Abstract

We study the dynamics of a two-level atom interacting with a Lorentzian structured reservoir considering initial system-environment correlations. It is shown that under strong system-reservoir coupling the dynamics of purity can determine whether there are initial correlations between the system and the environment. Moreover, we investigate the interaction of two two-level atoms with the same reservoir. In this case, we show that, besides determining if there are initial system-environment correlations, the dynamics of the purity of the atomic system allows the identification of the distinct correlated initial states. In addition, the dynamics of quantum and classical correlations is analyzed.

Effects of initial environmental correlations in the dynamics of open systems

Zhong‐Xiao Man, Nguyen Ba An, Yun‐Jie Xia

In this work, we study the effects of different forms of correlations of environments on the dynamics of open systems’ entanglement and discord. We consider two two-level atoms A and B interacting, respectively with two spatially separated modes a and b, each of which is in turn surrounded by a dissipative reservoir. The two modes may initially be in an entangled or classically correlated or product state with their marginal state being the same in all the cases. We compare the power of different environmental correlation forms in the revival of the atoms’ entanglement and discord in the strong atom–mode coupling regime. We also show how the dynamical behavior of the atoms’ entanglement and discord nontrivially change by the presence of initial environmental correlation in the weak atom–mode coupling regime. Finally, we reveal that initial entanglement between the modes can induce correlations between initially uncorrelated atoms.

Relation Between Purity of an Open Qubit Dynamics and Its Initial Correlation with an Environment

Jerzy Dajka, Bartłomiej Gardas, J. Łuczka

Purity as a quantifier of an impact of environment on an open quantum system is studied for a qubit dephasingly interacting with its environment. We analyze how time evolution of the purity depends on initial states of the composite system both in the case of infinite and finite environments. It is shown that for a certain class of initial preparations, the purity of an evolving qubit state initially correlated with infinite environment can be greater than in the case of uncorrelated qubit-environment initial preparations. We identify a class of initial states leading to such desired outcome.

ENTANGLEMENT DYNAMICS OF THREE-QUBIT SYSTEM IN A COMMON NON-MARKOVIAN RESERVOIR

Yanhui Wang, Zhong‐Xiao Man, Ying-Jie Zhang +1 more

We study the entanglement dynamics of three two-level atoms interacting with a structured reservoir. The atoms are initially prepared in a mixed W state while the reservoir is in the vacuum. We show the dependence of entanglement dynamics on the purity of initial atomic state and on the amount of non-Markovianity. When the initial state of atoms is in a W pure state, the entanglement will decay asymptotically, while it vanishes in a finite time if the initial state is in a mixed W state. In addition, as the memory effect of the environment, entanglement can partially revive after it vanishes, and the revival degree is dependent on the strength of non-Markovian effect. In the end, we consider the entanglement generation and its evolution when the initial state of the atoms system is completely separable.

Quantum correlation dynamics of two qubits in independent reservoirs with initial system-reservoir correlations

Xin-Ping Ma, Yue Sun, Jin‐Liang Guo

Abstract The dynamics of entanglement and quantum discord (QD) between two two-level atoms interacting with two dissipative coupled cavities in the presence of initial atom-cavity correlations is investigated. In comparison with the result of the initial factorized state, we show that the initial state contained quantum correlation of atom-cavity is most robust against the dissipative environment, and the initial atom-cavity correlations, especially the quantum correlation, play a constructive role in the generation of atomic entanglement and QD. Simultaneously, the comparison between Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics, and the influences of inter-cavity hopping rate are also taken into account and analyzed.

Dif ferent entanglement dynamics and transfer behaviors due to dipole-dipole interaction

Likai Cui Likai Cui, Ying-Jie Zhang, Zhong‐Xiao Man +1 more

We analyze entanglement dynamics and transfer in a system composed of two initially correlated two-level atoms, in which each atom is coupled with another atom interacting with its own reservoir.Considering atomic dipole-dipole interactions, the results show that dipole-dipole interactions restrain the entanglement birth of the reservoirs, and a parametric region of dipole-dipole interaction strength exists in which the maximal entanglement of two initially uncorrelated atoms is reduced. The transfer of entanglement shows obvious different behaviors in two initial Bell-like states.

System-reservoir dynamics of quantum and classical correlations

Jonas Maziero, T. Werlang, F. F. Fanchini +2 more

We examine the system-reservoir dynamics of classical and quantum correlations in the decoherence phenomenon within a two-qubit composite system interacting with two independent environments. The most common noise channels (amplitude damping, phase damping, bit flip, bit-phase flip, and phase flip) are analyzed. By analytical and numerical analyses we find that, contrary to what is usually stated in the literature, decoherence may occur without entanglement between the system and the environment. We also show that, in some cases, the bipartite quantum correlation initially present in the system is completely evaporated and not transferred to the environments.
