Fast long-range charge transfer in quantum dot arrays

Charge, spin and quantum states transfer in solid state devices is an important issue in quantum information. Adiabatic protocols, such as coherent transfer by adiabatic passage have been proposed for direct charge transfer, also denoted as long-range transfer, between the outer dots in a QD array without occupying the intermediate ones. However adiabatic protocols are prone to decoherence. With the aim of achieving direct charge transfer between the outer dots of a QD array with high fidelity, we propose a protocol to speed up the adiabatic transfer, in order to increase the fidelity of the process. Based on adiabaticity shortcuts, by properly engineering the pulses, fast adiabatic-like direct charge transfer between the outer dots can be obtained. We also discuss the impact of transfer fidelity on the operation time in the presence of dephasing. The proposed protocols for accelerating long-range charge and state transfer in a QD array offer a robust mechanism for quantum information transfer, by minimizing the decoherence and relaxation processes.

Spin Entangled State Transfer in Quantum Dot Arrays: Coherent Adiabatic and Speed‐Up Protocols

Yue Ban, Xi Chen, Sigmund Kohler +1 more

Abstract Long‐distance transfer of quantum states is an indispensable part of large‐scale quantum information processing. A novel scheme for the transfer of two‐electron entangled states from one edge of a quantum dot array to the other by coherent adiabatic passage is proposed. This protocol is mediated by pulsed tunneling barriers. In a second step, a speed up is sought for by shortcut to adiabaticity techniques. This significantly reduces the operation time and, thus, minimizes the impact of decoherence. For typical parameters of state‐of‐the‐art solid state devices, the accelerated protocol has an operation time in the nanosecond range and terminates before a major coherence loss sets in. The scheme represents a promising candidate for entanglement transfer in solid state quantum information processing.

Long-range adiabatic quantum state transfer through a tight-binding chain as a quantum data bus

Bing Chen, Wei Fan, Yan Xu +3 more

We introduce a scheme based on adiabatic passage that allows for long-range quantum communication through tight-binding chain with always-on interaction. By adiabatically varying the external gate voltage applied on the system, the electron can be transported from the sender's dot to the aim one. We numerically solve the Schr\"odinger equation for a system with a given number of quantum dots. It is shown that this scheme is a simple and efficient protocol to coherently manipulate the population transfer under suitable gate pulses. The dependence of the energy gap and the transfer time on system parameters is analyzed and shown numerically. Our method provides a guidance for future realization of adiabatic quantum state transfer in experiments.
