Abstract

The phase transitions at finite temperatures in the systems described by the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model are investigated in this work in the framework of the selfconsistent random phase approximation. The case of the hard-core bosons is considered and pseudospin formalism is used. The density-density correlator is calculated in the random phase approximation and the possibilities of transitions from superfluid to supersolid phases are investigated. It is shown that the transitions between uniform and charge ordered phases can be of the second or the first order, depending on the system parameters.

Phase transitions in Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model in the heavy fermion limit: Hard-core boson approach

Stasyuk, Володимир Олександрович Краснов

Phase transitions are investigated in the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model in the mean field and hard-core boson approximations for the case of infinitely small fermion transfer and repulsive on-site boson-fermion interaction. The behavior of the Bose-Einstein condensate order parameter and grand canonical potential is analyzed as functions of the chemical potential of bosons at zero temperature. The possibility of change of order of the phase transition to the superfluid phase in the regime of fixed values of the chemical potentials of Bose-and Fermi-particles is established. The relevant phase diagrams are built.

Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model on a lattice with two nonequivalent sublattices

Mysakovych

Phase transitions in systems described by Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model on a lattice with two nonequivalent sublattices are investigated in this work. The case of hard-core bosons is considered and pseudospin formalism is used. Phase diagrams are built in the plain of chemical potential of the bosons-bosonic hopping parameter. It is shown that in the case of anisotropic hopping, the region of the supersolid phase existence is possible for a smaller parameter space.

Phase diagrams of the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model: Hubbard operator approach

Stasyuk, Mysakovych, Володимир Олександрович Краснов

The phase transitions in the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model are investigated. The boson Green's function is calculated in the random phase approximation (RPA) and the formalism of the Hubbard operators is used. The regions of existence of the superfluid and Mott insulator phases are established and the (µ, t) (the boson chemical potential vs. hopping parameter) phase diagrams are built at different values of boson-fermion interaction constant (in the regimes of fixed chemical potential or fixed concentration of fermions). The effect of temperature change on this transition is analyzed and the phase diagrams in the (T, µ) plane are constructed. The role of thermal activation of the ion hopping is investigated by taking into account the temperature dependence of the transfer parameter. The reconstruction of the Mott-insulator lobes due to this effect is analyzed.

Extended Bose-Hubbard Model with Cavity-Mediated Infinite-Range Interactions at Finite Temperatures

Huang-Jie Chen, Yan-Qiang Yu, Dong-Chen Zheng +1 more

We consider the finite-temperature properties of the extended Bose-Hubbard model realized recently in an ETH experiment [Nature 532, 476 (2016)]. Competing short- and global-range interactions accommodate fascinating collective phenomena. We formulate a self-consistent mean-field theory to describe the behaviors of the system at finite temperatures. At a fixed chemical potential, we map out the distributions of the superfluid order parameters and number densities with respect to the temperatures. For a charge density wave, we find that the global-range interaction enhances the charge order by increasing the transition temperature at which the charge order melts out, while for a supersolid phase, we find that the disappearance of the charge order and the superfluid order occurs at different temperature. At a fixed number-density filling factor, we extract the temperature dependence of the thermodynamic functions such as internal energy, specific heat and entropy. Across the superfluid phase transition, the specific heat has a discontinuous jump.

Successive phase transitions at finite temperatures toward the supersolid state in a three-dimensional extended Bose-Hubbard model

Keisuke Yamamoto, Synge Todo, Seiji Miyashita

We study the finite temperature properties of the extended Bose-Hubbard model on a cubic lattice. This model exhibits the so-called supersolid state. To start with, we investigate the ground-state phase diagram and find the supersolid state in the region of underdoped (less than the half-filled) density in contrast to the cases of one- and two-dimensional systems where the superfluid state and the solid state show the phase separation. Next, we investigate ordering processes at finite temperatures by quantum Monte Carlo simulations and find successive superfluid and solid phase transitions. There, we find that the two order parameters compete with each other. We establish a finite temperature phase diagram, which contains the superfluid, the solid, the supersolid, and the disordered phases. We develop a mean-field theory to analyze the ordering processes and compare the result with that obtained by simulations and discuss the mechanism of the competition of these two orders. We also study how the supersolid region shrinks as the on-site repulsion becomes strong.
