Abstract

We consider the problem of characterizing genuine multiparticle entanglement for permutationally invariant states using the approach of positive partial transpose mixtures. We show that the evaluation of this necessary biseparability criterion scales polynomially with the number of particles. In practice, it can be evaluated easily up to ten qubits and improves existing criteria significantly. Finally, we show that our approach solves the problem of characterizing genuine multiparticle entanglement for permutationally invariant three-qubit states.

Construction of three-qubit genuine entanglement with bipartite positive partial transposes

Kil-Chan Ha, Seung-Hyeok Kye

We construct triqubit genuinely entangled states which have positive partial transposes (PPTs) with respect to the bipartition of systems. These examples disprove a conjecture [Novo, Moroder, and G\"uhne, Phys. Rev A 88, 012305 (2013)] which claims that PPT mixtures are necessary and sufficient for the biseparability of three qubits.

Permutation-invariant monotones for multipartite entanglement characterization

Xi-Jun Ren, Wei Jiang, Xingxiang Zhou +2 more

In this work we consider the permutational properties of multipartite entanglement monotones. Based on the fact that genuine multipartite entanglement is a property of the entire multiqubit system, we argue that ideal definitions for its characterizing quantities must be permutation invariant. Using this criterion, we examine the three four-qubit entanglement monotones introduced by Osterloh and Siewert [Phys. Rev. A 72, 012337 (2005)]. By expressing them in terms of quantities whose permutational properties can be easily derived, we find that one of these monotones is not permutation invariant. We propose a permutation-invariant entanglement monotone to replace it, and show that our new monotone properly measures the genuine four-qubit entanglement in four-qubit cluster-class states. Our results provide some useful insights in understanding multipartite entanglement.

Taming Multiparticle Entanglement

Bastian Jungnitsch, Tobias Moroder, Otfried Gühne

We present an approach to characterize genuine multiparticle entanglement by using appropriate approximations in the space of quantum states. This leads to a criterion for entanglement which can easily be calculated by using semidefinite programing and improves all existing approaches significantly. Experimentally, it can also be evaluated when only some observables are measured. Furthermore, it results in a computable entanglement monotone for genuine multiparticle entanglement. Based on this, we develop an analytical approach for the entanglement detection in cluster states, leading to an exponential improvement compared with existing schemes.

Separability criteria for genuine multiparticle entanglement

Otfried Gühne, Michael Seevinck

We present a method to derive separability criteria for different classes of multiparticle entanglement, especially genuine multiparticle entanglement. The resulting criteria are necessary and sufficient for certain families of states. This, for example, completely solves the problem of classifying N -qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states mixed with white noise according to their separability and entanglement properties. Further, the criteria are superior to all known entanglement criteria for many other families; also they allow the detection of bound entanglement. We next demonstrate that they are easily implementable in experiments and discuss applications to the decoherence of multiparticle entangled states.

Entanglement criteria for Dicke states

Marcel Bergmann, Otfried Gühne

Dicke states are a family of multi-qubit quantum states with interesting entanglement properties and they have been observed in many experiments. We construct entanglement witnesses for detecting genuine multiparticle entanglement in the vicinity of these states. We use the approach of positive partial transpose mixtures to derive the conditions analytically. For nearly all cases, our criteria are stronger than all conditions previously known.

Multiparticle entanglement criteria for nonsymmetric collective variances

Oliver Marty, M. Cramer, Giuseppe Vitagliano +2 more

We introduce a general scheme to detect various multiparticle entanglement structures from global non-permutationally invariant observables. In particular, we derive bounds on the variance of non-permutationally invariant and collective operators for the verification of $k$-party entanglement. For a family of observables related to the spin structure factor, we give quantitative bounds on entanglement that are independent of the total number of particles. We introduce highly non-symmetric states with genuine multipartite entanglement that is verifiable with the presented technique and discuss how they can be prepared with trapped ions exploiting the high degree of control in these systems. As a special case, our framework provides an alternative approach to obtain a tight relaxation of the entanglement criterion by Sø rensen and Mø lmer [Phys. Rev. Lett. 86, 4431 (2001)] that is free from technical assumptions and allows to calculate the bounds with an improved scaling in the detectable depth.
