Non-Ideal X-Gate and Z-Gate in Semiconducting Spin Qubit Implementations

Elena Ferraro, Marco Fanciulli, Marco De Michielis

Several spin qubit architectures have been proposed, theoretically investigated and realized at least on the scale of single devices in view of quantum computation and simulation applications. We focus our study on five qubit types: quantum dot spin qubit, double quantum dot singlet-triplet qubit, double quantum dot hybrid qubit, donor qubit, quantum dot spin-donor qubit and for each one we derived a compact effective Hamiltonian. Single qubit gate fidelities when time interval error is included are compared. A realistic set of values for the error parameters of amplitude controls linked to the z and x contribution appearing in the Hamiltonian models has been used. This study provides a ranking of the gate fidelities for the different qubit architectures highlighting which one is the most robust with respect to the considered control noises.

Minimal Kitaev-transmon qubit based on double quantum dots

D. Michel Pino, Rubén Seoane Souto, Ramón Aguado

Minimal Kitaev chains composed of two semiconducting quantum dots coupled via a superconductor have emerged as a promising platform to realize and study Majorana bound states (MBSs), which appear for fine-tuned configurations. We propose a hybrid qubit based on a Josephson junction between two such double quantum dots (DQDs) embedded in a superconducting qubit geometry. The qubit makes use of the $4\ensuremath{\pi}$-Josephson effect in the Kitaev junction to create a subspace based on the even/odd fermionic parities of the two DQD arrays hosting MBSs. Deep in the transmon regime, we demonstrate that by performing circuit QED spectroscopy on such a hybrid Kitaev-transmon ``Kitmon'' qubit, one could observe distinct MBS features in perfect agreement with precise analytical predictions in terms of DQD parameters only. This agreement allows us to extract the Majorana polarization in the junction from the microwave response.

Collective Microwave Response for Multiple Gate-Defined Double Quantum Dots

Ting Chun Lin, Si‐Si Gu, Yong-Qiang Xu +9 more

We fabricate and characterize a hybrid quantum device that consists of five gate-defined double quantum dots (DQDs) and a high-impedance NbTiN transmission resonator. The controllable interactions between DQDs and the resonator are spectroscopically explored by measuring the microwave transmission through the resonator in the detuning parameter space. Utilizing the high tunability of the system parameters and the high cooperativity ( C total > 17.6) interaction between the qubit ensemble and the resonator, we tune the charge-photon coupling and observe the collective microwave response changing from linear to nonlinear. Our results present the maximum number of DQDs coupled to a resonator and manifest a potential platform for scaling up qubits and studying collective quantum effects in semiconductor–superconductor hybrid cavity quantum electrodynamics systems.
