Universality of the negativity in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model

Abstract

The entanglement between noncomplementary blocks of a many-body system, where a part of the system forms an ignored environment, is a largely untouched problem without analytic results. We rectify this gap by studying the logarithmic negativity between two macroscopic sets of spins in an arbitrary tripartition of a collection of mutually interacting spins described by the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick Hamiltonian. This entanglement measure is found to be finite and universal at the critical point for any tripartition whereas it diverges for a bipartition. In this limiting case, we show that it behaves as the entanglement entropy, suggesting a deep relation between the scaling exponents of these two independently defined quantities which may be valid for other systems.

Equivalence of Critical Scaling Laws for Many-Body Entanglement in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick Model

Román Orús, Sébastien Dusuel, Julien Vidal

We establish a relation between several entanglement properties in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model, which is a system of mutually interacting spins embedded in a magnetic field. We provide analytical proofs that the single-copy entanglement and the global geometric entanglement of the ground state close to and at criticality behave as the entanglement entropy. These results are in deep contrast to what is found in one- dimensional spin systems where these three entanglement measures behave differently.

Many-particle entanglement in the gaped antiferromagnetic Lipkin model

Razmik G. Unanyan, C. Ionescu, Michael Fleischhauer

Bipartite and global entanglement are analyzed for the ground state of a system of $N$ spin-$1∕2$ particles interacting via a collective spin-spin coupling described by the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick Hamiltonian. Under certain conditions, which include the special case of supersymmetry, the ground state can be constructed analytically. In the case of antiferromagnetic coupling and for an even number of particles, the system has a finite energy gap and the ground state undergoes a smooth transition, as a function of the continuous anisotropy parameter $\ensuremath{\gamma}$, from a separable $(\ensuremath{\gamma}=\ensuremath{\infty})$ to a maximally entangled state $(\ensuremath{\gamma}=0)$. From the analytic expression for the ground state, the bipartite entanglement between two subsets of spins as well as the global entanglement are calculated. Despite the absence of a quantum phase transition a discontinuous change of the scaling of the bipartite entanglement with the number of spins in the subsystem is found at the isotropy point $\ensuremath{\gamma}=0$: While at $\ensuremath{\gamma}=0$ the entanglement grows logarithmically with the system size with no upper bound, it saturates for $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\ne}0$ at a level only depending on $\ensuremath{\gamma}$.

Entanglement entropy in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model

José Ignacio Latorre, Román Orús, E. Rico +1 more

We analyze the entanglement entropy in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model, which describes mutually interacting spin 1/2 embedded in a magnetic field. This entropy displays a singularity at the critical point that we study as a function of the interaction anisotropy, the magnetic field, and the system size. Results emerging from our analysis are surprisingly similar to those found for the one- dimensional $XY$ chain.

Generalized isotropic Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models: ground state entanglement and quantum entropies

José A Carrasco, Federico Finkel, Artemio González-López +2 more

Abstract We introduce a new class of generalized isotropic Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models with spin and long-range non-constant interactions, whose non-degenerate ground state is a Dicke state of type. We evaluate in closed form the reduced density matrix of a block of L spins when the whole system is in its ground state, and study the corresponding von Neumann and Rényi entanglement entropies in the thermodynamic limit. We show that both of these entropies scale as when L tends to infinity, where the coefficient a is equal to ( m − k )/2 in the ground state phase with k vanishing magnon densities. In particular, our results show that none of these generalized Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models are critical, since when their Rényi entropy R q becomes independent of the parameter q . We have also computed the Tsallis entanglement entropy of the ground state of these generalized Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick models, finding that it can be made extensive by an appropriate choice of its parameter only when . Finally, in the case we construct in detail the phase diagram of the ground state in parameter space, showing that it is determined in a simple way by the weights of the fundamental representation of . This is also true in the case; for instance, we prove that the region for which all the magnon densities are non-vanishing is an ( m + 1)-simplex in whose vertices are the weights of the fundamental representation of .

Bi-partite and global entanglement in a many-particle system with collective spin coupling

Razmik G. Unanyan, C. Ionescu, Michael Fleischhauer

Bipartite and global entanglement are analyzed for the ground state of a system of $N$ spin 1/2 particles interacting via a collective spin-spin coupling described by the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) Hamiltonian. Under certain conditions which includes the special case of a super-symmetry, the ground state can be constructed analytically. In the case of an anti-ferromagnetic coupling and for an even number of particles this state undergoes a smooth crossover as a function of the continuous anisotropy parameter $γ$ from a separable ($γ=\infty $) to a maximally entangled many-particle state ($γ=0$). From the analytic expression for the ground state, bipartite and global entanglement are calculated. In the thermodynamic limit a discontinuous change of the scaling behavior of the bipartite entanglement is found at the isotropy point $γ=0$. For $% γ=0$ the entanglement grows logarithmically with the system size with no upper bound, for $γ\neq 0$ it saturates at a level only depending on $γ$. For finite systems with total spin $J=N/2$ the scaling behavior changes at $γ=γ_{\mathrm{crit}}=1/J$.

Eigenstate entanglement in integrable collective spin models

Meenu Kumari, Alvaro Martin Alhambra

The average entanglement entropy (EE) of the energy eigenstates in non-vanishing partitions has been recently proposed as a diagnostic of integrability in quantum many-body systems. For it to be a faithful characterization of quantum integrability, it should distinguish quantum systems with a well-defined classical limit in the same way as the unequivocal classical integrability criteria. We examine the proposed diagnostic in the class of collective spin models characterized by permutation symmetry in the spins. The well-known Lipkin-Meshov-Glick (LMG) model is a paradigmatic integrable system in this class with a well-defined classical limit. Thus, this model is an excellent testbed for examining quantum integrability diagnostics. First, we calculate analytically the average EE of the Dicke basis {|j,m⟩}m=−jj in any non-vanishing bipartition, and show that in the thermodynamic limit, it converges to 1/2 of the maximal EE in the corresponding bipartition. Using finite-size scaling, we numerically demonstrate that the aforementioned average EE in the thermodynamic limit is universal for all parameter values of the LMG model. Our analysis illustrates how a value of the average EE far away from the maximal in the thermodynamic limit could be a signature of integrability.
