage out of the fiber. In principle,an M+1-atom W-class state can be generated by using such an approach. Thus this scheme also can be generalized to implement 1 to M ancilla-free phase-covariant quantum cloning.

Cavity loss induced generation of W states

Huai‐Zhi Wu, Zhen‐Biao Yang, Wan-Jun Su +2 more

The existence of decoherence-free subspace (DFS) has been discussed widely. In this paper, we propose an alternative scheme for generating the four-atom W states by manipulating DF qubits. The atoms are divided into two pairs and trapped in two separate optical cavities. Manipulation of atoms within DFS may generate a two-atom maximally entangled state in an individual cavity, which is a stable state. After driving the system out of DFS, the atoms will interact resonantly with the cavity field. The photons leaking from the cavities interfere at the beamsplitter, which destroys which-path information, and are finally detected by one of the detectors, leading to the generation of a W state. In addition, the numerical simulation indicates that the fidelity of the prepared state can, for a very wide parameter regime, be very close to unity.

Engineering multipartite steady entanglement of distant atoms via dissipation

Zhao Jin, Shi‐Lei Su, Ai‐Dong Zhu +2 more

We propose a scheme for generating an entangled state for three atoms trapped in separate optical cavities that are coupled to each other through two optical fibers based on coherent driving and dissipation, which are induced by the classical fields and the decay of non-local bosonic modes, respectively. In our scheme, the interaction time need not be controlled strictly in the overall dynamics process, and the cavity field decay can be changed into a vital resource. The numerical simulation shows that the fidelity of the target state is insensitive to atomic spontaneous emission, and our scheme is good enough to generate the W state of distant atoms with a high fidelity and purity. In addition, the present scheme can also be generalized to prepare the N -partite W state of distant atoms.

Virtual-photon-induced quantum phase gates for two distant atoms trapped in separate cavities

Shi-Biao Zheng

We propose a scheme for implementing quantum gates for two atoms trapped in distant cavities connected by an optical fiber. The effective long-distance coupling between the two distributed qubits is achieved without excitation and transportation of photons through the optical fiber. Since the cavity modes and fiber mode are never populated and the atoms undergo no transitions, the gate operation is insensitive to the decoherence effect when the thermal photons in the environment are negligible. The scheme opens promising perspectives for networking quantum information processors and implementing distributed and scalable quantum computation.
