Abstract

We investigate decoherence-free evolution (DFE) of quantum discord (QD) for two initially-correlated qubits in two finite-temperature reservoirs using an exactly solvable model. We study QD dynamics of the two qubits coupled to two independent Ohmic reservoirs when the two qubits are initially prepared in X-type quantum states. It is found that reservoir temperature significantly affects the DFE dynamics. We show that it is possible to control the DFE and to prolong the DFE time by choosing suitable parameters of the two-qubit system and reservoirs.

Dynamics of quantum discord and geometric quantum discord in multiqubit interacting system

Abstract Using quantum discord (QD) and geometric quantum discord (GQD), quantum correlation dynamics is investigated for two coupled qubits within a multiqubit interacting system in the zero-temperature bosonic reservoir, under both weak and strong qubit-reservoir coupling regimes. The multiqubit system is connected with either a common bosonic reservoir (CBR) or multiple independent bosonic reservoirs (IBRs). In the CBR case, our findings indicate that both QD and GQD can be strengthened by increasing the number of qubits in the multiqubit system. Furthermore, we study the steady state QD and GQD in the strong coupling regime, and find that the stable value in the long-time limit is determined exclusively by the number of qubits. The evolution period of QD and GQD gets longer as the dipole–dipole interaction (DDI) strength increases, which helps prolong the correlation time and thus preserves the quantum correlation under the weak coupling regime. Further analysis reveals notable differences between the CBR and IBRs scenarios. In the IBRs case, the decay of QD and GQD becomes slower compared to the CBR case, with both measures tending to zero at a reduced rate. Moreover, GQD consistently exhibits lower values than QD in both scenarios. These findings provide valuable insights into the selection of appropriate correlation measurement techniques for quantifying quantum correlations.

Non-Markovian dynamics of two non-coupled qubits interacting with two separate reservoirs with different spectral densities

Xiao-Yun Wang, Bang-Fu Ding, Heping Zhao

The dynamics of two non-coupled qubits independently interacting with their reservoirs is solved by the time convolutionless projection operator method. We study two-qubit quantum correlation dynamics for two different types of spectral densities, which are a Lorentzian distribution and an Ohmic spectral density with a Lorentzian—Drude cutoff function. For two qubits initially prepared in the initial Bell state, quantum discord can keep longer time and reach larger values in non-Markovian reservoirs for the first spectral distribution or by reducing the cutoff frequency for the second case. For the initial Bell-like state, the dynamic behaviors of quantum discord and entanglement are compared. The results show that a long time of quantum correlation can be obtained by adjusting some parameters in experiment and further confirm that the discord can capture quantum correlation in addition to entanglement.

Quantum Discord of Coupling Qubits in Decoherence-Free Subspace and Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

Ju Ju Hu, Haijiang Hu, Ying Hua Ji

We investigate the dynamical behavior of quantum discord for the coupling qubits that placed in squeezed vacuum reservoir and initially in decoherence-free subspace (DFS). The results show that the DFS for resisting the effects from environmental decoherence and disentanglement is not the DFS of quantum discord. We also find that under certain conditions, the quantum discord and entanglement perform completely inversely versus the squeezed parameters. The quantum discord is controlled by the squeezed parameters, especially in the initial stage of the evolution, the bigger the parameter is, and the longer the time of initial death will be.

The transfer dynamics of quantum correlation between systems and reservoirs

Zhong‐Xiao Man, Yun‐Jie Xia, Nguyen Ba An

In this work, we study the dynamics of quantum correlation (QC) in terms of quantum discord and its transfer for multiqubit systems in dissipative environments. At first, we investigate the dynamics of bipartite QC contained in a three-qubit system that are initially prepared in an extended W-like state with each qubit coupled to an independent reservoir. Subsequently, we study a realistic quantum network of several remote nodes each of which contains two qubits in contact with a common reservoir. For the simplest case of two nodes, we study the dynamics of QC and its transfer from the initially correlated system to the reservoirs and other degrees of freedom. In both models, we pay particular attention to the independent evolution and transfer of QC without the participation of entanglement when the systems of interest are initially prepared in unentangled states. We also observe the occurrence of sudden changes of quantum discord when the systems are initially in mixed states.

Dynamics of Geometric Measure of Quantum Discord of Two Qubits in Independent Reservoirs

Longjiang Liu, Jiang Zhang, Song Cheng +1 more

We study the dynamics of geometric measure of quantum discord. The model under consideration is a physical system of two qubits coupled with two independent bosonic reservoirs described by Ohmic-like spectral densities. We aim to find how the system's geometric measure of quantum discord evolves, and whether and in what conditions it may remain constant for a time interval or be frozen forever. Our result shows that by properly choosing the system's initial states, geometric measure of quantum discord may hold a frozen phenomenon in a time interval for all the three types of reservoirs, sub-Ohmic, Ohmic, and super-Ohmic reservoirs, and it may also hold a time-invariant phenomenon for super-Ohmic reservoirs. The conditions satisfied by the coefficients of standard Bell-diagonal states, in which the frozen phenomenon in a time interval or the time-invariant phenomenon of geometric measure of quantum discord appears, are given.

Quantum correlation dynamics of two qubits in independent reservoirs with initial system-reservoir correlations

Xin-Ping Ma, Yue Sun, Jin‐Liang Guo

Abstract The dynamics of entanglement and quantum discord (QD) between two two-level atoms interacting with two dissipative coupled cavities in the presence of initial atom-cavity correlations is investigated. In comparison with the result of the initial factorized state, we show that the initial state contained quantum correlation of atom-cavity is most robust against the dissipative environment, and the initial atom-cavity correlations, especially the quantum correlation, play a constructive role in the generation of atomic entanglement and QD. Simultaneously, the comparison between Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics, and the influences of inter-cavity hopping rate are also taken into account and analyzed.
