Abstract

We analyze the structure of the subset of states generated by unital completely positive quantum maps. A witness certifying that a state does not belong to the subset generated by a given map is constructed. We analyse the representations of positive maps and their relation to quantum Perron-Frobenius theory.

A Note on Positive Maps and Classification of States

Gen Kimura, Andrzej Kossakowski

The relation between positive maps on Mn and subsets of self-adjoint elements from Mn ⊗ Mn is investigated. It has been shown that there exists the isomorphism between the set of all positive normalized maps on Mn and the subset of separable states on Mn ⊗ Mn.

Some Remarks on the Role of Minimal Length of Positive Maps in Constructing Entanglement Witnesses

Andrzej Jamiołkowski

The main objective of this paper is to discuss correspondence between the concept of entanglement witnesses (self-adjoint operators on a composite Hilbert space [Formula: see text] that are, in general, not positive, but are positive on separable states) and positive maps [Formula: see text] which are not completely positive. The notion of minimal length of linear positive map is introduced and the role of this quantity in the constructing of entanglement witnesses is explained.

Completely positive map from M4(C) to M5(C) on positive semidefinite Matrices

Winda C. Akatch, Benard Okelo, Omolo Ongati

Positive maps are essential in the description of quantum systems. However, characterization of the structure of the set of all positive maps is a challenge in mathematics and mathematical physics. We construct a linear positive map from M4 to M5 and state the conditions under which they are positive and completely positive (copositivity of positive).

Constructing positive maps from block matrices

Yu Jing Guo, Heng Fan

Positive maps are useful for detecting entanglement in quantum information theory. Any entangled state can be detected by some positive map. In this paper, the relation between positive block matrices and completely positive trace-preserving maps is characterized. Consequently, a new method for constructing decomposable maps from positive block matrices is derived. In addition, a method for constructing positive but not completely positive maps from Hermitian block matrices is also obtained.

Unital Kadison-Schwarz Maps

Hajir Al Zadjali, Farrukh Maksutovich Mukhamedov

Quantum entanglement is an important phenomenon in quantum information theory. To detect entanglement theoretically, positive but not completely positive maps are used. The Kadison-Schwarz (KS) inequality interpolates between positivity and complete positivity. KS maps may be key to understanding and detecting entanglement. We provide a description of a subset of KS maps on [Formula: see text] that are unital. This allows for the classification of a wider class of positive maps than the well known bistochastic maps. We derive the conditions for a unital map to be a KS map, and provide nontrivial examples of such a map.
