Abstract

When the nonlinearity of nanomechanical resonator is not negligible, the quantum decoherence of charge qubit is studied analytically. Using nonlinear Jaynes—Cummings model, one explores the possibility of being quantum data bus for nonlinear nanomechanical resonator, the nonlinearity destroys the dynamical quantum information-storage and maintains the revival of quantum coherence of charge qubit. With the calculation of decoherence factor, we demonstrate the influence of the nonlinearity of nanomechanical resonator on engineered decoherence of charge qubit.

Temporal Behavior of Rabi Oscillation in Nanomechanical QED System with a Nonlinear Resonator

Abstract In nanomechanical QED system, consisting of a charge qubit and a nanomechanical resonator with intrinsic nonlinearity, we study the temporal behavior of Rabi oscillation in the nonlinear Jaynes–Cummings model. Using microscopic master equation approach, we solve time evolution of the density operator describing this model. Also, the probability of excited state of charge qubit is calculated. These analytic calculations show how nonlinearity parameter and decay rates of two different excited states of the qubit-resonator system affect time-oscillating and decaying of Rabi oscillation.

Vacuum Rabi Splitting in Nanomechanical QED System with Nonlinear Resonator

MingYue Zhao, Shumin Yu, Xu Xiao +1 more

Considering the intrinsic nonlinearity in a nanomechanical resonator coupled to a charge qubit, vacuum Rabi splitting effect is studied in a nanomechanical QED (qubit-resonator) system. A driven nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model describes the dynamics of this qubit-resonator system. Using quantum regression theorem and master equation approach, we have calculated the two-time correlation spectrum analytically. In the weak driving limit, these analytical results clarify the influence of the driving strength and nonlinearity parameter on the correlation spectrum. Also, numerical calculations confirm these analytical results.

Decoherent many-body dynamics of a nano- mechanical resonator coupled to charge qubits

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty, Jonas Larson, Hichem Eleuch

The dynamics of charge qubits coupled to a nanomechanical resonator under influence of both a phonon bath in contact with the resonator and irreversible decay of the qubits is considered. The focus of our analysis is devoted to multi partite entanglement and the effects arising from the coupling to the reservoir. It is shown that despite losses, entanglement formation may still persist for relatively long times and it is especially robust against temperature dependence of the reservoir. Together with control of system parameters, the system may therefore be especially suited for quantum information processing. Furthermore, our results shed light on the evolution of open quantum many-body systems. For instance, due to intrinsic qubit-qubit couplings our model is related to a driven XY spin model.

Kerr nonlinearities and nonclassical states with superconducting qubits and nanomechanical resonators

F. L. Semião, K. Furuya, Gerard J Milburn

We propose the use of a superconducting charge qubit capacitively coupled to two resonant nanomechanical resonators to generate Yurke-Stoler states, i.e., quantum superpositions of pairs of distinguishable coherent states $180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ out of phase with each other. This is achieved by effectively implementing Kerr nonlinearities induced through the application of a strong external driving field in one of the resonators. A simple study of the effect of dissipation on our scheme is also presented and lower bounds of fidelity and purity of the generated state are calculated. Our procedure to implement a Kerr nonlinearity in this system may be used for high-precision measurements in nanomechanical resonators.

Determination of nonlinear nanomechanical resonator-qubit coupling coefficient in a hybrid quantum system

Qi Geng, Ka‐Di Zhu

We have theoretically investigated a hybrid system that is composed of a traditional optomechanical component and an additional charge qubit (Cooper pair box) that induces a new nonlinear interaction. It is shown that the peak in optomechanically induced transparency has been split by the new nonlinear interaction, and the width of the splitting is proportional to the coupling coefficient of this nonlinear interaction. This may give a way to measure the nanomechanical oscillator-qubit coupling coefficient in hybrid quantum systems.

Controllable nonlinear effects in cavity electromechanics

Eyob Alebachew Sete, Hichem Eleuch

We investigate nonlinear effects in an electromechanical system involving a superconducting charge qubit coupled to transmission line resonator and a nanomechanical oscillator, which in turn is coupled to another transmission line resonator. The nonlinearities induced by the superconducting qubit and the optomechanical coupling play an important role in generating optomechanical entanglement as well as the squeezing of the transmitted microwave field. We show that strong squeezing of the microwave field and robust optomechanical entanglement can be achieved in the presence of moderate thermal decoherence. We also discuss the effect of the coupling of the superconducting qubit to the nanomechanical oscillator on the bistability behaviour of the mean photon number.
