Roles of Asymptotic Condition and S-Matrix as Micro-Macro Duality in QFT

Abstract

Various versions of "independence" are actively inverstigated in quantum probability. In the context of relativistic QFT, we show here that the physical origin of "independence" can be sought in the asymptotic condition through which asymptotic fields and states exhibiting the independence emerge from the non-independent interacting Heisenberg fields in a kind of "central limit". From the algebraic viewpoint, this condition is equivalent to the on-shell condition to pick up free one-particle modes, which also reduces to Einstein's famous formula $E=mc^{2}$. A scenario to reconstruct interacting Heisenberg fields as Micro-objects from these "independent" =free Macro-objects intertwined by an S-matrix as a measurable quantity is formulated according to the Micro-Macro Duality associated with a new notion of a \textit{cocycle of K-T operators}.

Micro-Macro Duality in Quantum Physics

Izumi Ojima

Micro-Macro Duality means here the universal mutual relations between the microscopic quantum world and various macroscopic classical levels, which can be formulated mathematically as categorical adjunctions. It underlies a unified scheme for generalized sectors based upon selection criteria proposed by myself in 2003 to control different branches of physics from a unified viewpoint, which has played essential roles in extending the Doplicher-Haag-Roberts superselection theory to various situations with spontaneously as well as explicitly broken symmetries. Along this line of thought, the state correlations between a system and a measuring apparatus necessary for measurements can canonically be formulated within the context of group duality; the obtained measurement scheme is not restricted to the quantum mechanical situations with finite number of particles but can safely be applied to quantum field theory with infinite degrees of freedom whose local subalgebras are given by type III von Neumann algebras.

How to Observe Quantum Fields and Recover Them from Observational Data? -- Takesaki Duality as a Micro-Macro Duality --

Izumi Ojima, Mitsuharu Takeori

After the mathematical notion of "Micro-Macro Duality" for understanding mutual relations between microsopic quantum systems (Micro) and their macroscopic manifestations (Macro) is explained on the basis of the notion of sectors and order parameters, a general mathematical scheme is proposed for detecting the state-structure inside of a sector through measurement processes of a maximal abelian subalgebra of the algebra of observables. For this purpose, the Kac-Takesaki operators controlling group duality play essential roles, which naturally leads to the composite system of the observed system and the measuring system formulated by a crossed product. This construction of composite systems will be shown to make it possible for the Micro to be reconstructed from its observational data as Macro in the light of the Takesaki duality for crossed products.

On Entangled Markov Chains (Non-Commutative Analysis and Micro-Macro Duality)

Luigi Accardi, Takashi Matsuoka, Masanori Ohya

Entangled Markov chains, which can be recognized as quantum Markov chains in the sense of $[1|$ , were $inti^{\vee}oduced$ by Accardi and Fidaleo in order to extend the notion of classical random walk to quaritum systems. In [3], using our entanglement criterion for pure states [16] which is based on the notion of the quantum mutual information, we proved that the vector states defining the EMC's on infinite tensor products of matrix algebra $||generically^{I\dagger}$ are entangled. On the other hand we showed that this entanglement condition for pure state is sufficient condition for entanglement in the case of mixtures [4].This fact was then applied to prove that EMC with unitarily im- plementable transition operator induce a mixture entangled state on any local algebra.Interestingly it was also shown that all these local states provide a new class of examples (in any dimension) of entangled states which nevertheless satisfy the PPT condition [4].In this article we report the above results.
