Bethe ansatz and ordinary differential equation correspondence for degenerate Gaudin models

Abstract

In this work, we generalize the numerical approach to Gaudin models developed earlier by us [Faribault, El Araby, Str\"ater, and Gritsev, Phys. Rev. B 83, 235124 (2011)] to degenerate systems, showing that their treatment is surprisingly convenient from a numerical point of view. In fact, high degeneracies not only reduce the number of relevant states in the Hilbert space by a non-negligible fraction, they also allow us to write the relevant equations in the form of sparse matrix equations. Moreover, we introduce an inversion method based on a basis of barycentric polynomials that leads to a more stable and efficient root extraction, which most importantly avoids the necessity of working with arbitrary precision. As an example, we show the results of our procedure applied to the Richardson model on a square lattice.

Gaudin models solver based on the correspondence between Bethe ansatz and ordinary differential equations

Alexandre Faribault, Omar El Araby, Christoph Sträter +1 more

We present a numerical approach which allows the solving of Bethe equations whose solutions define the eigenstates of Gaudin models. By focusing on a different set of variables, the canceling divergences which occur for certain values of the coupling strength no longer appear explicitly. The problem is thus reduced to a set of quadratic algebraic equations. The required inverse transformation can then be realized using only linear operations and a standard polynomial root-finding algorithm. The method is applied to Richardson's fermionic pairing model, the central spin model, and the generalized Dicke model.

Eigenvalue-based method and form-factor determinant representations for integrable XXZ Richardson-Gaudin models

Pieter W. Claeys, Stijn De Baerdemacker, Mario Van Raemdonck +1 more

We propose an extension of the numerical approach for integrable Richardson-Gaudin models based on a new set of eigenvalue-based variables [A. Faribault et al., Phys. Rev. B 83, 235124 (2011); O. El Araby et al., Phys. Rev. B 85, 115130 (2012)]. Starting solely from the Gaudin algebra, the approach is generalized towards the full class of XXZ Richardson-Gaudin models. This allows for a fast and robust numerical determination of the spectral properties of these models, avoiding the singularities usually arising at the so-called singular points. We also provide different determinant expressions for the normalization of the Bethe ansatz states and form factors of local spin operators, opening up possibilities for the study of larger systems, both integrable and nonintegrable. These expressions can be written in terms of the new set of variables and generalize the results previously obtained for rational Richardson-Gaudin models [A. Faribault and D. Schuricht, J. Phys. A 45, 485202 (2012)] and Dicke-Jaynes-Cummings-Gaudin models [H. Tschirhart and A. Faribault, J. Phys. A 47, 405204 (2014)]. Remarkably, these results are independent of the explicit parametrization of the Gaudin algebra, exposing a universality in the properties of Richardson-Gaudin integrable systems deeply linked to the underlying algebraic structure.

The Heine–Stieltjes correspondence and the polynomial approach to the Gaudin–Richardson models

Feng Pan, Kristina D. Launey, Xin Guan

The Heine–Stieltjes correspondence is extended and applied to solve Bethe ansatz equations of the Gaudin–Richardson models, from which the extended Heine–Stieltjes polynomial approach to these models is proposed. As examples for the application of this approach, exact solutions of the standard two-site Bose–Hubbard model and the standard pairing model for nuclei are formulated from the corresponding polynomials.

Twisted rational r-matrices and algebraic Bethe ansatz: Application to generalized Gaudin and Richardson models

T. Skrypnyk, N. Manojlović

In the present paper we develop the algebraic Bethe ansatz approach to the case of non-skew-symmetric gl(2)⊗gl(2)-valued Cartan-non-invariant classical r-matrices with spectral parameters. We consider the two families of these r-matrices, namely, the two non-standard rational r-matrices twisted with the help of second order automorphisms and realize the algebraic Bethe ansatz method for them. We study physically important examples of the Gaudin-type and BCS-type systems associated with these r-matrices and obtain explicitly the Bethe vectors and the spectrum for the corresponding quantum hamiltonians in terms of solutions of Bethe equations.

Completeness of the Bethe states for the rational, spin-1/2 Richardson-Gaudin system

Jon Links

Establishing the completeness of a Bethe Ansatz solution for an exactly solved model is a perennial challenge, which is typically approached on a case by case basis. For the rational, spin-1/2 Richardson–Gaudin system it will be argued that, for generic values of the system’s coupling parameters, the Bethe states are complete. This method does not depend on knowledge of the distribution of Bethe roots, such as a string hypothesis, and is generalisable to a wider class of systems.

Heine-Stieltjes correspondence and the polynomial approach to the standard pairing problem

Xin Guan, Kristina D. Launey, Mingxia Xie +3 more

A new approach for solving the Bethe ansatz (Gaudin-Richardson) equations of the standard pairing problem is established based on the Heine-Stieltjes correspondence. For $k$ pairs of valence nucleons on $n$ different single-particle levels, it is found that solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations can be obtained from one $(k+1)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}(k+1)$ and one $(n\ensuremath{-}1)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}(k+1)$ matrices, which are associated with the extended Heine-Stieltjes and Van Vleck polynomials, respectively. Since the coefficients in these polynomials are free from divergence with variations in contrast to the original Bethe ansatz equations, the approach provides an efficient and systematic way to solve the problem, which by extension, can also be used to solve a large class of Gaudin-type quantum many-body problems, including an efficient angular momentum projection method for multiparticle systems.
