Thomas-Fermi Theory

H. Eschrig

After having started in Chapter 1 with the N -particle wavefunction, in the preceding chapter it was shown that the single-particle and two-particle density matrices suffice to calculate most groundstate properties of a many-body system described by the Hamiltonian (1.4). If one were able to classify the set of all admissible two-particle density matrices—the corresponding single-particle density matrices follow from them via (2.13)—then the groundstate energy, E , of the many-body system could be obtained as the absolute minimum of (2.46) over this set in a variational way, without reference to many-body wavefunctions as needed in (1.3). These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

Toward Entanglement Bootstrap for Conformal Field Theory in Any Dimension

Rolando Ramirez Camasca, Xiang Li, Ting-Chun Lin +1 more

Given a quantum critical wavefunction in any dimension, we propose a reconstructed Hamiltonian, analogous to the ones previously found for 1+1d CFT and for 2+1d bosonic liquid topologically-ordered states. We test numerically that, for known regularized approximate CFT groundstates (on the icosahedron and the fuzzy sphere), (1) they are close to the groundstate of their reconstructed Hamiltonian, and (2) the spectrum of their reconstructed Hamiltonian on the unit sphere has CFT properties (integer spacing of descendants) and matches known low-lying energies. We show that this provides an automated method to improve the finite-size effects in a fixed Hilbert space.

TWO-DIMENSIONAL ANTIFERROMAGNETIC HEISENBERG MODEL: EXACT AND RVB STATES

Didier Poilblanc

The exact many-body states of a 10-site square cluster with periodic boundary conditions of a S = 1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg lattice model are investigated. A general form of a Resonating Valence Bond wavefunction (RVB), written in fermion representation is examined. It is shown that the optimum variational wavefunction has complex singlet bond distribution amplitudes of s+id symmetry . It has a very large overlap with the groundstate, belongs to the same space group representation and its energy functional has a minimum very close to the ground-state energy. On the other hand, if the amplitudes are restricted to real numbers, the local minimum has slightly higher energy and d-wave symmetry.
