Abstract

We characterize the affine-invariant maximal extended cyclic codes. Then by the CSS construction, we derive from these codes a family of pure quantum codes. Also for ordnq even, a new family of degenerate quantum stabilizer codes is derived from the classical duadic codes. This answer an open problem asked by Aly et al.

QUANTUM DUADIC AND AFFINE-INVARIANT CODES

Kenza Guenda

We construct new families of duadic codes and derive from them degenerate quantum codes. This provides a solution to a question raised by Aly, Klappenecker and Sarvepalli on the existence of quantum codes from duadic codes when the multiplicative order of q modulo n is even. We also characterize the affine-invariant maximal extended cyclic codes. Then by the CSS construction, we give a family of quantum code.

Remarkable Degenerate Quantum Stabilizer Codes Derived from Duadic Codes

Salah A. Aly, Andreas Klappenecker, Pradeep Kiran Sarvepalli

Good quantum codes, such as quantum MDS codes, are typically nondegenerate, meaning that errors of small weight require active error-correction, which is -unfortunately- itself prone to errors. In this paper, examples of degenerate quantum codes are constructed that alleviate this problem in that they allow some errors of small weight that do not require active error correction. In particular, two new families of [[n, 1, ges radicn]]qdegenerate quantum codes are derived from classical duadic codes

Extended quasi-cyclic constructions of quantum codes and entanglement-assisted quantum codes

Jingjie Lv, Ruihu Li, Yu Yao

Construction of quantum codes and entanglement-assisted quantum codes with good parameters via classical codes is an important task for quantum computing and quantum information. In this paper, by a family of one-generator quasi-cyclic codes, we provide quasi-cyclic extended constructions that preserve the self-orthogonality to obtain stabilizer quantum codes. As for the computational results, some binary and ternary stabilizer codes with good parameters are constructed. Moreover, we present methods to construct maximal-entanglement entanglement-assisted quantum codes by means of the class of quasi-cyclic codes and their extended codes. As an application, some good maximal-entanglement entanglement-assisted quantum codes are obtained and their parameters are compared.

Quantum Cyclic Code

Sagarmoy Dutta, Piyush P. Kurur

In this paper, we define and study \emph{quantum cyclic codes}, a generalisation of cyclic codes to the quantum setting. Previously studied examples of quantum cyclic codes were all quantum codes obtained from classical cyclic codes via the CSS construction. However, the codes that we study are much more general. In particular, we construct cyclic stabiliser codes with parameters $[[5,1,3]]$, $[[17,1,7]]$ and $[[17,9,3]]$, all of which are \emph{not} CSS. The $[[5,1,3]]$ code is the well known Laflamme code and to the best of our knowledge the other two are new examples. Our definition of cyclicity applies to non-stabiliser codes as well; in fact we show that the $((5,6,2))$ nonstabiliser first constructed by Rains\etal~ cite{rains97nonadditive} and latter by Arvind \etal~\cite{arvind:2004:nonstabilizer} is cyclic. We also study stabiliser codes of length $4^m +1$ over $\mathbb{F}_2$ for which we define a notation of BCH distance. Much like the Berlekamp decoding algorithm for classical BCH codes, we give efficient quantum algorithms to correct up to $\floor{\frac{d-1}{2}}$ errors when the BCH distance is $d$.

A construction method for a family of quantum cyclic codes

Xinmei Wang

The problem of finding stabilizer quantum-error-correcting codes can be transformed into the problem of finding classical self-orthogonal linear codes over the Galois field GF(4) under a Hermitian inner product.A classical cyclic code over the field GF(4) is self-orthogonal with respect to the Hermitian inner product iff the generator polynomial of its dual code is a factor of its generator polynomial.Based on this connection,a class of quantum cyclic codes is constructed by finding corresponding classical cyclic codes. Some examples are also given in detail.

Families of Cyclic Codes over Finite Chain Rings

Andrew Nemec

A major difficulty in quantum computation and communication is preventing and correcting errors in the quantum bits. Most of the research in this area has focused on stabilizer codes derived from self-orthogonal cyclic error-correcting codes over finite fields. Our goal is to develop a similar theory for self-orthogonal cyclic codes over the class of finite chain rings which have been proven to also produce stabilizer codes. We also will discuss these restrictions on families of cyclic codes, including, but not limited to quadratic residue codes and Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem codes. Finally, we will extend the concepts of weight enumerators to the class of Frobenius rings and use them to derive bounds for our codes.
