Mean-Field Kinetic Equations for a Laser.

Richard H. Picard

A set of kinetic equations is derived for a single-mode laser based on the assumption that the mean optical field of the laser model need not vanish. They constitute a coupled system for the field and single-atom density operators and are obtained from the quantum-Liouville equation by a generalization of the method of Bogolyubov. The equations are derived to second order in the matter-field coupling constant, assuming an asymptotic state with no matter-field correlations. (Author)

Quantum Kinetic Equations and Evolution of Many-Particle Systems

V. I. Gerasimenko

In the paper we discuss possible approaches to the problem of the rigorous derivation of quantum kinetic equations from underlying many-particle dynamics. For the description of a many-particle evolution we construct solutions of the Cauchy problems of the BBGKY hierarchy and the dual BBGKY hierarchy in suitable Banach spaces. In the framework of the conventional approach to the description of kinetic evolution the mean-field asymptotics of the quantum BBGKY hierarchy solution is constructed. We develop also alternative approaches. One method is based on the construction of the solution asymptotics of the initial-value problem of the quantum dual BBGKY hierarchy. One more approach is based on the generalized quantum kinetic equation that is a consequence of the equivalence of the Cauchy problems of such evolution equation and the BBGKY hierarchy with initial data determined by the one-particle density operator.

Quantum kinetic theory for a condensed bosonic gas

R. Walser, Jonathan H. Williams, J. Cooper +1 more

We present a kinetic theory for Bose-Einstein condensation of a weakly interacting atomic gas in a trap. Starting from first principles, we establish a Markovian kinetic description for the evolution towards equilibrium. In particular, we obtain a set of self-consistent master equations for mean fields, normal densities, and anomalous fluctuations. These kinetic equations generalize the Gross-Pitaevskii mean-field equations, and merge them consistently with a quantum-Boltzmann-equation approach.
