Sudden Birth versus Sudden Death of Entanglement in Multipartite Systems

Abstract

We study the entanglement dynamics of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs. Expectedly, as the cavity entanglement is depleted, it is transferred to the reservoir degrees of freedom. We find also that when the cavity entanglement suddenly disappears, the reservoir entanglement suddenly and necessarily appears. Surprisingly, we show that this entanglement sudden birth can manifest before, simultaneously, or even after entanglement sudden death. Finally, we present an explanatory study of other entanglement partitions and of higher dimensional systems.

A STUDY ON THE SUDDEN DEATH AND SUDDEN BIRTH OF ENTANGLEMENT IN AN OPEN SYSTEM

YING-JIE ZHANG, Yun‐Jie Xia

In this paper, we consider the entanglement dynamics of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs. When the cavity entanglement suddenly disappeared, the reservoir entanglement suddenly and necessarily appears. We study the effect of purity of initial entangled state of two cavities on the entanglement evolution, and acquire that the purity of initial entangled state of two cavities can control the apparition time of the entanglement sudden death and the entanglement sudden birth. Also, we find that the conditions on the apparition of the entanglement sudden death and the entanglement sudden birth can be generalized when the initial entangled state of cavities is not pure, which is a complement to the result in the paper [Phys. Rev. Lett.101 (2008) 080503] for the pure case.

Sudden birth versus sudden death of entanglement during the interaction of macroscopic fields with environments

Luo Cheng-Li, Li-Tuo Shen, Liu Wen-wu

Decoherence of two initially entangled macroscopic fields each interacting with a loss environment is investigated; environment only have an effect on the leakage of field’s photons. The cavity-cavity entanglement is characterized by concurrence. The results obtained by resolvable values show a surprising result: the two entangled macroscopic fields become completely disentangled even though the leakage rate of the cavities fields is very tiny. Then we find that when the cavity entanglement disappears, the environment entanglement appears. Finally, we present an explanatory study of other entanglement partitions.

Distillability Sudden Birth of Entanglement for Qutrit-Qutrit Systems

Jiang Huang, Mazhar Ali

We report the sudden appearance of distillability between two statistically independent reservoirs modelled as qutrit-qutrit systems. This feature of bipartite quantum systems is different from the previously observed phenomenon of entanglement sudden birth. It is found that the states of reservoirs first become bound entangled, thus exhibiting entanglement sudden birth, consequently followed by the sudden birth of distillability, and it is shown that whenever distillability is lost abruptly from principal system, it also necessarily appears abruptly among reservoirs' degrees of freedom. This surprising observation reflects yet another peculiarity of dynamical aspects of quantum entanglement.

Sudden death and sudden birth of entanglement in common structured reservoirs

L. Mazzola, Sabrina Maniscalco, Jyrki Piilo +2 more

We study the exact entanglement dynamics of two qubits in a common structured reservoir. We demonstrate that for certain classes of entangled states, entanglement sudden death occurs, while for certain initially factorized states, entanglement sudden birth takes place. The backaction of the non-Markovian reservoir is responsible for revivals of entanglement after sudden death has occurred, and also for periods of disentanglement following entanglement sudden birth.

Sudden birth and death of entanglement of two atoms in a finite temperature reservoir

R. Tanaś, Z. Ficek

We discuss the evolution of entanglement for a system of two two-level atoms interacting with a common reservoir at finite temperature. The Markovian master equation is used to describe the evolution of entanglement measured by concurrence. The phenomena of sudden birth and sudden death of entanglement are discussed. It is shown that entanglement sudden death is a standard feature when the reservoir has finite temperature. Entanglement sudden birth, which is the result of the collective behaviour of atoms, appears only for a sufficiently small mean number of photons of the reservoir (sufficiently low temperatures), and it gradually diminishes as the temperature increases. The results are illustrated for the system prepared in the Werner state.

Entanglement evolution of three-qubit mixed states in multipartite cavity - Reservoir systems

Jingzhou Xu, Jinbao Guo, Wen, Wei +2 more

We analyze the multipartite entanglement evolution of three-qubit mixed states composed of a GHZ state and a W state. For a composite system consisting of three cavities interacting with independent reservoirs, it is shown that the entanglement evolution is restricted by a set of monogamy relations. Furthermore, as quantified by the negativity, the entanglement dynamical property of the mixed entangled state of cavity photons is investigated. It is found that the three cavity photons can exhibit the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death (ESD). However, compared with the evolution of a generalized three-qubit GHZ state which has the equal initial entanglement, the ESD time of mixed states is later than that of the pure state. Finally, we discuss the entanglement distribution in the multipartite system, and point out the intrinsic relation between the ESD of cavity photons and the entanglement sudden birth of reservoirs.
