Abstract

We show that all pure entangled states of two d-dimensional quantum systems (i.e., two qudits) can be generated from an initial separable state via a universal Yang–Baxter matrix if one is assisted by local unitary transformations.

Yang–Baxter equation in all dimensions and universal qudit gates

Arash Pourkia

We construct solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation in any dimension $$d\ge 2$$ by directly generalizing the previously found solutions for $$d=2$$ . We equip those solutions with unitarity and entangling properties. Being unitary, they can be turned into $$2$$ -qudit quantum logic gates for qudit-based systems. The entangling property enables each of those solutions, together with all $$1$$ -qudit gates, to form a universal set of quantum logic gates.

Entanglement and Berry Phase in a $9\times 9$ Yang-Baxter system

Chunfang Sun, Gangcheng Wang, Kang Xue

A M-matrix which satisfies the Hecke algebraic relations is presented. Via the Yang-Baxterization approach, we obtain a unitary solution $\breve{R}(θ,φ_{1},φ_{2})$ of Yang-Baxter Equation. It is shown that any pure two-qutrit entangled states can be generated via the universal $\breve{R}$-matrix assisted by local unitary transformations. A Hamiltonian is constructed from the $\breve{R}$-matrix, and Berry phase of the Yang-Baxter system is investigated. Specifically, for $ φ_{1}=φ_{2}$, the Hamiltonian can be represented based on three sets of SU(2) operators, and three oscillator Hamiltonians can be obtained. Under this framework, the Berry phase can be interpreted.

Two qutrits universal quantum gates from the nine-dimensional unitary solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation

Mario E. Vélez, Juan Ospina

Using the Kauffman-Lomonaco method, some two-qutrits universal quantum gates are derived from the nine-dimensional unitary solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations associated with algebraic structures like the partial transpose operator and the dihedral group, which admit three dimensional representations. The Yang-Baxterization method given by Zhang-Kauffman-Ge is continuously used to obtain two-qutrits quantum gates and certain Hamiltonians for the evolution of the quantum gates are obtained, being such Hamiltonians interpreted as physical Hamiltonians of chain of particles of spin 1. Finally, the generalization for systems of two qudits is presented in the case of Yang-Baxterization of representations of braided monoidal algebra like the BH algebra and the bicolored Birman-Wenzl-Muraki algebra. For these algebras the corresponding two-qudits quantum gates are constructed jointly with the associated Hamiltonians interpreted like physical chains of particles with spin d. It is conjectured that the derived two-qdits quantum gates and the Hamiltonians may be implemented over bi-dimensional lattice systems like anyons systems or more generally over any physical systems ruled by the Yang-Baxter equations.

The yang-baxter equation, quantum computing and quantum entanglement

Fabienne Chouraqui

Abstract We present a method to construct infinite families of entangling (and primitive) 2-qudit gates, and amongst them entangling (and primitive) 2-qudit gates which satisfy the Yang-Baxter equation. We show that, given 2-qudit gates c and d, if c or d is entangling, then their Tracy-Singh product c ⊠ d is also entangling and we can provide decomposable states which become entangled after the application of c ⊠ d.

Universal simulation of Hamiltonian dynamics for quantum systems with finite-dimensional state spaces

Michael A. Nielsen, Michael J. Bremner, Jennifer L. Dodd +2 more

What interactions are sufficient to simulate arbitrary quantum dynamics in a composite quantum system? Dodd et al. [Phys. Rev. A 65, 040301(R) (2002)] provided a partial solution to this problem in the form of an efficient algorithm to simulate any desired two-body Hamiltonian evolution using any fixed two-body entangling N-qubit Hamiltonian, and local unitaries. We extend this result to the case where the component systems are qudits, that is, have D dimensions. As a consequence we explain how universal quantum computation can be performed with any fixed two-body entangling N-qudit Hamiltonian, and local unitaries.

We construct solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation in any dimension d≥2d\ge 2d≥2 by directly generalizing the previously found solutions for d=2d=2d=2 . We equip those solutions with unitarity and entangling properties. Being unitary, they can be turned into 222 -qudit quantum logic gates for qudit-based systems. The entangling property enables each of those solutions, together with all 111 -qudit gates, to form a universal set of quantum logic gates.
Entanglement and Berry Phase in a 9×99\times 99×9 Yang-Baxter system
A M-matrix which satisfies the Hecke algebraic relations is presented. Via the Yang-Baxterization approach, we obtain a unitary solution R˘(θ,φ1,φ2)\breve{R}(θ,φ_{1},φ_{2})R˘(θ,φ1,φ2) of Yang-Baxter Equation. It is shown that any pure two-qutrit entangled states can be generated via the universal R˘\breve{R}R˘-matrix assisted by local unitary transformations. A Hamiltonian is constructed from the R˘\breve{R}R˘-matrix, and Berry phase of the Yang-Baxter system is investigated. Specifically, for $ φ_{1}=φ_{2}$, the Hamiltonian can be represented based on three sets of SU(2) operators, and three oscillator Hamiltonians can be obtained. Under this framework, the Berry phase can be interpreted.
