Abstract

Recently Xiao et al. proposed a scheme for entanglement purification based on doubly entangled photon states (Phys. Rev. A 77(2008) 042315). We modify their scheme for improving the efficiency of entanglement purification. This modified scheme contains two steps, i.e., the bit-flip error correction and the entanglement purification of phase-flip errors. All the photon pairs in the first step can be kept as all the bit-flip errors are corrected. For purifying the phase-flip errors, a wavelength conversion process is needed. This scheme has the advantage of high efficiency and it requires the original fidelity of the entangled state wanted fay lower than other schemes, which makes it more feasible in a practical application.

High-efficient two-step entanglement purification using hyperentanglement

Lan Zhou, Yu‐Bo Sheng

Entanglement purification is a powerful method to distill the high-quality entanglement from low-quality entanglement. In the paper, we propose an efficient two-step entanglement purification protocol (EPP) for the polarization entanglement by using only one copy of two-photon hyperentangled state in polarization, spatial-mode, and time-bin DOFs. We suppose that the entanglement in all DOFs suffer from channel noise. In two purification steps, the parties can reduce the bit-flip error and phase-flip error in polarization DOF by consuming the imperfect entanglement in the spatial-mode and time-bin DOFs, respectively. This EPP effectively reduces the consumption of entanglement pairs and the experimental difficulty. Moreover, if consider the practical photon transmission and detector efficiencies, our EPP has much higher purification efficiency than previous recurrence EPPs. Meanwhile, when one or two purification steps fail, the distilled mixed state may have residual entanglement. Taking use of the residual entanglement, the parties may still distill higher-quality polarization entanglement. Even if not, they can still reuse the residual entanglement in the next purification round. The existence of residual entanglement benefits for increasing the yield of the EPP. All the above advantages make our EPP have potential application in future quantum information processing.

Purification of Logic-Qubit Entanglement

Lan Zhou, Yu‐Bo Sheng

Recently, the logic-qubit entanglement shows its potential application in future quantum communication and quantum network. However, the entanglement will suffer from the noise and decoherence. In this paper, we will investigate the first entanglement purification protocol for logic-qubit entanglement. We show that both the bit-flip error and phase-flip error in logic-qubit entanglement can be well purified. Moreover, the bit-flip error in physical-qubit entanglement can be completely corrected. The phase-flip in physical-qubit entanglement error equals to the bit-flip error in logic-qubit entanglement, which can also be purified. This entanglement purification protocol may provide some potential applications in future quantum communication and quantum network.

Efficient entanglement purification for polarization logic Bell state with the photonic Faraday rotation

Zhou, Lan, Yu‐Bo Sheng

Logic-qubit entanglement is a promising resource in quantum information processing, especially in future large-scale quantum networks. In the paper, we put forward an efficient entanglement purification protocol (EPP) for nonlocal mixed logic entangled states with the bit-flip error in the logic qubits of the logic Bell state, resorting to the photon-atom interaction in low-quality (Q) cavity and atomic state measurement. Different from existing EPPs, this protocol can also purify the logic phase-flip error, and the bit-flip error and the phase-flip error in physic qubit. During the protocol, we only require to measure the atom states, and it is useful for improving the entanglement of photon systems in future large-scale quantum networks.

A Tailored Fidelity Estimation and Purification Method for Entangled Quantum Networks

Takafumi Oka, Michal Hajdušek, Shota Nagayama +1 more

We present a method to conduct both quantum state reconstruction and entanglement purification simultaneously that is advantageous in several respects over previous work in this direction, showing that the number of Bell pairs necessary to boot a quantum network can be significantly reduced compared to an existing method. The existing method requires at least $10^5$ Bell pairs for the state reconstruction phase to estimate that the state is of fidelity $0.99$ within the error range of $10^{-2}$, whereas our approach only requires around $2,841$ to be certain with $99.7\%$ of confidence that the estimated fidelity lies within $[0.99-0.01, 0.99+0.01]$. In addition, in our approach we can start with a lower fidelity Bell pair and purify it multiple times, estimating at the same time the resultant fidelity with guarantee of $99.7\%$ that the fidelity estimate lies within a certain range. Moreover, the existing method cannot correct both bit-flip and phase-flip errors at the same time and can only correct one of these, whereas our approach can correct both bit-flip and phase-flip errors simultaneously. This research produces numerical estimates for the number of Bell pairs actually needed to guarantee a certain threshold fidelity $F$. The research can support the functioning real-world quantum networking by providing the information of the time needed for the bootstrapping of a quantum network to finish.

Yonghe Yu, Siyan Zhou, Mujtaba Zahidy +4 more

We demonstrate the first on-chip deterministic entanglement purification based on silicon photonics. To evaluate the purification performance, we simulate the bit-flip and phase-flip errors by reconfigurable circuits on chip. The state fidelity improves from 0.71 to 0.82 under a 20 % bit-flip error rate.

Multi-photon Entanglement Purification Based on Low-Q cavities

任世佳 REN Shi-jia, 张寿 ZHANG Shou

We propose a multipartite entanglement purification protocol(MEPP) for photonic entangled states using low-Q cavities. In our MEPP,the multipartite photonic entangled states can be purified with the two steps,i.e.,bit-flip error correction and phase-flip error correction. We can repeat these two steps to get a hight-fidelity entangled photonic states.By the single photon input-output process regarding the low-Q cavity containing an atom, the parity of photonic polarization state can be nondestructive detect.Different from other photonic MEPPs,Our MEPP are nondestructive and feasible in current experiment conditions.
