Abstract

We study the quantum correlation and classical correlation dynamics in a spin-boson model. For two different forms of spectral density, we obtain analytical results and show that the evolutions of both correlations depend closely on the form of the initial state. At the end of evolution, all correlations initially stored in the spin system transfer to reservoirs. It is found that, for a large family of initial states, quantum correlation remains equal to the classical correlation during the course of evolution. In addition, there is no increase in the correlations during the course of evolution.

Quantum vs classical dynamics in a spin-boson system: manifestations of spectral correlations and scarring

D Villaseñor, Saúl Pilatowsky-Cameo, M A Bastarrachea-Magnani +3 more

Abstract We compare the entire classical and quantum evolutions of the Dicke model in its regular and chaotic domains. This is a paradigmatic interacting spin-boson model of great experimental interest. By studying the classical and quantum survival probabilities of initial coherent states, we identify features of the long-time dynamics that are purely quantum and discuss their impact on the equilibration times. We show that the ratio between the quantum and classical asymptotic values of the survival probability serves as a metric to determine the proximity to a separatrix in the regular regime and to distinguish between two manifestations of quantum chaos: scarring and ergodicity. In the case of maximal quantum ergodicity, our results are analytical and show that quantum equilibration takes longer than classical equilibration.

Geometric phases and quantum correlations dynamics in spin-boson model

Wei Wu, Jing‐Bo Xu

We explore the dynamics of spin-boson model for the Ohmic bath by employing the master equation approach and obtain an explicit expression of reduced density matrix. We also calculate the geometric phases of the spin-boson model by making use of the analytical results and discuss how the dissipative bosonic environment affects geometric phases. Furthermore, we investigate the dynamics of quantum discord and entanglement of two qubits each locally interacting with its own independent bosonic environments. It is found that the decay properties of quantum discord and entanglement are sensitive to the choice of initial state's parameter and coupling strength between system and bath.

Dynamics of entangled states in a correlated reservoir

Khalid Saleh Aloufi, Smail B. Bougouffa, Z. Ficek

Dynamics of entangled states of two independent single-mode cavities in a correlated (squeezed) reservoir are investigated in the context of matching the correlations contained in the entangled states to those contained in the reservoir. We illustrate our considerations by examining the time evolution of entanglement of initial single and double excitation NOON and EPR states, and a comparison is made of when each cavity is coupled to its own reservoir or both cavities are coupled to a common reservoir. It is shown that the evolution of the initial entanglement and transfer of entanglement from the squeezed reservoir to the cavity modes depend crucially on the matching of the initial correlations to those contained in the squeezed reservoir. In particular, it is found that initially entangled modes with correlations different from the reservoir correlations prevent the transfer of the correlations from the squeezed field to the modes. In addition, we find that the transient entanglement exhibits several features unique to the quantum nature of squeezing. In particular, we show that in the case of separate squeezed reservoirs the initial entanglement disappears at a finite time, which for the so-called classically squeezed field remains almost the same as in the case of a thermal field. In the case of a common reservoir a recurrence of entanglement occurs and we find that this feature also results from the reservoir correlations unique to quantum correlations. There is no revival of the entanglement when the modes interact with a classically correlated field.

The transfer dynamics of quantum correlation between systems and reservoirs

Zhong‐Xiao Man, Yun‐Jie Xia, Nguyen Ba An

In this work, we study the dynamics of quantum correlation (QC) in terms of quantum discord and its transfer for multiqubit systems in dissipative environments. At first, we investigate the dynamics of bipartite QC contained in a three-qubit system that are initially prepared in an extended W-like state with each qubit coupled to an independent reservoir. Subsequently, we study a realistic quantum network of several remote nodes each of which contains two qubits in contact with a common reservoir. For the simplest case of two nodes, we study the dynamics of QC and its transfer from the initially correlated system to the reservoirs and other degrees of freedom. In both models, we pay particular attention to the independent evolution and transfer of QC without the participation of entanglement when the systems of interest are initially prepared in unentangled states. We also observe the occurrence of sudden changes of quantum discord when the systems are initially in mixed states.

Spin-1 quantum walks

Daichi Morita, Toshihiro Kubo, 康弘 都倉 +1 more

We study the quantum walks of two interacting spin-1 bosons. We derive an exact solution for the time-dependent wave function, which describes the two-particle dynamics governed by the one-dimensional spin-1 Bose-Hubbard model. We show that propagation dynamics in real space and mixing dynamics in spin space are correlated via the spin-dependent interaction in this system. The spin-mixing dynamics has two characteristic frequencies in the limit of large spin-dependent interactions. One of the characteristic frequencies is determined by the energy difference between two bound states, and the other frequency relates to the cotunneling process of a pair of spin-1 bosons. Furthermore, we numerically analyze the growth of the spin correlations in quantum walks. We find that long-range spin correlations emerge showing a clear dependence on the sign of the spin-dependent interaction and the initial state.

Dynamical signatures of quantum chaos and relaxation time scales in a spin-boson system

Sergio Lerma-Hernández, David Villaseñor, M. A. Bastarrachea-Magnani +3 more

Quantum systems whose classical counterparts are chaotic typically have highly correlated eigenvalues and level statistics that coincide with those from ensembles of full random matrices. A dynamical manifestation of these correlations comes in the form of the so-called correlation hole, which is a dip below the saturation point of the survival probability's time evolution. In this work, we study the correlation hole in the spin-boson (Dicke) model, which presents a chaotic regime and can be realized in experiments with ultracold atoms and ion traps. We derive an analytical expression that describes the entire evolution of the survival probability and allows us to determine the time scales of its relaxation to equilibrium. This expression shows remarkable agreement with our numerical results. While the initial decay and the time to reach the minimum of the correlation hole depend on the initial state, the dynamics beyond the hole up to equilibration is universal. We find that the relaxation time of the survival probability for the Dicke model increases linearly with system size.
