Abstract

In the present paper we study nonlinear dynamics of quantum quadratic operators (q.q.o) acting on the algebra of $2\times 2$ matrices $\bm_2(\bc)$. First, we describe q.q.o. with Haar state as well as quadratic operators with the Kadison-Schwarz property. By means of such a description we provide an example of q.q.o. which is not the Kadision-Schwarz operator. Then we study stability of dynamics of q.q.o.

On Pure Quasi-Quantum Quadratic Operators of 𝕄2(ℂ)

Farrukh Maksutovich Mukhamedov, Abduaziz Abduganiev

In this paper we study quasi-quantum quadratic operators (quasi-QQO) acting on the algebra of 2 × 2 matrices 𝕄2(ℂ). It is known that a channel is called pure if it sends pure states to pure ones. In this paper, we introduce a weaker condition for the channel called q-purity. To study q-pure channels, we concentrate on quasi-QQO acting on 𝕄2(ℂ). We describe all trace-preserving quasi-QQO on 𝕄2(ℂ), which allows us to prove that if a trace-preserving symmetric quasi-QQO is such that the corresponding quadratic operator is linear, then its q-purity implies its positivity. If a symmetric quasi-QQO has a Haar state τ, then its corresponding quadratic operator is nonlinear, and it is proved that such q-pure symmetric quasi-QQO cannot be positive. We think that such a result will allow one to check whether a given mapping from 𝕄2(ℂ) to 𝕄2(ℂ) ⊗ 𝕄2(ℂ) is pure or not. On the other hand, our study is related to the construction of pure quantum nonlinear channels. Moreover, we also indicate that nonlinear dynamics associated with pure quasi-QQO may have different kind of dynamics, i.e. it may behave chaotically or trivially.

Nonlinear differential dynamics of Gaussian States

Julio A. López-Saldívar, Margarita A. Man’ko, Vladimir I. Man’ko

The dynamics of Gaussian states for systems with Hamiltonians, quadratic in the position and momentum operators, gives rise to the definition of a system of nonlinear coupled differential equations for the density matrix parameters of the system states. In this work, we show that, using the Gaussian-state covariance-matrix evolution, it is possible to solve the system of these nonlinear equations. Some examples of applications of the method developed are given for one- and two-dimensional quadratic-system Gaussian states. It is noted that this formalism can also be used to find new constants of motion related to the covariance matrices of quadratic systems.

Characterization and moment stability analysis of quasilinear quantum stochastic systems with quadratic coupling to external fields

Igor G. Vladimirov, Ian R. Petersen

The paper is concerned with open quantum systems whose Heisenberg dynamics are described by quantum stochastic differential equations driven by external boson fields. The system-field coupling operators are assumed to be quadratic polynomials of the system variables, with the latter satisfying canonical commutation relations. In combination with a cubic system Hamiltonian, this leads to quasilinear quantum stochastic systems which extend the class of linear quantum systems and yet retain algebraic closedness in the evolution of mixed moments of system variables up to any order. Although such a system is nonlinear and its quantum state is no longer Gaussian, the dynamics of the moments are amenable to exact analysis, including the computation of their steady-state values. A generalized criterion is outlined for quadratic stability of the quasilinear systems.

3 Robust Stability of Quantum Systems with Nonlinear Dynamic Uncertainties

Ian R. Petersen

This paper considers the problem of robust stability for a class of uncertain nonlinear quantum systems subject to unknown perturbations in the system Hamiltonian. The nominal system is a linear quantum system defined by a linear vector of coupling operators and a quadratic Hamiltonian. This paper extends previous results on the robust stability of nonlinear quantum systems to allow for quantum systems with dynamic uncertainties. These dynamic uncertainties are required to satisfy a certain quantum stochastic integral quadratic constraint. The robust stability condition is given in terms of a strict bounded real condition. This result is applied to the robust stability analysis of an optical parametric amplifier.
