Exact solvability of the quantum Rabi model using Bogoliubov operators

Abstract

Within extended coherent states, a recent exact solution to the quantum Rabi model (QRM) [D. Braak, Phys. Rev. Lett. 107, 100401 (2011)] can be recovered in an alternative simpler and more physical way, without use of any extra conditions. In the same framework, the two-photon QRM is solved exactly by treating extended squeezed states on an equal footing. Concise transcendental functions responsible for the exact solutions are derived. The isolated Juddian solutions are also analytically obtained in terms of degeneracy. Both the extended coherent states and squeezed states employed here are essentially Fock states in the space of the corresponding Bogoliubov operators, which result in free-particle number operators. The present approach can be summarized concisely in a unified way and easily extended to various spin-boson systems with multiple levels, even multiple modes.

Exact solution to the quantum Rabi model within Bogoliubov operators

Qing‐Hu Chen, Chen Wang, Kelin Wang

The quantum Rabi model can be solved exactly by the Bargmann transformation from real coordinate to complex variable recently [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{107}, 100401 (2011)]. By the extended coherent states, we recover this solution in an alternative simpler and perhaps more physical way without uses of any extra conditions, like Bargmann conditions. In the same framework, the two-photon Rabi model are solved exactly by extended squeeze states. Transcendental functions have been derived with the similar form as those in one-photon model. Both extended coherent states and squeeze states are essentially Fock states in the space of the corresponding Bogoliubov operators. The present approach could be easily extended to study the exact solvability or integrability of various spin-boson systems with multi-level, even multi-mode.

The mixed quantum Rabi model

Liwei Duan, You-Fei Xie, Qing-Hu Chen

The analytical exact solutions to the mixed quantum Rabi model (QRM) including both one- and two-photon terms are found by using Bogoliubov operators. Transcendental functions in terms of 4 × 4 determinants responsible for the exact solutions are derived. These so-called G-functions with pole structures can be reduced to the previous ones in the unmixed QRMs. The zeros of G-functions reproduce completely the regular spectra. The exceptional eigenvalues can also be obtained by another transcendental function. From the pole structure, we can derive two energy limits when the two-photon coupling strength tends to the collapse point. All energy levels only collapse to the lower one, which diverges negatively. The level crossings in the unmixed QRMs are relaxed to avoided crossings in the present mixed QRM due to absence of parity symmetry. In the weak two-photon coupling regime, the mixed QRM is equivalent to an one-photon QRM with an effective positive bias, suppressed photon frequency and enhanced one-photon coupling, which may pave a highly efficient and economic way to access the deep-strong one-photon coupling regime.

Analytic Solutions of Two-photon Rabi Model Based on Bargmann Space

Zhan-Yuan Yan, Xuemin Yao

Abstract The quantum Rabi model (QRM) is identified as the simplest model to study the interaction between light and matter. In recent years, Braak proposed an alternative more efficient method to obtain the exact solvability and spectrum of the QRM in the Bargmann space, which is appropriate frame for extended squeezed coherent states. Based on this feasible method, some study for the two-photon QRM is concentrated. In this paper we diagonalized the Hamiltonian and obtain the Spectrum of the system of two-photon QRM in the special case that the level splitting of the atom was equal to 0, and compared with Travĕnec’s results without diagonalizing the Hamiltonian. Finally, we confirm the validity of diagonalization for the Hamiltonian in the two-photon QRM.

Solutions to the mixed quantum Rabi model

Liwei Duan, You-Fei Xie, Qing‐Hu Chen

The analytically exact solutions to the mixed quantum Rabi model including both one- and two-photon terms are found by using Bogoliubov operators. Transcendental functions in terms of $4 \times 4$ determinants responsible for the exact solutions are derived. These so-called $G$-functions with pole structure can be reduced to the previous ones in the unmixed models. The zeros of $G$-functions reproduce completely the regular spectra. The exceptional eigenvalues can be also obtained by another transcendental function. From the pole structure, we can derive two energy limits when the two-photon coupling strength tends to the collapse point $1/2$. Surprisingly, all energy levels only collapse to the lower one, which diverges negatively. All the level crossings in the unmixed models are relaxed to avoided crossings in the present mixed model due to absence of parity symmetry. Very interestingly, the effective one-photon coupling is enhanced in the presence of the two-photon coupling, which paves a highly efficient and economic way to access the deep-strong coupling regime even though the original one-photon coupling is weak.

Two-photon Rabi–Stark model

Jiong Li, Qing‐Hu Chen

Abstract The analytically exact solutions to the two-photon Rabi–Stark model are given by using the Bogoliubov operators approach. Transcendental functions responsible for the exact solutions are derived. The zeros of the transcendental functions reproduce completely the regular spectra. The first-order quantum phase transitions are also detected by the pole structure of the derived transcendental functions, similar to the one-photon Rabi–Stark model, different from the two-photon Rabi model where the energy levels for the ground-state and the first excited state do not cross. The spectra collapse characteristics resemble those in two-photon Rabi model. Some low lying levels can split off from the collapse energy, which is different from the one-photon Rabi–Stark model in which all levels collapse.

Solutions to the quantum Rabi model with two equivalent qubits

Hui Wang, Shu He, Liwei Duan +2 more

Using extended coherent states, an analytically exact study has been carried out for the quantum Rabi model with two equivalent qubits. Compact transcendental functions of one variable have been derived leading to exact solutions. The energy spectrum is clearly identified and analyzed. Also obtained analytically are the necessary and sufficient conditions for the occurrence of isolated exceptional solutions, which are not doubly degenerate as in the one-qubit quantum Rabi model.
