We show that under a certain condition of local commutativity the minimum von-Neumann entropy output of a quantum channel is locally additive. We also show that local minima of the 2-norm entropy functions are closed under tensor products if one of the subspaces has dimension 2.
We investigate decoherence induced by a quantum channel in terms of minimal output entropy and map entropy. The latter is the von Neumann entropy of the Jamiołkowski state of the channel. Both quantities admit q-Renyi versions. We prove additivity of the map entropy for all q. For the case q = 2, we show that the depolarizing channel has the smallest map entropy among all channels with a given minimal output Renyi entropy of order two. This allows us to characterize pairs of channels such that the output entropy of their tensor product acting on a maximally entangled input state is larger than the sum of the minimal output entropies of the individual channels. We conjecture that for any channel Φ1acting on a finite dimensional system, there exists a class of channels Φ2sufficiently close to a unitary map such that additivity of minimal output entropy for Ψ1⊗ Ψ2holds.
Abstract We describe the class (semigroup) of quantum channels mapping states with finite entropy into states with finite entropy. We show, in particular, that this class is naturally decomposed into three convex subclasses, two of them are closed under concatenations and tensor products. We obtain asymptotically tight universal continuity bounds for the output entropy of two types of quantum channels: channels with finite output entropy and energy-constrained channels preserving finiteness of the entropy.
We investigate decoherence induced by a quantum channel in terms of minimal output entropy and of map entropy. The latter is the von Neumann entropy of the Jamiolkowski state of the channel. We conjecture that for any channel Φ1 acting on a finite dimensional system there exists a class of channels Φ2 sufficiently close to a unitary map such that additivity of minimal output entropy for Ψ1 x Ψ2 holds.
We investigate non-random quantum channels generated from the representation the- ory of orthogonal quantum groups to perform numerical computations for estimates of their minimum output entropies. In doing so, we address the violation of the additiv- ity conjecture for minimum output entropies, previously established through probabilistic proofs. This violation is relevant because given two quantum channels whose minimum output entropies sum to a value greater than the minimum output entropy of their tensor product channel it can be shown that more information can be sent with greater fidelity via the two channels in parallel than by using each separately. This is directly related to the relevance of quantum entanglement in quantum information theory. \nWe numerically compute minimum output entropies for single quantum channels and tensor products of quantum channels with respect to both Von Neumann and Renyi en- tropies. We then proceed to compute entropy estimates for nonplanar channels directly with Temperley-Lieb Category Theory. We conclude by discussing which of our choices for channels are optimal for entangled inputs.
