Defeating entanglement sudden death by a single local filtering

Abstract

Genuine multipartite entanglement of a quantum system can be partially destroyed by local decoherence. Is it possible to retrieve the entanglement to some extent by a single local operation? The answer to this question depends very much on the type of initial genuine entanglement. For initially pure $W$ and cluster states and if the decoherence is given by generalized amplitude damping, the answer is shown to be positive. In this case, the entanglement retrieving is achieved just by redistributing the remained entanglement of the system.

Enhancing entanglement of two-qubit states from amplitude damping channel using single-qubit unitary operation and local filtering operation

Xiao-Lan Zong, Wei Song, Ming Yang +1 more

We propose a scheme to enhance entanglement from amplitude damping or correlated amplitude damping decoherence. We show that entanglement sudden death time can be prolonged by the initial single-qubit operation combined with local filtering operation. For the amplitude damping channel case, we give the optimal single-qubit operation for arbitrary pure state [Formula: see text]. For the correlated amplitude damping channel case, we find that single-qubit operation on the initial state can not only enhance the final entanglement but also avoid entanglement sudden death. Compared to the previous schemes, the optimal operations and local filtering operations used in our scheme are independent with the decay parameters of the environment.

Restoring genuine tripartite entanglement under local amplitude damping

Mazhar Ali

We investigate the possibility to restore genuine tripartite entanglement under local amplitude damping. We show that it is possible to protect genuine entanglement using CNOT and Hadamard gates. We analyze several ordering of such recovery operations. We find that for recovery operations applied after exposing qubits to decoherence, there is no enhancement in lifetime of genuine entanglement. Actual retrieval of entanglement is only possible when reversal scheme is applied before and after the decoherence process. We find that retrieval of entanglement for mixture of [Formula: see text] state with white noise is more evident than the respective mixture of [Formula: see text] state. We also find the retrieval of entanglement for similar mixture of [Formula: see text] state as well.

Purification and redistribution of entanglement via single local filtering

K. O. Yashodamma, P. J. Geetha, Sudha

The effect of filtering operation with respect to purification and concentration of entanglement in quantum states are discussed in this paper. It is shown, through examples, that the local action of the filtering operator on a part of the composite quantum state allows for purification of the remaining part of the state. The redistribution of entanglement in the subsystems of a noise affected state is shown to be due to the action of local filtering on the non-decohering part of the system. The varying effects of the filtering parameter, on the entanglement transfer between the subsystems, depending on the choice of the initial quantum state is illustrated.

Purification of multipartite entanglement by local operations

Ming Yang, Fei Yan, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

Multipartite entanglement purification is revisited by using the Local operations and classical communications(LOCCs). We demonstrate our idea by considering the tripartite case, i.e. the purification of tripartite entanglement. We express the general tripartite entangled states in a special representation of total spin operators $J_{123}^{2}$ and $% J_{12}^{2}$ of tripartite system with eigenvalues 15/4 and 2 respectively. This basis is a \textit{genuine basis} because it consists of of all the genuine entangled states of tripartite system. Our protocol is a recurrence one, and only two copies of the initial mixed tripartite entangled states are needed in each round. It is shown that if the initial fidelity is larger than a threshold 0.4, the purification process will succeed. The yield of the current protocol is higher than the previous multipartite entanglement purification protocols. As a by-product, we can get a bipartite pure Bell state when the purification protocol fails for W state. Our protocol also shows that there may be some special kind of tripartite entanglement which belongs to neither W-type entanglement nor GHZ-type entanglement.

Altering the decay of quantum entanglement

A. R. P. Rau, Mazhar Ali, G. Alber

Decoherence of phases and dissipation of amplitudes can lead to loss of entanglement between two systems. In particular, an initially set-up entanglement of two qubits can end after a finite time in "sudden death". We show how local, unitary actions by the individual qubits can change this fate. In particular, the sudden death can even be averted all together.

Protecting qubit-qutrit entanglement via non-Hermitian operation

Li Ji-Xin, Shengli Chang, Yun-Hui Zhao +2 more

Abstract Entangled states with high-dimensional systems have been investigated widely because of their extended possibilities. We investigate the entanglement protection of a qubit–qutrit system under amplitude damping decoherence by employing non-Hermitian operation. We find that the qubit–qutrit entanglement decays monotonically as the decoherence strength increases, and may go through a sudden death for strong decoherence strength. However, we can completely defeat amplitude damping decoherence and recover or even magnify the initial entanglement perfectly by means of non-Hermitian operation. In particular, the non-Hermitian operation can protect entanglement more efficiently in the case of strong decoherence strength than those with small decoherence strength.
