PHASE STATES AND COHERENT STATES FOR GENERALIZED WEYL-HEISENBERG ALGEBRAS

M. Kibler, Mohammed Daoud A

This paper is concerned with the construction of phase operators, phase states, vector phase states, and coherent states for a generalized Weyl-Heisenberg algebra. This polynomial algebra (that depends on real parameters) is briefly described. The various states are defined on a finite- or infinite-dimensional space depending on the parameters. This report constitutes an introduction to three papers published by the authors in J. Phys. A [43 (2010) 115303 and 45 (2012) 244036] and J. Math. Phys. [52 (2011) 082101]. Generalized graph states and mutually unbiased bases from multi-qudits phase states

O. Achkir, Mohammed Daoud A, Mostafa Mansour

The description of qudits in a formalism based on a generalized variant of Weyl–Heisenberg algebras is discussed. The unitary phase operators for a multi-qudit system and the corresponding phase states (the eigenstates of the phase operator) are constructed. We discuss the dynamics of multi-qudit phase states governed by a generalized Hamiltonian involving one- and two-body interactions which offer a remarkable connection between phase states, generalized graph states and the mutually unbiased bases. The entangled phase states are shown to possess the following properties simultaneously, namely the mutually unbiasedness of phase states resulting from the one-body generalized oscillator Hamiltonian and the entanglement properties of generalized graph states resulting from the two-body interaction Hamiltonian.

A simple realization of Weyl-Heisenberg covariant measurements

Sachin Gupta, Matthew B. Weiss

Informationally complete (IC) measurements are fundamental tools in quantum information processing, yet their physical implementation remains challenging. By the Naimark extension theorem, an IC measurement may be realized by a von Neumann measurement on an extended system after a suitable interaction. In this work, we elaborate on a simple algorithm for realizing Naimark extensions for rank-one Weyl-Heisenberg covariant informationally complete measurements in arbitrary finite dimensions. Exploiting Weyl-Heisenberg covariance, we show that the problem reduces to determining a $d \times d$ unitary from which the full $d^2 \times d^2$ unitary interaction can be constructed. The latter unitary enjoys a block-circulant structure which allows e.g., for an elegant optical implementation. We illustrate the procedure with explicit calculations for qubit, qutrit, and ququart SIC-POVMs. Finally, we show that from another point of view, this method amounts to preparing an ancilla system according to a so-called fiducial state, followed by a generalized Bell-basis measurement on the system and ancilla. These results provide a straightforward framework for implementing informationally complete measurements in the laboratory suitable for both qubit and qudit based systems.

Some aspects of a weak Weyl–Heisenberg algebra deformation

Noureddine Boucerredj, N. Mebarki, Achour Benslama

In the weak deformation (WD) approximation of the Weyl–Heisenberg algebra, the corresponding generalized coherent states and displacement operator are constructed. It is shown that those states, and contrary to the non-deformed Weyl-Heisenberg algebra, are not eigenstates of the annihilation operator. Moreover, and as an alternative to the Chaïchian et al. Q-deformed path integral approach (where Q is the deformation parameter), using the Bargmann Fock representation, we propose in the WD approximation, a general simple formalism. As an application, we calculate the propagator and the wave function of the harmonic oscillator.PACS Nos.: 03.65.Fd, 31.15.Kb
