Susceptibility of the transverse field Ising model on the square lattice

Abstract

Susceptibility of the transverse field Ising model on the square lattice is calculated numerically in the paramagnetic phase in a wide range of temperatures and transverse fields. An expression with one constant $π$, that determines both the critical exponent $γ$ and the critical transverse field, compellingly represents the data asymptotically near the quantum critical point, except for a narrow classical region close to the phase transition line, and shows two crossovers as temperature varies.

Longitudinal-field fidelity susceptibility analysis of the J 1 - J 2 transverse-field Ising model around J 2 / J 1 ≈ 0 . 5

Yoshihiro Nishiyama

The square-lattice J 1 - J 2 transverse-field (TF) Ising model was investigated with the exact diagonalization (ED) method. In order to analyze the TF-driven phase transition, we applied the longitudinal-field fidelity susceptibility χ F ( h ) , which is readily evaluated via the ED scheme. Here, the longitudinal field couples with the absolute value of the magnetic moment | M | rather than the raw M so that the remedied fidelity susceptibility exhibits a peak around the critical point; note that the spontaneous magnetization does not appear for the finite-size systems. As a preliminary survey, the modified fidelity susceptibility χ F ( h ) is applied to the analysis of criticality for J 2 = 0 , where a number of preceding results are available. Thereby, properly scaling the distance from the multi-criticality, η = 0 . 5 − J 2 , the χ F ( h ) data were cast into the crossover-scaling formula, and the multi-critical exponent for χ F ( h ) is estimated. The result is cross-checked by the numerically evaluated β -function behavior.

Quantum Monte Carlo study of the bond- and site-diluted transverse-field Ising model

Calvin Krämer, Max Hörmann, Kai Phillip Schmidt

We study the transverse-field Ising model on a square lattice with bond- and site-dilution at zero temperature by stochastic series expansion quantum Monte Carlo simulations. Tuning the transverse field $h$ and the dilution $p$, the quantum phase diagram of both models is explored. Both quantum phase diagrams show long-range order for small $h$ and small $p$. The ordered phase of each is separated from the disordered (quantum) Griffiths phase by second-order phase transitions on two critical lines touching at a multi-critical point. Using Binder ratios we locate quantum critical points with high accuracy. The order-parameter critical exponent $β$ and the average correlation-length exponent $ν_{\mathrm{av}}$ are determined along the critical lines and at the multi-critical points via finite-size scaling. We find three internally consistent sets of critical exponents and compare them with potentially connected universality classes. The quantum Griffiths phase in the vicinity of the phase transition lines is analyzed through the local susceptibility. Our results indicate that activated scaling occurs not only at the percolation transition, but also at the phase transition line for $p$ smaller than the percolation threshold $p_c$.

The dilute Ising model in a transverse field

Roger James Elliott, I D Saville

The dilute Ising model in a transverse field which is related to phase transitions in a number of dilute systems has been studied by series expansion techniques to obtain the susceptibility for the face-centred cubic lattice. The surface of critical points in the temperature-concentration-transverse field space is obtained together with some indication of the critical exponent gamma .

Series expansions for the zero-temperature transverse Ising model

L.G. Marland

Series expansions are presented for the magnetisation, susceptibility, magnetic field derivatives of the susceptibility and 'specific heat' of the zero-temperature transverse Ising model. Coefficients in these series have been calculated to tenth order in lambda 2 (where lambda is the transverse field) for the linear chain, to eighth order for the square lattice and to seventh order for the triangular lattice. These series yield estimates of the low-temperature critical exponents alpha ', beta ', gamma ' and Delta ' of the two- and three-dimensional Ising models. They provide good evidence for the symmetry of exponents above and below the critical point, e.g. gamma '= gamma .

Critical Behaviour of the Ising Model with a Transverse Field

Julia Mihailowa Wesselinowa

Abstract A Green's function technique is developed to study the Ising model with a transverse field. The order parameter and the longitudinal susceptibility are determined. The critical exponents β and γ are numerical calculated for different dimensional lattices. Using the scaling laws, α, δ, η, and v are obtained too. The critical exponents are in very good agreement with other theoretical results and with the experimental data.

Classical transverse Ising spin glass with short-range interactions beyond the mean-field approximation

Katarzyna Walasek, K. Lukierska‐Walasek, L. De Cesare +1 more

The classical transverse field Ising spin-glass model with short-range interactions is investigated beyond the mean-field approximation for a real d -dimensional lattice. We use an appropriate non-trivial modification of the Bethe-Peierls method recently formulated for the Ising spin-glass. The zero-temperature critical value of the transverse field and the linear susceptibility in the paramagnetic phase are obtained analytically as functions of dimensionality d . The phase diagram is also calculated numerically for different values of d . In the limit , known mean-field results are consistently reproduced.
