Abstract

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement for a two-parameter class of states in a hybrid qubit-qutrit system under the influence of various dissipative channels. Our results show that entanglement sudden death (ESD) is a general phenomenon and it usually takes place in a qubit-qutrit system interacting with various noisy channels, not only the case with dephasing and depolarizing channels observed by others. ESD can only be avoided for some initially entangled states under some particular noisy channels. Moreover, the environment affects the entanglement and the coherence of the system in very different ways.

Entanglement dynamics of a qubit-qutrit system in non-inertial frames

Muhammad Asif Ramzan

The effect of decoherence on a qubit-qutrit system under the influence of global and multilocal decoherence in non-inertial frames is investigated. It is shown that the entanglement sudden death (ESD) can be avoided in non-inertial frames in the presence of dephasing and bit-trit phase flip channels for entire range of decoherence. However, ESD behaviour is seen for higher level of decoherence in case of phase flip and bit-trit flip channels. Irrespective of the entanglement degradation caused by the Unruh effect, no ESD occurs for the dephasing environment. Furthermore, flipping channels have approximately similar effect on the entanglement of the hybrid system.

Entanglement Dynamics of Two-Qubit System in Different Types of Noisy Channels

Shan Chuan-Jia, Jibing Liu, Cheng Wei-Wen +3 more

In this paper, we study entanglement dynamics of a two-qubit extended Werner-like state locally interacting with independent noisy channels, i.e., amplitude damping, phase damping, and depolarizing channels. We show that the purity of initial entangled state has direct impacts on the entanglement robustness in each noisy channel. That is, if the initial entangled state is prepared in mixed instead of pure form, the state may exhibit entanglement sudden death (ESD) and/or be decreased for the critical probability at which the entanglement disappear.

Dynamics of Entanglement in Qubit-Qutrit with x -Component of DM Interaction

Kapil K. Sharma, S.N. Pandey

Abstract In this present paper, we study the entanglement dynamics in qubit A-qutrit B pair under x component of Dzyaloshinshkii–Moriya interaction (D x ) by taking an auxiliary qubit C. Here, we consider an entangled qubit-qutrit pair initially prepared in two parameter qubit-qutrit states and one auxiliary qubit prepared in pure state interacts with the qutrit of the pair through DM interaction. We trace away the auxiliary qubit and calculate the reduced dynamics in qubit A-qutrit B pair to study the influence of the state of auxiliary qubit C and D x on entanglement. We find that the state (probability amplitude) of auxiliary qubit does not influence the entanglement, only D x influences the same. The phenomenon of entanglement sudden death (ESD) induced by D x has also been observed. We also present the affected and unaffected two parameter qubit-qutrit states by D x .

Generation and sudden death of entanglement in qubit–qutrit systems with depolarising noise

SALMAN KHAN

In this paper we study the dynamics of entanglement in some hybrid qubit–qutrit systems under the influence of global, collective, local and multilocal depolarising noise. We show that depolarising noise can be used to induce entanglement. A critical point exists under every coupling of the system with the environment at which all the states are equally entangled. Furthermore, we show that no ESD occurs when either only the qubit is coupled to its local environment or the system is coupled to a multilocal or global environment. This is an important result for various quantum information processing tasks and thus merits further investigation.

DM interaction induced sudden death of entanglement in two parameter qubit-qutrit states

Kapil K. Sharma, S. N. Pandey

In this article, we present the entanglement dynamics in a qubit-qutrit system. Here, we consider a closed system as a pair of qubit-qutrit and an external qubit which interacts with the qutrit of the closed system via y-component of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We find that the state of external qubit do not affect the entanglement in two parameter qubit-qutrit states, it is only DM interaction strength which is affecting the entanglement. Further, we investigate the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death and identify the affected and unaffected two parameter qubitqutrit states by DM interaction.

Quantum Control of Finite-time Disentanglement in Qubit-Qubit and Qubit-Qutrit Systems

Mazhar Ali

This thesis is a theoretical study of entanglement dynamics and its control of qubit-qubit and qubit-qutrit systems. In particular, we focus on the decay of entanglement of quantum states interacting with dissipative environments. Qubit-qubit entanglement may vanish suddenly while interacting with statistically independent vacuum reservoirs. Such finite-time disentanglement is called sudden death of entanglement(ESD). We investigate entanglement sudden death of qubit-qubit and qubit-qutrit systems interacting with statistically independent reservoirs at zero- and finite-temperature. It is shown that for zero-temperature reservoirs, some entangled states exhibit sudden death while others lose their entanglement only after infinite time. Thus, there are two possible routes of entanglement decay, namely sudden death and asymptotic decay. We demonstrate that starting with an initial condition which leads to finite-time disentanglement, we can alter the future course of entanglement by local unitary actions. In other words, it is possible to put the quantum states on other track of decay once they are on a particular route of decay. We show that one can accelerate or delay sudden death. However, there is a critical time such that if local actions are taken before that critical time then sudden death can be delayed to infinity. Any local unitary action taken after that critical time can only accelerate or delay sudden death. In finite-temparature reservoirs, we demonstrate that a whole class of entangled states exhibit sudden death. This conclusion is valid if at least one of the reservoirs is at finite-temperature. However, we show that we can still hasten or delay sudden death by local unitary transformations up to some finite time. We also study sudden death for qubit-qutrit systems. Similar to qubit-qubit systems, some states exhibit sudden death while others do not. However, the process of disentanglement can be effected due to existence of quantum interference between excited levels of qutrit. We show that it is possible to hasten, delay, or avoid sudden death by local unitary actions taken later in time.
