A paradigm for entanglement and information swapping of two qubits

Abstract

Based on a general unitary operation of two-qubit system, we investigate the dynamics of entanglement, entropy and purity. Distinctive features in the different initial states settings of an interacting bipartite system are explored. The striking effects of initial product states on entanglement shows that zeros entanglement can be obtained during the development of the interaction.

ENTANGLEMENT AND INFORMATION TRANSFER PROTOCOL BETWEEN TWO QUBITS

NASSER METWALLY

Based on the general unitary operations of two-qubit system, we investigate the dynamics of information swapping between two qubits. We briefly describe the general behavior of entanglement entropy and the purity taking into account two classes of initially states, either product state or entangled state. Using the phenomenon of information swapping, we suggest a theoretical protocol to transform the coded information from sender to the receiver.

Interplay between entanglement and entropy in two-qubit systems

L Mazzola, Sabrina Maniscalco, Jyrki Piilo +1 more

We study the exact entanglement and entropy dynamics of two qubits interacting with a common zero-temperature non-Markovian reservoir. It is a commonly held view that entanglement loss due to environmental decoherence is accompanied by loss of purity of the state of the system. We demonstrate that such an intuitive picture does not always apply: the deterioration of entanglement and purity does not necessarily come together; i.e. revivals of entanglement can be accompanied by deterioration of purity. To complete our investigation on entanglement–mixedness interplay we consider the case of initial mixed states and study how the entanglement dynamics and its revivals are related to both the initial purity and the initial entanglement.

Dynamics of Two Qubits: Decoherence and an Entanglement Optimization Protocol

Cesar Rodriguez, Anil Shaji, E. C. G. Sudarshan

The evolution of two qubits coupled by a general nonlocal interaction is studied in two distinct regimes. In the first regime the purity of the individual qubits is interchanged through the entanglement shared by the two. We illustrate how this can be a mechanism for decoherence. In the second regime, the interaction entangles two initially pure qubits. The dynamical maps for the reduced unitary evolution of both initially simply separable and not-simply-separable states are found. We outline a protocol for optimizing the entanglement generation subject to constraints.

Relations between entanglement and purity in non-Markovian dynamics

Carlos A. González-Gutiérrez, R. Román-Ancheyta, Diego Espitia +1 more

Knowledge of the relationships among different features of quantumness, like entanglement and state purity, is important from both fundamental and practical viewpoints. Yet, this issue remains little explored in dynamical contexts for open quantum systems. We address this problem by studying the dynamics of entanglement and purity for two-qubit systems using paradigmatic models of radiation-matter interaction, with a qubit being isolated from the environment (spectator configuration). We show the effects of the corresponding local quantum channels on an initial two-qubit pure entangled state in the concurrence–purity diagram and find the conditions which enable dynamical closed formulas of concurrence, used to quantify entanglement, as a function of purity. We finally discuss the usefulness of these relations in assessing entanglement and purity thresholds which allow noisy quantum teleportation. Our results provide new insights about how different properties of composite open quantum systems behave and relate each other during quantum evolutions.

A study on entanglement dynamics for a four-qubit model

Man Zhong-Xiao, Yun‐Jie Xia

In this paper, we consider the entanglement dynamics of a four-qubit model [2006 Phys. Rev. A 74 042328] where two entangled qubits a and b locally interact with separate qubits A and B via the spin-exchange-like Hamiltonian. We study the effect of purity of initial entangled state of qubits a, b on the entanglement evolution and its relation with energy transfer. Also, we find that the total bipartite entanglement of qubits a, b plus A, B is not a constant any longer when the initial entangled state of a, b is not pure, which is a complement to the result in the paper [2007 J. Phys. B 40 S45] for the pure case.

A Note on the Entropy of Entanglement and Entanglement Swapping Bounds

Simon J. D. Phoenix

Using the information content of correlations between multipartite systems, together with the notion of partitioning, we show that some general results about the evolution of correlations in quantum systems can be derived with only elementary methods. In particular, we show that for 2 quantum systems A and B, each comprised of a number of sub-systems, in which a partition of A interacts unitarily with a partition of B, then the total correlation can only increase (or remain unchanged) and is given simply by the sum of the initial correlation and the correlation that develops as a result of the interaction. We then show that in a 4 qubit entanglement swapping process the transferred degree of entanglement is bounded by the lower of the initial degrees of entanglements of the qubits.
