Abstract

Geometric manipulation of a quantum system offers a method for fast, universal and robust quantum information processing. Here, we propose a scheme for universal all-geometric quantum computation using non-adiabatic quantum holonomies. We propose three different realizations of the scheme based on an unconventional use of quantum dot and single-molecule magnet devices, which offer promising scalability and robust efficiency.

Non-adiabatic Geometric Quantum Computation in a Coupled Quantum Dot System

Vahid Azimi Mousolou

Non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation, which recently attained a considerable attention, offers a promising approach for implementation of fast, universal, and robust quantum information processing. In this all-geometric approach, quantum gates are all based on non-adiabatic extensions of the geometric Berry phase effects. Apart from its fundamental and conceptual aspects, physical realizations of proposed mathematical structures play central role in the development of large-scale quantum computation. Here, we propose an experimentally feasible nano-engineered solid-state structure to realize geometric quantum computation via non-adiabatic quantum holonomies. We use a system of three coupled quantum dots containing a single electron, where two states of a double quantum-dot charge qubit interact through an intermediate quantum dot. Careful control of the inter-dot tunneling parameters makes it possible to create a geometric model system, which allows for robust and efficient quantum information processing.

Universal non-adiabatic geometric manipulation of pseudo-spin charge qubits

Vahid Azimi Mousolou

Reliable quantum information processing requires high-fidelity universal manipulation of quantum systems within the characteristic coherence times. Non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation offers a promising approach to implement fast, universal, and robust quantum logic gates particularly useful in nano-fabricated solid-state architectures, which typically have short coherence times. Here, we propose an experimentally feasible scheme to realize high-speed universal geometric quantum gates in nano-engineered pseudo-spin charge qubits. We use a system of three coupled quantum dots containing a single electron, where two computational states of a double quantum dot charge qubit interact through an intermediate quantum dot. The additional degree of freedom introduced into the qubit makes it possible to create a geometric model system, which allows robust and efficient single-qubit rotations through careful control of the inter-dot tunneling parameters. We demonstrate that a capacitive coupling between two charge qubits permits a family of non-adiabatic holonomic controlled two-qubit entangling gates, and thus provides a promising procedure to maintain entanglement in charge qubits and a pathway toward fault-tolerant universal quantum computation. We estimate the feasibility of the proposed structure by analyzing the gate fidelities to some extent.

Fast non-Abelian geometric gates via transitionless quantum driving

Jiang Zhang, Thi Ha Kyaw, D. M. Tong +2 more

A practical quantum computer must be capable of performing high fidelity quantum gates on a set of quantum bits (qubits). In the presence of noise, the realization of such gates poses daunting challenges. Geometric phases, which possess intrinsic noise-tolerant features, hold the promise for performing robust quantum computation. In particular, quantum holonomies, i.e., non-Abelian geometric phases, naturally lead to universal quantum computation due to their non-commutativity. Although quantum gates based on adiabatic holonomies have already been proposed, the slow evolution eventually compromises qubit coherence and computational power. Here, we propose a general approach to speed up an implementation of adiabatic holonomic gates by using transitionless driving techniques and show how such a universal set of fast geometric quantum gates in a superconducting circuit architecture can be obtained in an all-geometric approach. Compared with standard non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation, the holonomies obtained in our approach tends asymptotically to those of the adiabatic approach in the long run-time limit and thus might open up a new horizon for realizing a practical quantum computer.

Noncyclic nonadiabatic holonomic quantum gates via shortcuts to adiabaticity

Sai Li, Pu Shen, Tao Chen +1 more

High-fidelity quantum gates are essential for large-scale quantum computation. However, any quantum manipulation will inevitably affected by noises, systematic errors and decoherence effects, which lead to infidelity of a target quantum task. Therefore, implementing high-fidelity, robust and fast quantum gates is highly desired. Here, we propose a fast and robust scheme to construct high-fidelity holonomic quantum gates for universal quantum computation based on resonant interaction of three-level quantum systems via shortcuts to adiabaticity. In our proposal, the target Hamiltonian to induce noncyclic non-Abelian geometric phases can be inversely engineered with less evolution time and demanding experimentally, leading to high-fidelity quantum gates in a simple setup. Besides, our scheme is readily realizable in physical system currently pursued for implementation of quantum computation. Therefore, our proposal represents a promising way towards fault-tolerant geometric quantum computation.

Global Property Condition-based Non-adiabatic Geometric Quantum Control

Bao-Jie Liu, Yuansheng Wang, Man‐Hong Yung

Non-adiabatic geometric quantum computation (NGQC) and non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC) have been proposed to reduce the run time of geometric quantum gates. However, in terms of robustness against experimental control errors, the existing NGQC and NHQC scenarios have no advantage over standard dynamical gates in most cases. Here, we give the reasons of why non-adiabatic geometric gates are sensitive to the control errors, and further, we propose a new class of geometric property condition (GPC)-based non-adiabatic geometric gates, in which the global control condition can guarantee both high speed and robustness of geometric gate. To illustrate the working mechanism of GPC-based geometric gates, we give two simple examples of GPC-NGQC and GPC-NHQC for two- and three-level quantum systems, respectively. Theoretical and numerical results with the experimental parameters indicate that our scheme can significantly improve the gate performance comparing with the previous NGQC, NHQC and standard dynamical schemes. GPC-based geometric quantum computation can be applied to various physical platforms such as superconducting qubits, quantum dots, and trapped ions. All of these sufficiently show that our scheme provides a promising way towards robust geometric quantum computation.

Universal non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces with quantum dots inside a cavity

Jun Liu, Ping Dong, Jian Zhou +1 more

Abstract A scheme for implementing the non-adiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces is proposed with the interactions between a microcavity and quantum dots. A universal set of quantum gates can be constructed on the encoded logical qubits with high fidelities. The current scheme can suppress both local and collective noises, which is very important for achieving universal quantum computation. Discussions about the gate fidelities with the experimental parameters show that our schemes can be implemented in current experimental technology. Therefore, our scenario offers a method for universal and robust solid-state quantum computation.
