Transient entanglement in a spin chain stimulated by phase pulses

Abstract

Dynamics of the one-dimensional open Ising chain under influence of $π$ -pulses is studied. It is shown that the application of a specific sequence of such instant kicks to selective spins stimulates arising of perfect dynamical pairwise entanglement between ends of the spin chain. Analytic formulas for the concurrence dynamics are derived. It is also shown that the time required to perfectly entangle the ends of the chains grows linearly with the number of spins in the chain. The final entangled state of the ending spins is always the same and does not depend on length the chain.

Entanglement enhancement for two spins assisted by two phase kicks

Gennadiy N Burlak, Isabel Sainz, A. B. Klimov

We study the entanglement dynamics in a two-spin system governed by a bilinear Hamiltonian and assisted by phase kicks. It is found that the application of instant kicks to both spins at some specific moments leads to enhancement of entanglement. This procedure also improves the transient character of entanglement leading, for large spins, to a formation of a plateau for the $I$ concurrence. We have numerically investigated the spin-spin dynamics for several values of spins and observed a substantial enhancement of entanglement in comparison to the evolution without kicks.

Non Local Detection of quantum dynamical processes in spin chains

Saikat Sur, V. Subrahmanyam

We study the dynamics of a one dimensional quantum spin chain evolving from unentangled or entangled initial state. At a given instant of time a quantum dynamical process (ex. measurement) is performed on a single spin at one end of the chain. The aim is to detect if the process occurred or not from a measurement on a far away spin at a later time. From the dynamical evolution of the state from the epoch time it is possible to detect the occurrence of the dynamical process. The propagation of the signal for the dynamical process, and the speed of the signal are investigated for various spin models, viz. the Ising, Heisenberg, and the transverse-XY dynamics.

Dynamics of entanglement in a one-dimensional Ising chain

G. B. Furman, V. Meerovich, Vladimir Sokolovsky

The evolution of entanglement in a one-dimensional Ising chain is numerically studied under various initial conditions. We analyze two problems concerning the dynamics of entanglement: (i) generation of the entanglement from the pseudopure separable state and (ii) transportation of the entanglement from one end of the chain to the other. The model investigated is a one-dimensional Ising spin-1/2 chain with nearest-neighbor interactions placed in an external magnetic field and irradiated by a weak resonant transverse field. The possibility of selective initialization of partially entangled states is considered. It was shown that, in spite of the use of a model with direct interactions between the nearest neighbors, entanglement between remote spins is generated.

Remotely detecting the signal of a local decohering process in spin chains

Saikat Sur, V. Subrahmanyam

Abstract We study the dynamics of a one dimensional quantum spin chain evolving from unentangled or entangled initial state. At a given instant of time a quantum dynamical process (ex. quantum measurement operation) is performed on a single spin at one end of the chain, decohering the system. Through the further unitary evolution, a signal propagates in the spin chain, which can be detected from a measurement on a different spin at later times. From the dynamical unitary evolution of the decohered state from the epoch time, it is possible to detect the occurrence of the quantum operation. The propagation of the signal for the dynamical process, and the speed of the signal are investigated for various spin models, viz. using the Ising, Heisenberg and transverse- XY dynamics.

Evolution of pairwise entanglement in a coupled n -body system

Carlos Pineda, T. H. Seligman

We study the exact evolution of two noninteracting qubits, initially in a Bell state, in the presence of an environment, modeled by a kicked Ising spin chain. Dynamics of this model range from integrable to chaotic and we can handle numerics for a large number of qubits. We find that the entanglement (as measured by concurrence) of the two qubits has a close relation to the purity of the pair, and closely follows an analytic relation derived for Werner states. As a collateral result we find that an integrable environment causes quadratic decay of concurrence as well as of purity, while a chaotic environment causes linear decay. Both quantities display recurrences in an integrable environment.

Spread of Entanglement in Generalized Kicked Ising Chain

Tanay Pathak, Hiromi Ebisu, Tomaž Prosen

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement in a generalized version of the kicked Ising chain, extending the model from the standard qubit case (local dimension $q=2$) to higher local dimensions ($q > 2$). We identify the existence of ''dual-unitary'' points where the model's space-time duality allows for exact analytical solutions. Our analysis reveals that while a few unique dual-unitary points exist analytically for systems with local dimensions $q=3$ and $q=4$, such points do not exist for $q \ge 5$ due to the lack of a unique kicking strength that satisfies the required matrix element conditions. Utilizing the transfer matrix method and a replica trick specifically adapted for higher dimensions, we derive exact expressions for the growth of entanglement entropy in the $q=3$ (kicked Potts-type) model starting from a class of solvable initial states. Our results demonstrate that at the dual-unitary point, both Rényi and von Neumann entanglement entropies grow linearly with time until reaching a maximum value determined by the subsystem size.
