Abstract

We calculate the dissipative dynamics of two-qubit quantum discord under Markovian environments. We analyze various dissipative channels such as dephasing, depolarizing, and generalized amplitude damping, assuming independent perturbation, in which each qubit is coupled to its own channel. Choosing initial conditions that manifest the so-called sudden death of entanglement, we compare the dynamics of entanglement with that of quantum discord. We show that in all cases where entanglement suddenly disappears, quantum discord vanishes only in the asymptotic limit, behaving similarly to individual decoherence of the qubits, even at finite temperatures. Hence, quantum discord is more robust than the entanglement against decoherence so that quantum algorithms based only on quantum discord correlations may be more robust than those based on entanglement.

Dissipative Dynamics of Quantum and Classical Correlations for Two-Qubit Under Two-Side and One-Side Decoherence

X. Li, Mao-Fa Fang, Chengzhi Wang +1 more

The dissipative dynamics of classical correlation(CC), quantum discord(QD) and entanglement (QE) of two qubits in two-side and one-side decoherence models are inves- tigated under Markovian environments. We find the sudden change QD as well as CC and sudden death of entanglement (ESD). The results show that QD and QE decay faster with the increasing of squeezing parameter r; the dipole-dipole interaction W under two-side decoherence leads to the oscillation of quantum discord and concurrence for initial non- eigenstates; while in all cases when entanglement suddenly disappears, quantum discord keeps nonzero under same conditions.

Robustness of interferometric power to sudden death

Dian Zhu, Fulin Zhang, Jing‐Ling Chen

In this paper, we study the dissipative dynamics of interferometric power as a discord-like measure in Markovian environments such as dephasing, depolarizing, and generalized amplitude damping. Moreover, we compare the dynamics of interferometric power and entanglement by choosing the proper initial conditions. Our study shows that interferometric power decays asymptotically in all cases where the sudden death of entanglement appears. Therefore, quantum metrology based on interferometric power is more robust than entanglement.

Non-Markovian dynamics of quantum discord

F. F. Fanchini, T. Werlang, Carlos Alexandre Brasil +2 more

We evaluate the quantum discord dynamics of two qubits in independent and common non-Markovian environments. We compare the dynamics of entanglement with that of quantum discord. For independent reservoirs the quantum discord vanishes only at discrete instants whereas the entanglement can disappear during a finite time interval. For a common reservoir, quantum discord and entanglement can behave very differently with sudden birth of the former but not of the latter. Furthermore, in this case the quantum discord dynamics presents sudden changes in the derivative of its time evolution which is evidenced by the presence of kinks in its behavior at discrete instants of time.

Non-Markovian effect on the quantum discord

Bo Wang, Zhenyu Xu, Zeqian Chen +1 more

We study the non-Markovian effect on the dynamics of the quantum discord by exactly solving a model consisting of two independent qubits subject to two zero-temperature non-Markovian reservoirs, respectively. Considering the two qubits initially prepared in Bell-like or extended Werner-like states, we show that there is no occurrence of the sudden death, but only instantaneous disappearance of the quantum discord at some time points, in comparison to the entanglement sudden death in the same range of the parameters of interest. This implies that the quantum discord is more useful than the entanglement to describe the quantum correlation involved in quantum systems.

Robustness of quantum discord to sudden death in NMR

Jianwei Xu, Qihui Chen

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement and quantum discord of two qubits in liquid state homonuclear NMR. Applying a phenomenological description for NMR under relaxation process, and taking a group of typical parameters of NMR, we show that when a zero initial state $|00> $ experiences a relaxation process, its entanglement disappears completely after a sequence of so-called sudden deaths and revivals, while the quantum discord retains remarkable values after a sequence of oscillations. That is to say, the quantum discord is more robust than entanglement.
