Eigenvectors and scalar products for long range interacting spin chains II: the finite size effects

Abstract

Abstract In this note, we study the eigenvectors and the scalar products the integrable long-range deformation of the XXX spin chain defined in [1]. The model is solved exactly by algebraic Bethe ansatz, and it coincides in the bulk with the Inozemtsev spin chain. At the closing point it contains a defect which effectively removes the wrapping interactions. Here we concentrate on determining the defect term for the first non-trivial order in perturbation in the deformation parameter and how it affects the Bethe ansatz equations. Our study is motivated by the relation with the dilatation operator of the $ \mathcal{N} $ = 4 gauge theory in the su(2) sector.

Long-range integrable spin chains and plane-wave matrix theory

Niklas Beisert, T Klose

Quantum spin chains arise naturally from perturbative large- N field theories and matrix models. The Hamiltonian of such a model is a long-range deformation of nearest-neighbour type interactions. Here, we study the most general long-range integrable spin chain with spins transforming in the fundamental representation of . We derive the Hamiltonian and the corresponding asymptotic Bethe ansatz at the leading four perturbative orders with several free parameters. Furthermore, we propose Bethe equations for all orders and identify the moduli of the integrable system. We finally apply our results to plane-wave matrix theory and show that the Hamiltonian in a closed sector is not of this form and therefore not integrable beyond the first perturbative order. This also implies that the complete model is not integrable.

Long-Range Deformations for Integrable Spin Chains

Till Bargheer, Niklas Beisert, Florian Loebbert

We present a recursion relation for the explicit construction of integrable spin chain Hamiltonians with long-range interactions. Based on arbitrary short-range (e.g. nearest-neighbor) integrable spin chains, it allows to construct an infinite set of conserved long-range charges. We explain the moduli space of deformation parameters by different classes of generating operators. The rapidity map and dressing phase in the long-range Bethe equations are a result of these deformations. The closed chain asymptotic Bethe equations for long-range spin chains transforming under a generic symmetry algebra are derived. Notably, our construction applies to generalizations of standard nearest-neighbor chains such as alternating spin chains. We also discuss relevant properties for its application to planar D=4, N=4 and D=3, N=6 supersymmetric gauge theories. Finally, we present a map between long-range and inhomogeneous spin chains delivering more insight into the structures of these models as well as their limitations at wrapping order.

The quantum group structure of long-range integrable deformations

Koen Schouten, Marius de Leeuw

Quantum integrable spin chains are known to possess a large family of long-range deformations generated by the local, boost and bilocal operators. Although these deformations are well-understood on the level of the pairwise commuting charges, the underlying quantum group structures had not yet been recognised. In this paper, we provide a quantum group-theoretical description for the family of long-range deformations of arbitrary homogeneous Yang-Baxter integrable spin chains up to first order in the deformation parameter. In particular, we show that the deformations are obtained via a twist of the algebraic structure of the underlying quantum group. This twisting results in a generally non-associative algebra that has a non-trivial Drinfeld associator. The Drinfeld associator is then shown to encode the information about the long-range interaction terms for the integrable spin chain. Moreover, the deformed quantum group is shown to contain a large perturbatively associative substructure, thus ensuring the perturbative integrability of the long-range model. The deformed quantum group provides explicit expressions for the Lax operators and R-matrices of the long-range deformed models, which manifestly satisfy the RLL relation and the Yang-Baxter equation up to first order in the deformation parameter. In order to derive the results, we introduce algebra elements that we call the algebraic charge densities. As a side result, we provide a conjecture for the explicit expressions of the undeformed charge densities in terms of these algebra elements.

The Bethe ansatz

Fedor Levkovich-Maslyuk

Abstract We give a pedagogical introduction to the Bethe ansatz techniques in integrable QFTs and spin chains. We first discuss and motivate the general framework of asymptotic Bethe ansatz for the spectrum of integrable QFTs in large volume, based on the exact S -matrix. Then we illustrate this method in several concrete theories. The first case we study is the SU (2) chiral Gross–Neveu model. We derive the Bethe equations via algebraic Bethe ansatz, solving in the process the Heisenberg XXX spin chain. We discuss this famous spin chain model in some detail, covering in particular the coordinate Bethe ansatz, some properties of Bethe states, and the classical scaling limit leading to finite-gap equations. Then we proceed to the more involved SU (3) chiral Gross–Neveu model and derive the Bethe equations using nested algebraic Bethe ansatz to solve the arising SU (3) spin chain. Finally we show how a method similar to the Bethe ansatz works in a completely different setting, namely for the 1D oscillator in quantum mechanics.

Scalar product of twisted XXX modified Bethe vectors

S. Belliard, N A Slavnov, B Vallet

Abstract We consider closed XXX spin chains with broken total spin symmetry within the framework of the modified algebraic Bethe ansatz. We study multiple actions of the modified monodromy matrix entries on the modified Bethe vectors. The obtained formulas of the multiple actions allow us to calculate the scalar products of the modified Bethe vectors. We find an analog of Izergin–Korepin formula for the scalar products. This formula involves modified Izergin determinants and can be expressed as sums over partitions of the Bethe parameters.
